Ian Somerhalder Reveals How He Really Feels About Not Being Cast as Christian Grey

Ever since Ian Somerhalder was left in the dust by confirmation that Charlie Hunnam is going to be the big screen incarnation of Christian Grey, the Vampire Diaries' star's fans have been livid. Feeling downright brokenhearted and disappointed, they feel like they want justice to be served. Well, they may finally be able to cool their jets now that Ian has spoken out about how he truly feels about losing the coveted role ...

Speaking to HuffPost Live, Ian clarified that while he is "unbelievably grateful for all the support and all the cheering and the love" from fans who were campaigning for him to play Christian Grey, he's got enough on his plate already.

Ian elaborated, "I'm on a TV show that shoots 10 months a year." Furthermore, he says:

It's so funny, you read these blogs: 'Ian Somerhalder angry, livid he's not Christian Grey' -- I mean, no, no, no, there's none of that.

Whew! I don't know about you, but an enraged Ian Somerhalder is not someone I'd ever want to cross paths with! Eek! No, but seriously, good for him for setting the record straight -- and handling the situation in a mature, chill, professional way. I wouldn't be surprised if the guy's a bit bummed, but he gets major points -- from fans and Hollywood insiders alike -- for taking the disappointment like a man!

What's more, he's reminding fans they can see him as much as they want thanks to his existing gig with the CW! Plus, if rumors are true that he could end up cast as Gideon Cross in the upcoming small screen version of Sylvia Day's Crossfire novels, we'll get to see much, much more of him. Even more than if he had been cast as Christian Grey! And really, what could be better than that?

Nina Dobrev's Cryptic Tweet Reveals Why She May Have Dumped Ian Somerhalder

It's not surprising that when it comes to manners, Nina Dobrev considers herself to be an expert. I mean, she's a pretty classy lady. She knows her own worth, and she expects to be treated a certain way. She made this really clear yesterday on Twitter. 

She talked chivalry and shared her thoughts on how guys should treat gals. It's clear Nina's got a lot of opinions on the subject. It makes you wonder, has she dated a lot of less-than-polite guys in the past? And could this include her ex Ian Somerhalder?

Nina took to Twitter to share a rather pointed image. In the vintage photo, a man is opening the car door for a woman. The accompanying text reads, "Real Men Still Do This." Nina adds her own caption saying, "Message for 21st Century boys...be men."

She went on to reply to some of her followers, talking about the importance of treating a girl like a lady. All this points to Nina having spent time with some dudes who had piss-poor manners. Could it be true that Ian Somerhalder doesn't hold doors open? NINA! Don't ruin our image of Ian as a knight in shining armor! Hopefully he's still reading her tweets regularly and will take his ex-girlfriend's advice.

Ian Somerhalder Drops Hints That Sound Like He's Still Not Over Nina Dobrev

Whether or not he's destined to be our Christian Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades flick, Ian Somerhalder still holds the key to many female fans' hearts ... But who holds the key to his? If a recent tweet is any indication, it sounds like that honor may still go to on-again, off-again GF and co-star Nina Dobrev.

Back from a hiatus and filming Vampire Diaries again, Ian tweeted, "Do what love-love what you do.At work by dreaded 6:30AM,like many... Love these damn people. #TVD cast&cree truly amazing people." Okay, okay, so he didn't outright say he loves NINA specifically! But he has been pontificating about how much his character Damon loves her character Elena, and thus, it's not completely nutso to read between the lines here, right?

Of his character's romance, Ian said:

[Damon] got the girl, at a great expense. It's gotta be so strange for this guy. He was so in love with Katherine for so many years, working off the naivety of a 23-year-old man. To be in love with this woman who really broke your heart, and then all of a sudden to find a woman who is identical in every way, shape, and form, who is 160 years his junior.

Again, not screaming from the rooftops that he's hopelessly devoted to Nina off-screen as much as on ... And given that she recently posted a pic on Instagram that had us wondering if she's still bitter about their breakup, I woudn't bet on them being an item again just yet. But there are likely still feelings there, and given how closely they have to work together on this upcoming season of Vampire Diaries, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up declaring their undying love for one another all over again!

Ever since the world learned Fifty Shades of Grey would become a movie, it seems like all of Hollywood -- from the most feted A-listers down to the lowliest D-listers and below -- have commented on whether or not they'd be interested in being cast. And despite being a bit beyond playing a 21-year-old at this point, Jennifer Love Hewitt recently threw her hat in the ring. 

Likely asked how she'd feel about vying for the lead role, the Client List actress gushed, "Oh my god, I would love to play Anastasia. It would be awkward now ... [but] I won't be pregnant forever. This would be a dream role. I'd love to do it. The books are so naughty. I love them!" Ha! But come on ... let's be real here. JLove's not a realistic contender ... However, the man she wants to play Christian may still be!

Jennifer told EnStarz, "I heard they were throwing around Ian Somerhalder. He would be a great Christian!"

Oh wow, she's a woman after MANY Fifty Shades fans' own hearts, huh? She seems to be thinking exactly the same way as a whole legion of Ian backers! Not that Fifty Shades producers are necessarily taking casting tips from JLove, but that's still a ringing endorsement for Ian from a veteran in the biz! 

At this point, his actual chances at nabbing the coveted gig seem slim ... But with so many people -- showbiz insiders and devoted fans -- on Team Ian, I wouldn't be surprised if he lands another role (like Gideon Cross in Sylvia Day's Crossfire TV series?!) that makes many women very, very pleased.

Thoughts on JLove's comments? You can't see her as Ana, right? But do you love her for naming Ian?!

No sea que te parece pretender ser un vampiro es diversión y juegos, Ian Somerhalder está aquí para hacerle saber que no todos los revolcones sexy y convertirse en un cuervo. A veces jugando el atribulado Damon Salvatore en Vampire Diaries lo deja destrozado emocionalmente. Irónicamente, comparando su trabajo a la terapia que le pague, Ian dijo:

'Vampire Diaries' temporada 5 Spoilers: Ian Somerhalder platos sobre futuro de Delena

Contamos con los minutos, segundos y el... lo que viene después de segundos (nanosegundos? milisegundos, tal vez?) hasta que llegue octubre. Mientras que Halloween es una fiesta impresionante (leer: caramelos), probablemente estemos más emocionado por el mes es otro gran evento - el estreno de la temporada 5 de The Vampire Diaries.

Cuando se trata de fundición Gris de Christian, el actor que eventualmente se llevará la parte necesita algunas cualidades: tiene que ser sexy, seguro. Tiene que ser un poco peligroso. Looks like Ian Somerhalder's got himself a new bitch. The Vampire Diaries actor, and Fifty Shades hopeful, posted a photo to Instagram, showing off the new love of his life: A dog he's named Nietzsche. The pup apparently is a stray that was found wandering around in traffic near The Vampire Diaries set. Ian captioned the photo of himself and his dog: "My new girl. Rescued from traffic near The Vampire Diaries stages just a few hours ago -- so smart, so beautiful & charming -- all a man could ask for in a girl. So happy together. Her name is Nietzsche."

And then millions of girls melted into puddles of goo, their liquid selves slipping down into sewers and shower drains. And now there's a weird Ian Somerhalder fan club underground.

Sometimes, it actually seems like Ian Somerhalder is a caricature of himself. Or a character in a Saturday Night Live sketch: Sensitive Guy. Not only did Ian just adopt a stray pup (who he named Nietzsche), dude plans on opening a center for abused animals. He actually at one point said: "We're building an animal sanctuary that's also going to double as a sustainable agriculture farm and triple as a youth education camp. When a young person comes to that farm, they leave with a different understanding of compassion." I mean, come on. Is this man for real? He's like Feminist Ryan Gosling incarnate!

Whatever Ian's doing (being hot), he needs to keep it up (continue being hot). Not only is he melting hearts with his whole Sensitive Guy persona, he truly has convinced the world he's the only man who can play Christian Grey. At this point, if the role winds up going to someone else, I wouldn't be surprised if there were riots.

Riots that Ian would peacefully protest. Swoon.

Christian Greyde ex-novia, Nina Dobrev, recibió un regalo sorpresa recientemente en forma de colorido, fragante olor a las plantas. Usted puede referirse a ellos como "flores". Yo, por un lado, le encantaría ver estos Hollywoodites joven de aspecto exótico, una vuelta juntos. Eran tan lindos. Pero si las cosas no funcionan, eso está bien, también. Conozco a otra persona con que Ian podría seguir bien. No quiero nada, pero te diré que es la autora de este post del blog.

Poor Nina Dobrev. She's young, gorgeous, successful, and got to see that smokin' hunk of burnin' love, Ian Somerhalder, naked. But no one cares. No one cares, my friends. She's just pitied. Pitied because she lost that smokin' hunk of burnin' -- what was I saying? Well, anyway, Nina is single now. (Sob.) But, no, seriously, people!!! This isn't 1912. Nina is a modern woman, she can be single if she wants. And apparently that is definitely what she wants. The Vampire Diaries star says: "I don't need no stinkin' man." Haha. No, she told US Weekly:

I've been a relationship girl and I've been in long-term relationships my whole life until this point, so I think I'm looking forward to spending some time with myself and finding myself again.

And, no, that is not code for: "I'm still so broken up about Ian that I can even THINK of knocking boots with someone new." Okay, maybe it is.

I mean, what is the girl going to say? "I just broke up with Ian but I can't WAIT to get back into a relationship again because I SUCK at being single, have no friends, and need a man in my life because I feel worthless"?

Of course she is not going to say that!! Because it's not true!! (Cue up: "Since You Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson.)

Nina goes on:

I'm just discovering different sides of me and growing and then I'll figure out what I like in a man when I see it. It's all about finding out what meshes and what doesn't, and what you like and what you don't. Life is about experiences, so I guess I'm just figuring that out.

Which is definitely NOT another way of saying, "I'm crushed about the breakup with that sickeningly hot stud Ian and am just waiting until he comes to his senses and realizes what he lost, and comes crawling back on hands and knees, begging and pleading."

She's totally not thinking that, you guys!!! Cut her some slack!! I still can't get over how they broke up right after they rushed their sick cat to the vet in the middle of the night. Who does that???

Anyway, it's clear from what Nina is saying that she's feeling strong, confident, and ready to discover who she is as a person. And she's totally not blubbering in her pillow every night. Sheesh, you cynical people.

Ian Somerhalder Kisses ‘Fans’ and Flexes Muscles in Attempt to Show He’s Not Giving Up on Christian Grey (PHOTOS)

Ian Somerhalder is at it again: posting sexy photos and writing cryptic posts that don’t flat-out scream, “I’m the perfect Christian Grey!!” but certainly strongly hint at it. Take the latest batch, for instance -- which are, um, intriguing to say the least.

This first photo shows how he's thanking his fans, proving in a slightly passive aggressive way how insanely popular he is. Is he trying to show how much of a fan base he has to campaign for the Christian Grey role? Deflect the rumors that he’s out of the running and all this work he’s done has been for naught? Show once and for all that he’s WAY over Nina Dobrev? Or is he just trying to show off how plump and gorgeous his lips are (at first I thought he was wearing pink lipstick)? Such haunting questions to keep Fifty Shades fans up at night ...

And here's the other photo he recently snapped:

Whoa, right? He captioned this one with: "Another boys night-uh oh... Having longggg discussions with my cosmic brother Miles about massive change in our world. Fighting for change!"

Such a strange photo, don't you think? But if those are indeed Ian's arms, um, hello biceps! He's definitely got the whole hot body thing down if he's really hoping to be cast as Christian Grey. Because I could stare at those things all damn day.

Anyway, perhaps this is his way of showing all of us that he really doesn't care about the Fifty Shades casting rumors. He's out there doing his own thing and enjoys posting these photos on Instagram for all of us to drool over. But I don't think any Team Ian fans will rest until an official announcement is made.

Honestly, though it's driving the rest of us crazy, these photos show he isn't all that bothered. He's obviously got almost four million followers, has been enjoying single life with his boys, and makes us write entire posts on two innocuous photographs. What can't this man do?

Needless to say, if they don't cast Ian, who seems to be loving life and his millions of fans at the moment, they better find a complete unknown who is equally hot. I for one can't wait for the reaction when word about who is finally cast gets out. The Internet will be so much fun that day. But, seriously, it better be soon before we all implode from Fifty Shades casting rumors overload.

It's a sad day, friends. Or, at least, I think it's a sad day. There's a rumor going around, saying that not only will Ian Somerhalder not be playing Christian Grey, but that he's salty about it and snapped at paparazzi when asked about what happened. I'm sort of inclined to not believe this type of poppycock, as every day someone new is thrown into the ol' Fifty Shades of Grey casting pool. But Ian's answer to the paparazzi is a little odd. And there's video proof.

Maybe there's some truth to this, guys? Hold me, I'm scared.

Clearly, he's joking with his "Jim Carrey" comment, but Ian does seem less than thrilled when Fifty Shades is brought up. Sure, it could be the fact that there are 73 photographers in his face, snapping away and asking obnoxious questions when he's just trying to get the hell out of the airport, but "I don't know, man, you tell me" could be misconstrued as being perturbed at the question.

Then again, maybe Ian's just being cagey, as any good Christian contender would do? Maybe he's simply playing it close to the vest? Maybe, just maybe, he was already cast in the role and has been sworn to secrecy?

I like that better. So let's just go with that, kthnxbai.
