Eva Longoria Reveals a Third Marriage Isn't in the Cards for Her

eva longoriaAfter two divorces -- once from General Hospital actor Tyler Christopher in 2004 and most recently from NBA player Tony Parker in 2011 -- Eva Longoria isn't interested in remarrying ... ever. The former Desperate Housewives star confessed to Access Hollywood Live recently, "I've been married twice. Been there, done that!" when asked if she feels pressure to wed as she gets older.

First off, it's all sorts of obnoxious to even ask her in the first place if her age makes her feel feels "pressured" to get married. Really, what kind of question is that?! Are all women incomplete or something unless they have a spouse ... or kids? Yeah, Eva doesn't necessarily seem desperate to become a mom anytime soon either.

She said:

I'm not one of those women who are like, 'I must procreate!' I think kids are a product of love. So if you find the right person and you want to have a family with that person, then that's when the time is right. But...if I'm 50 and single, I'm not going to go do it myself.

Aww. I admire that she's standing up for what she believes is right for her. Still, I'd never say never. After all, you don't know who you'll meet and how your heart could end up changing your mind when it comes to remarriage. The fact of the matter is that falling in love can make you rethink just about anything and everything you thought you were deadset on.

For all her talk, I get the impression that Eva's really a romantic at heart. I hope she finds the right guy. Whether or not that could lead her to a third walk down the aisle, who knows? But something tells me she shouldn't write off the possibility altogether. No one should.

How do you feel about writing off remarriage completely?

George H.W. Bush 'Comes Out' in Support of Marriage Equality ... Sort Of

george h.w. bushLooks like another small but encouraging step has been made by a Republican showing support of marriage equality: Former President George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara attended the wedding last weekend of two female friends Bonnie Clement and Helen Thorgalsen in Maine. Furthermore, Bush was an official witness, having signed the couple's marriage license! Very nice.

Although Bush spokesman Jim McGrath made a point to state that the former president and his wife attended the affair as private citizens, tongues are now clucking that this was the elder Bush's attempt to make a quiet statement that he supports same-sex marriage.

Hmm, it's quite possible ... After all, he wouldn't be a lone wolf in the Bush brood! And it would have been a long time coming! After all, we've known for a while now that George W. Bush's wife, Laura Bush, their daughter Barbara Bush, and George W. Bush's former vice president, Dick Cheney (whose daughter, Mary Cheney, is openly gay), are all publicly supportive of same-sex marriage.

While H.W.'s spokesman's statement is a bit disconcerting -- because why do they have to be so "private" about their true feelings here? -- I still feel like we could see the 89-year-old's presence at the happy occasion as a good sign. The 41st president may not be giving speeches at gay pride parade a la Lady Gaga, but his attendance at this wedding is still small but significant proof that representatives from both sides of the aisle are coming together on marriage equality. Cheers to that!

Do you think #41 supports same-sex marriage? Do you think it matters?

Khloe Kardashian Drops Major Hint That Marriage Is Over

Khloe KardashianWell, it doesn't get any more real than this, folks. At least not in Hollywood. Khloe Kardashian has dropped the "Odom" from her name -- on Instagram. This is how it's done in Tinseltown. People break up and unfollow on Twitter. Or they make some other passive-aggressive social media move. This is Khloe's first with Lamar, though rumors have abounded for weeks that the two are on the verge of separation. Additionally, sources tell US Weekly that their separation will be announced, it's just a question of when not if. Sigh.

A source tells US Weekly that Lammy's clothes have just been booted from their Los Angeles mansion:

Her assistants packed up Lamar's clothes and dropped them off at his loft.

Yikes, that was nice of her, packing up his clothes. I'd just throw them out the window onto the lawn!

Another telling sign things are virtually kaput in KhloeLamar Land? Khloe recently tweeted (since removed):

She smiles to mask the pain in her heart.

And, unfortunately, Khloe has been doing a lot of smiling lately.

Another friend told the magazine:

She'll be the one who ends things, and it will be soon.

Isn't that just like a guy? Let the woman do the heavy lifting. I'm sure Khloe doesn't want to separate, but she's left with no choice with a guy who reportedly refuses to work on their marriage or his drug issues.

Also, there are rumors that Kris Jenner has retained a top divorce lawyer for her daughter. Having a tough, overbearing mom comes in handy sometimes.

Well, this is sad. I'm sure we all remember when Khloe used to call Lamar her "Lammy" and her "box of chocolates." But if even a small percentage of the stuff we're hearing about Lamar is true, then she'll be better off.

Do you think these two will definitely get divorced? Does it make you sad?

Jennifer Aniston Might Let Money Ruin Her Second Marriage Before It Starts

jennifer anistonJennnifer Aniston may be headed for heartbreak all over again. She hasn't always been lucky in the romance department. Her marriage to Brad Pitt famously crashed and burned after he fell for his Mr. and Mrs. Smith costar Angelina Jolie. However, we fans had hoped she'd found The One in fiance Justin Theroux. But if the latest reports are to be believed, Jen is sabotaging her own relationship and it's a mistake many other woman have made.

Like many couples, Jennifer and her husband-to-be don't see eye-to-eye on one very important topic: money. Apparently, she loves to treat herself to lavish, high-priced shopping sprees, while he is more practical with money. Sources have told the Globe magazine that she dropped as much as $15,000 on a summer wardrobe and never even wore many of the pricey new fashions -- something the  more frugal Justin just can't understand.

Jen also reportedly has a penchant for going on these sprees when she is down or had a bad day. So many women can relate to that one. Of course, we don't walk in the door with a $5,000 skirt, but all those pairs of shoes, makeup, pieces of jewelry can add up. That momentary emotional surge we get from retail therapy is not worth the long term damage we may be doing to our bank accounts, credit scores, and ultimately our relationships.

The stress of postponing their wedding certainly hasn't helped matters. She's supposedly hitting the stores even more. And knowing how Justin disapproves, she has started hiding her purchases. A big, big No-No and one so many of us are guilty of.

Conflicts about money can destroy any relationship – even those among the rich. It boils down to trust. Your spouse needs to know that he can rely on you to make rational, smart choices, especially when it comes to finances. Even if you have a lot of money in the bank, outrageous spending can be a sign of immaturity. It is not a smart or healthy way to deal with your emotions on a regular basis. And to keep this secret before you walk down the aisle is crazy. It all but guarantees an eventual trip to a marriage counselor or worse – to divorce court. Hope Jen smartens up and puts that wallet away.

Do you think money problems can ruin any relationship?

6 Ways Brothers and Sisters Really Do Prepare You for Marriage

siblingsA new study is suggesting that people with siblings make better spouses and that they are, in fact, less likely to divorce than those who don't have siblings or who have less siblings. In fact, your risk for divorce goes down by 2 percent for every sibling you have. Finally! A reason for all those hideous fights! Am I right?

The thing is, this study could really be filed under one word: Duh. Anyone who grew up with siblings knows that marriage is actually not all that terribly dissimilar. There are constant negotiations, worries about sharing, fights, and dramatic make-ups. Minus the sex, marriage does look an awful lot like the relationship we once shared with those who lived in our house.

Here are 6 ways siblings really do prepare us for the ultimate life commitment:

1.) Sharing is caring: I see this with my kids all the time. They want to kill each other, and they squabble and fight, sure, but they are also best friends. Sam would never get a lollipop without also getting one for her brother. You learn to think about others pretty early. My paycheck is your paycheck, dear.

2.) Constant companionship: My kids are used to having someone up in their space 24/7. It's not unlike a marriage. You get used to someone being in your space and that becomes A-OK.

3.) Us against them mentality: Siblings have each other's backs. This is early training for a marriage. My kids may fight one another, but God help the person who tries to step in between them or hurt the other one. There will be hell to pay! This is a lot like a marriage, too.

4.) Fighting followed by love: Sure, there are some big fights (some even bigger than others), but there is also big, big love. That is what it's all about. In marriage, it's much the same. Most married people experience a few epic fights, but they also know how to go right back to working together. Those of us with siblings learned to practice this early.

5.) Sharing a room: The expectation of our own space, far from other people, isn't that high when you share a room with a sibling. It makes sharing a room with a spouse a piece of cake!

6.) A best friend: Siblings are, above all, best friends (at least when it's good). When you all move out and go off to college, it can be sad to lose all that. You get all that back (and then some) with marriage with the bonus of forever!

How did your siblings prepare you for marriage?

Being Honest About an Emotional Affair Is the Quickest Way to Ruin Your Marriage

Most women say that an emotional affair is just as devastating -- sometimes even more so -- than a purely physical encounter. One therapist says that you should inform your spouse if you're thinking or fantasizing about another person. Err, what?! I'm a HUGE believer in honesty, but what would be the point in telling your partner you've got a crush on your coworker?

Tammy Nelson writes:

Preventing emotional infidelity may be as simple as (and this is actually harder than it sounds) telling the truth. In order to avoid an affair, you and your partner have to accept that it is natural and normal to be emotionally and physically attracted to other people. And if you find yourself fantasizing about this other person, tell on yourself before it goes any further.

Hey, there's admitting you have a crush on Robert Pattinson and then there's admitting you have a crush on Don, the dude from accounting.

Tammy -- who has either never had a crush or has a VERY understanding husband -- goes on:

It is easier to talk about now than it will be later, after the emotional affair has developed into something more complicated. A word of advice: telling your partner means being honest about your feelings. It doesn't mean using specific details. Be open and honest about your concerns and let your partner know that you want to be clear about your feelings before they turn into something more.

It is normal to be attracted to someone with whom you have developed an emotional connection. But moving that relationship into something sexual is the next step, and it is potentially dangerous for your relationship. If you are in a relationship and afraid you might cheat, talk to your partner today and be honest about your feelings.

OMG, can you imagine?! Coming home and telling hubster you've got the hots for Don means you'll be lucky if you have a job tomorrow! Let's get real here. Let's talk about how else you can solve the problem of a crush without making your spouse nutty with unwarranted jealousy:

1. Be honest with yourself about why you have a crush. Are you developing a relationship with someone besides your partner because you truly can't talk to your partner about certain things? Or because you and your partner truly have lost the spark and magic? Then work on that. Be honest with your partner about the things you feel you've LOST, not that you think you've found this with someone else. If you haven't crossed the line into blatant emotional affair nor cheating, then you need to find out what is drawing you to that other person that might harm your marriage.

2. Yes, everyone has crushes. If you don't let crushes get away from you -- to the point where you are obsessing, or acting on it, or trying to act on it -- then is it really so bad? Can't you keep this thing to yourself? For god's sake, don't start emailing and texting flirty stuff, because that will always get found out. (Plus, you shouldn't do that anyway.) But if you're sitting there thinking, "Man, he's smokin'," can you not just do that and keep your trap and your legs shut about it?

3. Don't make a crush into an emotional affair. Tammy does bring up some good points. Like what behavior brings you into unacceptable emotional affair territory. Calling after hours, complaining about your spouse, etc. If you start doing that, there is something called self-restraint. Learn how to use it. Realize this crush will NOT solve all your problems. Or even a fraction of them. Talk to your spouse about your marriage. And get therapy or read books so you can figure out what is making YOU feel empty.

4. Ask yourself if you want to be free to pursue your crush. If so, then by all means, talk to your partner. In fact, break up with him or her if you plan on bringing your crush candies, flowers, and love notes.

Telling your partner that you are fantasizing or thinking about someone else is dangerous territory. Yes, it might be honest. But there is such a thing as too much honesty. Married people don't need to share every tiny thought that jumps into their brains!

The exception here would be if you are thinking about the same sex. If you are gay or think you might be, you really need to talk to your partner. Even if that means confessing about Don, the dude from accounting.

Should you tell your partner when you have a crush?

Teresa Giudice Will End Up in Jail Unless She Ends Her Marriage

teresa giudiceTeresa and Joe Giudice's latest legal troubles make everything else they have endured the last five seasons look like child's play. The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars are facing 50 years in jail for 39 counts of fraud against the IRS. Now fans fear that Teresa won't be willing to do the one thing she could do in order to save her well-dressed hide.

According to the folks over at Celebrity Dirty Laundry, Teresa's best chance for getting off with just a slap on the wrist and going home to her four daughters is to divorce "Juicy Joe" and testify against him. As long as they are married, she can't be compelled to testify, nor can anything he told her be used against him.

But anyone who watches that show knows that is unlikely to ever happen. Teresa will go down with that ship. She has too much stubborn pride to admit that Joe did something bad and has essentially ruined her life. Even after cameras caught him chatting up another woman and calling Teresa a c**t, she stood by her man. Not that she should just cut and run when things get tough. The vows are for better or worse, after all. But at some point, she will need to do what's best for her children.

If Joe were to take the fall for this mess, she wouldn't have to worry about jail time. Problem is, people just don't think he's that selfless, especially if it means more time behind bars for himself. It's a tough situation for Teresa, to be sure. She must be scared to death about what will happen to her family. Anyone in that position would be.

What do you think Teresa should do?

Women Reveal the One Thing About Marriage That Has Surprised Them the Most

wedding ceremony eden roc miami beach pogo photoThese days, you'd think there's very little -- if nothing at all -- about marriage that we don't see coming from miiiiles away. After all, most of us live with our partners for years before we have a ring on it. What could possibly catch us off-guard? In some regards, nothing changes. But the truth is that no matter how long you've lived with your partner before saying "I do," there are aspects of officially being a Mr. and Mrs. that can take you by surprise

Here, what women who've been married anywhere from a couple of months to over a decade wish they'd known about marriage before they tied the knot ...

Suddenly, some people think your marital status gives them free rein to bring up babies! One woman admits she had no idea that after getitng married "people would suddenly think it was okay to talk about the goings-on inside my uterus!" Another reports, "Everyone I meet asks when we're having babies. Even a jeweler showed me some necklaces that would make for a nice push present someday -- his words, not mine!"Sex may be even BETTER once you're married. Let's kill that persistent myth that married sex is snooze-worthy -- or nonexistent! One woman admits, "I was surprised that the sex is actually just as good if not better than before marriage!New expectations come into play. What you were accountable for as a girlfriend may not be what your husband and/or his family think you should be doing as a wife. Could be based on a culture clash or just different family dynamics. Communication about money becomes more crucial than ever. It's one thing to be paying bills together as a couple who lives together, but once you're married, there's a whole new layer of accountability -- filing joint taxes and knowing your credit directly affects the other person, etc.Even if you do combine assets, it's important to have your own bank account. One woman admits she learned that this was important "for personal spending without feeling guilty."You may be surprised how housework ends up getting divided. Even if you lived together before you got married, division of chores can change over time. For some couples, equal division of tasks works best. But that's not true for every couple. As one woman put it, "I think it should be divided however works best for you and your husband. It turns out that I really enjoy cooking every day and find cleaning stress-relieving."You may not want to change your last name ... professionally, right away, or ever. Even if you thought you knew what you wanted to do before you got married, faced with the actual reality of doing away with an identity you've known for however many years as a grown adult can be challenging, and it's normal to feel torn about it. It's also okay to take your time making up your mind about it.You end up feeling supported in a way you didn't before. Says one woman who lived with her husband for years before getting married, "I never knew about the ense of support you feel. It's different after you're married. I knew my husband always had my back before, but once we tied the knot, it seemed to be stronger."You can pretty much kiss autonomous decision-making goodbye. As one woman confesses, "I didn't realize that I would never be able to make an autonomous decision for the rest of my life. Meaning, I have to factor this partner into every decisive thought. It's a nervous negotiation for independent women. When I say this I'm not trying to strip myself of any power or suggest subservience, but rather highlight the notion that once you enter into partnership you lock it in. My actions have direct consequence on my life, and my life is my family, so there it is."You're not going to love -- or even be okay -- with everything about your spouse. Some of those annoying quirks you started to notice six months to a year into the relationship can get more intolerable. But hopefully, the good outweighs the bad.

What about marriage have you been most surprised by?

Our ‘Hookup Culture’ Could Mean Women Have Given Up on Love and Marriage

Penulis : Unknown on woensdag 17 juli 2013 | 05:36

woensdag 17 juli 2013

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

casual sexA recent article in The New York Times Magazine about the "hookup culture" running rampant on college campuses (and beyond) has tongues wagging, especially because, by and large, the people featured were young women. And none of these young women had the desire or inclination to "date" or be "in a relationship." They are too busy. They just want to have sex and move on. The horror!

The reality is, this is not news. The "hookup culture" has been part of college since long before I was in school, and I am sure it will remain for long after these girls leave. Still, for many years, college was also the place where women went to "earn their MRS degree." In other words, they were looking for husbands. Well, no more.

Casual sex is now the name of the game. One junior at Penn (all the girls were anonymous) said:

I positioned myself in college in such a way that I can’t have a meaningful romantic relationship, because I’m always busy and the people that I am interested in are always busy, too.

This makes sense. But casual sex isn't always simple. It has its place, by all means, it can be fun. But the reasons these girls are doing it is disturbing. They are saying there is no room for love or emotion in their lives. They are saying it's all pointless in the face of ambition and drive.

That seems very sad.

It's not that I agree with Susan Patton, the Princeton mom who thinks all girls ought to be looking for their spouse at Princeton. As she says:

For most of you, the cornerstone of your future and happiness will be inextricably linked to the man you marry, and you will never again have this concentration of men who are worthy of you.

It's not about that. It's not about money or prestige or any other kind of thing. It's about love. No matter how successful we are, no matter how much money we make, without love, none of it really means anything. And that is what is getting lost here.

We can say they will find love later, and it's true, they might. But when will they make time for it? When will love ever be the priority and something they are willing to sacrifice for?

As a mom, I would want more for my kids. Sure, I want them to be ambitious and successful and go to Ivy league schools and all that, but I also want them to find love, to prioritize it, and to find a partner who makes them better than they would be otherwise.

People can (and should) experiment with sexuality. But this sounds less like casual sex for sex's sake and more like a utilitarian thing: I have needs, you have needs, let's pound this out and get back to work. That's not romance or love. But it's not even sexy either. It's just kind of sad.

We make the time for the things we value, and valuing success and money over love and relationships is a mistake. Ten years from now, I would love to hear how these young women fare.

Do you think constant sex without love is a good idea?
