George H.W. Bush 'Comes Out' in Support of Marriage Equality ... Sort Of

george h.w. bushLooks like another small but encouraging step has been made by a Republican showing support of marriage equality: Former President George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara attended the wedding last weekend of two female friends Bonnie Clement and Helen Thorgalsen in Maine. Furthermore, Bush was an official witness, having signed the couple's marriage license! Very nice.

Although Bush spokesman Jim McGrath made a point to state that the former president and his wife attended the affair as private citizens, tongues are now clucking that this was the elder Bush's attempt to make a quiet statement that he supports same-sex marriage.

Hmm, it's quite possible ... After all, he wouldn't be a lone wolf in the Bush brood! And it would have been a long time coming! After all, we've known for a while now that George W. Bush's wife, Laura Bush, their daughter Barbara Bush, and George W. Bush's former vice president, Dick Cheney (whose daughter, Mary Cheney, is openly gay), are all publicly supportive of same-sex marriage.

While H.W.'s spokesman's statement is a bit disconcerting -- because why do they have to be so "private" about their true feelings here? -- I still feel like we could see the 89-year-old's presence at the happy occasion as a good sign. The 41st president may not be giving speeches at gay pride parade a la Lady Gaga, but his attendance at this wedding is still small but significant proof that representatives from both sides of the aisle are coming together on marriage equality. Cheers to that!

Do you think #41 supports same-sex marriage? Do you think it matters?

Khloe Kardashian Looks 'Sad' After Lamar Odom Comes Home So It Must Mean Divorce (Again)

khloe kardashian, Lamar OdomLamar Odom is finally home, but that doesn't mean everything is magically all better for him and the little missus. Exhibit A: Khloe Kardashian's sad face in the paparazzi shots taken not long after Lamar's return. Sure, nobody looks like perfection leaving the gym. But looking like you've lost your best friend isn't common either!

That's exactly how Khloe appears to be feeling. Check out the shades! Her more-glum-than-usual demeanor and her clear attempts to cover up her ring finger -- and with it any indication as to what her future with Lamar may hold -- are so NOT reassuring.

To be fair, I'm practically positive that if someone tried to take my photo after I'd been raining sweat on the Elliptical Trainer for 45 minutes (okay, okay, fine, 30 minutes), they would be lucky to escape with their eyes intact. So sure, it's natural for Khloe to seem a bit nonplussed.

But I can't get over the towel. Could the move of covering up her left hand be unintentional? Perhaps, but in light of the unfolding drama surrounding the couple, it's not likely. Lamar hasn't been home for long at all and already the woman's feeling enough stress that she's got to high-tail it to the gym. This does not bespeak smooth sailing, my friends.

Then again, maybe Khloe doesn't like wearing her wedding ring to work out, and everything is roses for her marriage to Lamar (not likely but ...). We'll never know the whole story. But no matter what, K and L, get used to this. Your every move and facial expression will be analyzed from here to kingdom come for the foreseeable future. So say cheese!

Do you think Khloe and Lamar will weather this storm?

12 Mistakes Women Make When It Comes to Sex

sex signSex can be one of the most amazing things in the world or the most dreaded, all depending on your mindset. Of course there are things we worry about when we are having sex -- like how your vagina smells, if your body is jiggling too much, or the fear of queefing. (It's not that bad!) But there are also mistakes we are making that can ruin the experience. I don't want to say you are doing it wrong, but ladies, we sometimes are doing it all wrong! The first step in righting those wrongs is to recognize them ... and make some changes.

So let's review these 12 mistakes women make when it comes to sex and stop making them so we can have better sex lives.

More from The Stir: 7 Ways Men Secretly Ask Us for Sex (PHOTOS)

1. Faking orgasms. Perhaps we just want our partners to feel more studly, but faking it only means one thing: You are denying yourself your own pleasure. Don't do it ... anymore.

2. Putting on an act complete with porn star quality moans. Loud sex sometimes means you're faking it, so don't bother. Just like #1, you are only denying yourself and you're not getting any Academy Awards (or AVNs) for your performance.

3. Not asking for what makes us feel good. The first step in experiencing sexual pleasure is to know what pleasures you. Ask for it. A good lover should want to make you come -- and be willing to take the time to get you there.

4. Being afraid to acknowledge our fantasies. You are not a nasty whore or dirty slut for wanting that X-Rated fantasy to come true. Talk about them, think about them, act on them.

5. Not touching ourselves enough. Guys masturbate a lot. Most girls ... not so much. Touch yourself when you're feeling in the mood. And don't be afraid to touch yourself when you are having sex. If you need to show your lover how it's done, take matters into your own hands.

6. Having too many hang-ups. The lights have to be off. You have to have just showered. You're afraid the cheeseburger you just ate makes your belly look fat. You're worried about that pimple on your back. You didn't shave. Blah blah blah! Stop worrying about all that stuff and enjoy yourself. Be in the moment.

7. Only worrying about what feels good for him. Of course we should think about how our lover is feeling and if he is enjoying it, but don't overdo it. Worrying too much about him will make you not have your own pleasure and if you're not enjoying it, he probably won't either.

8. Forgetting about his balls. Yes, his penis is fun to play with but so are his balls. Play around with them, too. See what he likes. He should return the favor when it's time for him to really take care of you. You're more than just your vaginal opening, right? He's more than just his appendage.

9. Laying there. Why bother?

10. Doing it when we really don't want to do it. Not into it? Just say no. Save it for another time. But if you decide to do the nasty when you're really not in the mood, don't do #9.

11. Taking everything way too seriously. Laugh a little. Sex is fun -- it's even funny sometimes. Don't let falling off the bed or an accidental fart ruin the mood. Laugh, then get back to it.

12. Thinking it's over when he's done. Sometimes his finish is just the beginning of our orgasmic journey.

Have you been guilty of some of these "mistakes"? Have any other to add?

5 Things Every Mom Should Do With Their 'Big Kid' Before the Next Baby Comes Along

big brotherRight now, I only have one child, but from what I hear, there are a wide variety of emotions that come into play before baby #2 makes his or her debut. And I can only imagine. When I think about having another child, I look at my daughter and think, "Gosh, how could I possibly love someone else this much? My heart is filled to the brim!" Okay, that's a little cheesy, but that's the honest to god general sentiment. Then I think about adding the hormones from pregnancy into the mix, and oof. The whole thing seems so ... emotional. But I'd like to have another baby someday. Maybe even two. But I, like all moms, want to be sure to soak up every minute with my "big girl" before the next baby makes their grand entrance.

Who knows what will happen if/when I'm pregnant next, but if I do have another, I plan on doing these five special things with my daughter during the last month of my pregnancy. While it's still just me and her.

1. Let her stay up late, watching movies. Everybody knows "staying up late" is a truly special thing for kids. Especially if there are movies and popcorn involved. This isn't something your kid should do all the time for obvious reasons, but it's an "exciting" thing for them, and kind of shows them that they're officially a "big kid".

2. Take a long, leisurely nap together. For most moms, nap time is when we get stuff done. One day, let everything just be, and crawl up with your little one and sleep when he sleeps.

3. Go on a "date" together. This, of course, should still be done once in a while after baby arrives, but having a really special day together -- just you and big brother or big sis -- is such a sweet and fun way to show how important they'll always be.

4. Get him or her excited for being a big brother or sister. Tell them all about the awesome perks of being the older sibling. You can also purchase one of those cute "big sis" or "big brother" shirts or books.

5. Let them sleep in bed with you. If you don't co-sleep, invite your kid into bed with you for the night as a special "treat". Though you may want to schedule this one for a good two or three weeks ahead of your due date, so things don't get confusing once baby arrives.

What things did you do to make your older kid feel special before you had another?
