Looks like another small but encouraging step has been made by a Republican showing support of marriage equality: Former President George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara attended the wedding last weekend of two female friends Bonnie Clement and Helen Thorgalsen in Maine. Furthermore, Bush was an official witness, having signed the couple's marriage license! Very nice.
Although Bush spokesman Jim McGrath made a point to state that the former president and his wife attended the affair as private citizens, tongues are now clucking that this was the elder Bush's attempt to make a quiet statement that he supports same-sex marriage.
Hmm, it's quite possible ... After all, he wouldn't be a lone wolf in the Bush brood! And it would have been a long time coming! After all, we've known for a while now that George W. Bush's wife, Laura Bush, their daughter Barbara Bush, and George W. Bush's former vice president, Dick Cheney (whose daughter, Mary Cheney, is openly gay), are all publicly supportive of same-sex marriage.
While H.W.'s spokesman's statement is a bit disconcerting -- because why do they have to be so "private" about their true feelings here? -- I still feel like we could see the 89-year-old's presence at the happy occasion as a good sign. The 41st president may not be giving speeches at gay pride parade a la Lady Gaga, but his attendance at this wedding is still small but significant proof that representatives from both sides of the aisle are coming together on marriage equality. Cheers to that!
Do you think #41 supports same-sex marriage? Do you think it matters?

Lamar Odom is finally home, but that doesn't mean everything is magically all better for him and the little missus. Exhibit A:
Sex can be one of the most amazing things in the world or the most dreaded, all depending on your mindset. Of course there are things we
Right now, I only have one child, but from what I hear, there are a wide variety of emotions that come into play before baby #2 makes his or her debut. And I can only imagine. When I think about having another child, I look at my daughter and think, "Gosh, how could I possibly love someone else this much? My heart is filled to the brim!" Okay, that's a little cheesy, but that's the honest to god general sentiment. Then I think about adding the hormones from pregnancy into the mix, and oof. The whole thing seems so ... emotional. But I'd like to have another baby someday. Maybe even two. But I, like all moms, want to be sure to soak up every minute with my "big girl" before the next baby makes their grand entrance.
