Banning Lindsay Lohan's Parents From Her New Show Is Best for Everyone

Lindsay Lohan finally seems to be getting her act together, and I couldn’t be happier for her. After successfully completing a 90-day rehab stint in July, she sat down with Oprah to talk openly about her addictions and admitted that she knows that she’s her “own worst enemy.” As they say, admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery.

The comeback kid has also signed a deal with Oprah’s OWN network to film her struggle to rebuild her life. It’s now being reported by TMZ that Lindsay’s parents, Michael and Dina Lohan, have been banned from the upcoming reality show.

The rumor is that the producers banned the Lohan parents because they “feared the show didn’t have a clear direction,” and they want the show to focus on Lindsay’s recovery rather than her family issues. Michael objected to the report, saying that he’s already filmed three scenes, and that the producers asked him back for more. No official word on whether the scenes will ultimately make the final cut.

It’s probably a good move for Lindsay to cut her parents from the series, even if it ends up being a disappointment for viewers. I mean, Michael and Dina are kind of like a train wreck that you can’t tear your eyes away from. Seriously -- in the last couple of weeks alone, Dina got arrested for a DUI and it’s been reported that Michael’s estranged lovechild has undergone extensive plastic surgery to look more like her famous half-sister.

That makes for some good viewing, my friends.

But the thing is ... this is someone’s real life, not just a convoluted plot cooked up by some people in Hollywood for the sole purpose of entertaining us. Lindsay seems like she’s firmly on the path to real recovery, and it might be a good idea to put some space between herself and her volatile parents. In other words, let’s not throw her back into the crazy pit.

Maybe someday when she’s stronger, but right now her recovery is just beginning. Besides, LiLo is funny and cute and entertaining all on her own. Let's give her a chance to shine again.

Okay, guys, I don't want to jinx anything here, but I think ... I think ... Lindsay Lohan just might be getting her mojo back. For realz this time! The formerly troubled starlet (yeah, that's right, I said "formerly"! Cause let's try some positive thinking for a change!) made an appearance on Jimmy Fallon last night as a guest on the Wayne's World-esque tween girl talk show "Ew!" and guess what? She was really, really funny. Really! I mean, remember last year when she hosted SNL and it was supposed to be a big "comeback" type thing and it was more of a "come again?!" kind of thing? Well, all of that weirdly nervous, unfocused, I'm all messed up and I don't know why/feeling kinda freaky and that's no lie energy was gone last night, and in its place was vintage LiLo. 

Hmm, could this be a good omen for our favorite morgue janitor?

HELL to the YES, I say!! Let's think about this for a minute: See, Lindsay Lohan used to be an actress, remember?? Before she became a pro car crasher/Ambien taker/jewelry thief, girlfriend was an actress -- and a good one at that. (I hate to drag out ye ol' Mean Girls reference, but how awesome was she back then??) So now that she's back to kicking ass as a performer, she'll start remembering how great that feels (a better high than any drug ... right?? No, seriously!) and want to keep kicking ass again and again. And she must know by now that too much gypsy-punching does not a successful acting career make.

Lindsay Lohan Doesn't Have to Quit Smoking to Prove She's on the Mend

Lindsay Lohan may have sworn up and down to Oprah that she's turning over a new leaf and striving to lead a clean, sober life post-rehab, but that hasn't stopped her from lighting up. Since her OWN interview aired, the actress has been photographed smoking cigarettes at various locations, my favorite of which has to be on an NYC sidewalk right after taking a Soul Cycle spin class. HA! 

So much for embracing a completely healthy lifestyle! But hey, baby steps, right?

I mean, let's be real here. While it would be awesome to think Lindsay might have walked out of rehab Adderall-, alcohol-, coke-, and nicotine-free, I'm actually not at all surprised that she's still having at the cancer sticks. It just wouldn't be realistic to expect LiLo to have dropped every single crappy habit she's battled over the past, what, 10+ years already. You can't expect someone who is battling various addiction demons to take on too much at once.

When you have much bigger, more immediately pressing health issues/concerns to contend with -- like Lindsay does -- I don't see any point in freaking out about the slightly (key word -- cigarettes are still disgusting) less detrimental, more minor vices. One thing at a time! It's a little bit like trying to lose weight by eating frozen meals or 100-calorie snack bars. No, they're not ideal, whole, super-nutritious foods, but if they can help you learn basic portion control and calorie-counting, at least it's somewhere to start.

Sure, doing a "full clean sweep" and completely trading all of her toxic vices for green juice, chia seeds, and meditation straightaway would have probably been a bit too ambitious for Lindz. Of course I hope she'll kick the cigs at some point, but in the meantime, we should take heart in the fact that it looks like the worst thing she's doing right now is smoking her brains out. Which is totally gross, but it's not like it's going to keep her from moving on with her life. As long as she stays far away from falling back on the bottle and/or anything else illegal, she's in better shape than she was before!

Lindsay Lohan's Interview with Oprah: 8 Mind-Blowing Moments

Four days out of her sixth rehab stay, The Canyons star Lindsay Lohan stopped by to chat with Oprah Winfrey for her show Next Chapter. Where else would you go, right? Lindsay looked better than she has in a long time. Her skin was glowing. She's back to her red hair (goodbye to that godawful platinum). And whoever did her makeup did a really good job! That said, Linds was there to purge her demons. Confession is good for the soul. And Oprah is a celeb's favorite confessional. She's the high priestess of celebrity-gone-wrong atonement. So what did Lindsay have to say? Let's get to it, shall we. Here are eight watercooler moments from the interview.

1. Her jail sentence. Lindsay was sentenced to 90 days in jail back in 2010. Although Linds said this wasn't her full wake up call, it was like a half wakeup call. Kind of like the phone rings and you hear it, but you're really sleepy, and so you only half wake up, and then you roll over and go back to sleep. Only Lindsay rolled over and then went back to party. "I was terrified," says Linds of her time in the clink. "But not terrified enough to stop what you were doing?" asked Oprah. "No," said Lindsay. She also added that, subconsciously, she "wanted" to go to jail. Just to "get some peace." Dang, life must be rough when jail seems like a good way to relax.

2. Lindsay is an addict. Oprah came right out and asked if Lindsay was an addict and she said "Yeah." So that's settled.

3. Lindsay is addicted to alcohol. Asked her drug of choice, LiLo said alcohol. Though she admits that she wouldn't have turned down a nice Adderall/cocaine/martini cocktail. But that's all in the past.

4. Why this time is different. Sixth time is the charm for Lindsay. She's now feeling "spiritual," and "ready to get honest." She is also "exhausted by the chaos." She'd also like to get back to something close to the proximity of the acting respect she used to enjoy. But, you know, one day at a time ...

5. Lindsay blew all of her money. At one point, Linds was making $7 million a film. She has no idea where it went. I assure you I don't have it.

6. Her parents. Lindsay says she is still very close with her parents, Michael and Dina, despite all of the dysfunction and drama they caused her. "I hate what a bad rap people give my parents," she said. "But I've asked that they keep our life private, please." Hear that, Michael? No more selling your private phone calls with your daughter, 'kay?

7. Lindsay knows she could be dead. Lindsay acknowledged that her lifestyle could have ended tragically, as it has for so many others. "I've got some serious guardian angels," she said. True, but guardian angels get worn out too. No one should count on them for too long.

8. Lindsay won't be going to Europe thanks to Oprah "Buzzkill" Winfrey. When Lindsay's plans to head to Europe for a yoga and meditation retreat leaked to Oprah, she basically forbade Linds to go, worried it would topple her resolve to not party. Because, you know, there's so much partying in those darn meditation retreats! Those stinkin' monks are always getting wasted! Anyway, two days after the interview, LiLo cancelled her trip. So, that's a wrap, folks. Lindsay sounds like she's serious this time. Lindsay is no dummy and she's got a certain vulnerability about her that makes you root for her. Her insistence that she wanted to be back on top of her career again was a little unsettling -- career success is not the gateway to serenity. But we shall see what happens.

As Oprah said to Lindsay, "I want you to win." I think we'd all like her to win. But sometimes the only way to win is not to play.

Lindsay, before her stint in rehab.These days, Lindsay Lohan is better known for her substance abuse issues than for her once-stellar acting ability. It really is a shame how far her star has fallen. Even notables like Ben Affleck are trying to help the poor girl get back on her feet. Well, now that her 90-day stint in rehab is finally over, it seems that Lindsay could be ready for a real comeback. The proof? The recent selfie she posted on Instagram. Read on to see for yourself.

We had gotten so accustomed to seeing the actress look puffy and haggard with straggly hair. She looked more like a 45-year-old than a 20-something. It was obvious to all that something was seriously wrong with her. But now clean and sober, her newfound sobriety shows on her face. Lindsay recently posted this stunning photo for fans and she looks amazing.

Anyone who takes a look at her "before" and "after" photos can't deny how drugs can ravage the body, even in someone so young. Not only is her skin radiant and glowing, she looks healthy. She added the caption, "#back@work! So grateful today!:)." It's certainly been a long road to recovery for the star. She has been plagued with more legal drama and scandal than any other marquee name in Hollywood. She was given so many second chances and she seemed to just squander them all. People actually began placing bets as to whether her next move would be to jail or a cemetery plot. It was so sad. But this gives everyone hope that she can recoup what she has lost. This is the Lindsay die-hard fans have waited for: fresh-faced and ready to fulfill her potential. Let's just hope she makes it this time.

Es cierto: al parecer Sr. Garner LiLo una visita durante su estancia en Cliffside Malibu, presumiblemente para pasar un poco de las cosas que aprendió durante su periodo en rehabilitación por alcoholismo (en el año 2001. Olvidé que alguna vez fue a rehabilitación, personalmente!). Según "fuentes", palabras sabias de Ben para LiLo incluyen reflexiones sobre "lo talentosa que es y cómo tiene la capacidad de transformar las cosas," así como "Cómo apoya la comunidad del entretenimiento es para personas que hacen un esfuerzo real para mejorar y estar limpio". Lindsay Lohan Mocks Kanye West But Forgets That He's 'God'

Yesterday when I wrote about Lindsay Lohan picking on Kristen Stewart, I said she should go for some bigger fish. And last night on Chelsea Lately, she did not disappoint -- she took on Justin Bieber, Anthony Weiner, One Direction's Harry Styles -- even Chelsea Handler and herself. Excellent. But best of all, LiLo went after Mr. Kanye West. Oh Kanye, he provides such rich, delicious material for jokes. Because. Kanye.

Such a gift, and what does Lindsay do? She makes a couple of weak jokes and moves on. MOVES ON! Kanye with all his wacky Kanyeness and she just makes two lame jokes? Ugh. Here they are. Let's discuss.

Lame Kanye joke #1: She thanks Kanye for "acting like a baby and making a baby" with Kim Kardashian. (I guess that gets a "heh" for accuracy.)

Lame Kanye joke #2: "How come when Kanye acts like an idiot, he gets a gold record, but when I act like an idiot, I get a police record? I still haven't figured that out." (SIGH. Because as batty as Kanye is, he makes some pretty amazing shit. And you do not. That is why.)

Really, you could do an entire Chelsea Lately special just on Kanye West quotes. And let me be clear here -- I respect the guy as an artist, and I know his mother's death was extremely hard on him. But damn, his interviews are the funniest interviews of all time. Will you please enjoy these Kanyesms with me?

1. On Watch the Throne, his 2011 collaboration with Jay-Z: “It was like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates talking at the same time. You know which one of us was Steve.”

2. “You know how they say, ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’? I want to be master of all. And not even to be a jack but a king. In fact, not even a king. An ace.”

3. “I’m Christian in the same way that people have issues with certain elements of Christianity. It’s like if you go into a Ralph Lauren store, maybe that buyer didn’t do the exact buy that you want, but you still really like that brand.”

4. “Visiting my mind is like visiting the Hermès factory. Shit is real. You’re not going to find a chink. It’s 100,000 percent Jimi Hendrix.”

5. “God’s little practical joke on me -- as an intellect who doesn’t like to read a lot -- is like, I’ll say some super-philosophical shit, but I’ll say it the wrong way. I’ll use the wrong word, so it goes from being really special to completely retarded.” (Kanye, we don't use that word that way.)

6. When Kris Jenner hears a song from Kanye's new album and says, "Great job!”: "Great job?" (Toasting with a champagne flute) "Great job, Baccarat, for making a glass that can hold liquid!” (Looking down at his waist) “Great job, belt loops, for keeping my pants up!”

7. “I care about everything. Sometimes not giving a fuck is caring the most.”

8. And finally, two different takes on what the song "I Am God" is all about.

"I wrote 'I Am a God' 'cause it’s like, yo! Nobody can tell me where I can and can’t go. Man, I’m the #1 living and breathing rock star. I am Axl Rose; I am Jim Morrison; I am Jimi Hendrix.”

“I made that song because I am a god." (Laughs) "I don’t think there’s much more explanation. I’m not going to sit here and defend shit. That shit is rock ’n’ roll, man. That shit is rap music. I am a god. Now what?”

And all of that is just from one little interview W magazine did with Kanye. So many Easter eggs! Now come on, can we please get serious about making fun of Kanye? LiLo, you need a new writer. Also, I may be just a little bit obsessed with Kanye West.

Okay, Lindsay Lohan. We get it. You've been to hell and back at least half a dozen times, which means you've earned your crown as the most cynical woman in Hollywood. But come on, picking on Kristen Stewart? Stepping directly from rehab to a guest-hosting gig on Chelsea Lately, LiLo threw some serious shade on KStew -- even though she claims she's a fan.

First she brought up Kristen's recent dustup with a photographer. "I'm just excited that Kristen Stewart, you know, finally showed some emotion." Oh ha ha, she went there. That joke is so stale, I made it months ago. But come on, KStew has been through a lot since then. She just got dumped by her boyfriend. I thought we all loved it when she attacked the paparazzi.

Lindsay backtracked a little and gave us the "no really I love her I'm such a fan" line, which is actually what comedians say to set up the next roasting: "I will say this, of course she hates photographers -- they got a picture of her kissing a married man in a Mini Cooper." Aw, you had to bring that up again! (Although nice touch there, mentioning the Mini Cooper as there's just something especially comical about that car. Oh wait -- whose side am I on, anyway?)

I don't know, does it make anyone else cringe to see Lindsay knocking other stars when they're already down? It almost seems too easy. I know it's been a rough year for Lindsay, too, and who can blame her for cracking a few insults. But still ... aren't there some bigger fish Lindsay could go after? Maybe not. Maybe she doesn't feel like she can afford to make fun of anyone too powerful at the moment. Well anyway, I'm sure the KStew haters will eat it all up.

Ooh, know what would be so tedious? A LiLo/KStew feud. Sing with me! Wanna be starting something, wanna be starting something.

Sneak Peek of Lindsay Lohan’s Oprah Interview: The Question That Could Make or Break LiLo’s Career (VIDEO)

All eyes are on Lindsay Lohan this week -- even more so than usual. Fresh out of rehab, the "troubled starlet" is back in the spotlight big time, guest hosting Chelsea Lately tonight (preview clips are awesome!) and having an interview with Oprah Winfrey set to air on OWN on August 18 (in advance of an eight-episode reality series on the same network slated for 2014). Is a real comeback in the cards? It may all depend on how LiLo answers Oprah's hard-hitting questions (previewed in a super intense teaser clip below). Because people are totally ready to give Lohan another chance -- again -- but this time, LiLo is going to have to work to prove that she's on the right track for real ... to her fans, of course, and especially to Oprah. 

In the clip, we hear Oprah ask: "Are you an addict?" and "What does it feel like to be both an adjective and a verb for child-star-gone-wrong?" Whoa -- no pressure!

See, Lohan has little to no margin for error at this point -- the way she handles those questions is key, from a PR perspective at least. And I, for one, am hopeful: If the rumors going around are true, it does sound like LiLo is taking real steps to tackle her issues with alcohol (making sure all booze is removed from hotels, green rooms, etc., before she gets there), even if she does have a lingering problem with Adderall (which we don't know for sure). 

This clip is pretty short -- like, don't blink or you'll miss it short -- but LiLo's facial expressions and Oprah's direct manner speak volumes:

Lindsay Lohan Makes Powerful Decision That Can Change Her Life

It looks like Lindsay Lohan may have finally gotten her act together. Or at least -- is ready to take the steps she needs in order to straighten out her life. It has been some roller-coaster of a ride. But coming off the announcement that she will have her own reality show, has completed rehab, and has filmed a guest stint on Chelsea Handler's late night talk show, Chelsea Lately (airing Monday) -- Lohan is really making us believe she is ready. But it is really her latest move that can possibly change her life ... 

Lindsay has made it known that wants to clear all alcohol from whatever space she is going to occupy. And that's not an easy task. Because alcohol is everywhere. But she's reportedly asked her mother, Dina, to remove alcohol from her home when she visits and plans to ask hotels and green rooms to do the same. In fact, this week she asked the Beverly Hills Hotel to take all alcohol out of her room prior to her arrival. So she is taking the right steps ... the question is will she be able to keep it up. Hopefully the fact she is traveling with a sober coach for the next week will help.

Insider Secrets From Lindsay Lohan's Rehab Stay May Surprise You (VIDEO)

Lindsay Lohan is out of rehab and looks, well, pretty amazing by LiLo standards! The buzz surrounding her visit to the Cliffside Malibu Treatment Center is mostly positive, and now, a member of her recovery group, Tommy Tracy, is speaking out about what the troubled actress was really like behind closed doors. He sounds like a screwball jerk to be squawking about LiLo to the press and so quickly. Not cool. But we still had to know what he has to say ...

Tracy told FOX 5, "[Lindsay]'s got a lot of strong talent acting, but there really wasn't acting there. There was really more soul searching there and her inter-development of her well-being and wanting to gain independence for herself." Hmm, seems promising, right?

He continued ...

[She was] really taking Alcoholics Anonymous seriously and wanting things to be different. Really contemplating life, what is really important in life. ... The party is over, and it is pretty much time for her to get serious about what she is doing in her career. I just don't see any signs of it being a problem.

Tommy, whose son got a birthday shout-out from LiLo on Twitter, went on to say he feels like Lindsay's "heart is in the right place. I can honestly tell you she would sit with her little notebook and she would be working on her 12 steps all the time. I have never seen someone so committed to it."

Not to be a total Debbie Downer, but this guy may just want his 15 seconds of fame and feels like he can get that by saying the opposite of what everyone else is saying ...

Unfortunately, not everyone seems to think Lindsay's recovery is a sure thing ... Director Paul Schrader, who worked with Lindsay Lohan on her new movie The Canyons, seems to believe her struggles with alcohol are overplayed, noting that he thinks she's just a "cheap drunk." Instead, he thinks her real problem is an addiction to the ADD prescription drug Adderall. Bret Easton Ellis, known for his big mouth on Twitter and penning The Canyons, seems to feel similarly, noting that he thinks her Adderall use may have made her "bossy" and affected her behavior otherwise on the set.

Meanwhile, Lindsay says she needs the amphetamine to control her severe ADD, and although she was off it in rehab, she reportedly wants her prescription refilled ASAP. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out ... But for LiLo's sake, I hope Tommy Tracy is on to something about her fate.
