Banning Lindsay Lohan's Parents From Her New Show Is Best for Everyone

Lindsay Lohan finally seems to be getting her act together, and I couldn’t be happier for her. After successfully completing a 90-day rehab stint in July, she sat down with Oprah to talk openly about her addictions and admitted that she knows that she’s her “own worst enemy.” As they say, admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery.

The comeback kid has also signed a deal with Oprah’s OWN network to film her struggle to rebuild her life. It’s now being reported by TMZ that Lindsay’s parents, Michael and Dina Lohan, have been banned from the upcoming reality show.

The rumor is that the producers banned the Lohan parents because they “feared the show didn’t have a clear direction,” and they want the show to focus on Lindsay’s recovery rather than her family issues. Michael objected to the report, saying that he’s already filmed three scenes, and that the producers asked him back for more. No official word on whether the scenes will ultimately make the final cut.

It’s probably a good move for Lindsay to cut her parents from the series, even if it ends up being a disappointment for viewers. I mean, Michael and Dina are kind of like a train wreck that you can’t tear your eyes away from. Seriously -- in the last couple of weeks alone, Dina got arrested for a DUI and it’s been reported that Michael’s estranged lovechild has undergone extensive plastic surgery to look more like her famous half-sister.

That makes for some good viewing, my friends.

But the thing is ... this is someone’s real life, not just a convoluted plot cooked up by some people in Hollywood for the sole purpose of entertaining us. Lindsay seems like she’s firmly on the path to real recovery, and it might be a good idea to put some space between herself and her volatile parents. In other words, let’s not throw her back into the crazy pit.

Maybe someday when she’s stronger, but right now her recovery is just beginning. Besides, LiLo is funny and cute and entertaining all on her own. Let's give her a chance to shine again.

Okay, guys, I don't want to jinx anything here, but I think ... I think ... Lindsay Lohan just might be getting her mojo back. For realz this time! The formerly troubled starlet (yeah, that's right, I said "formerly"! Cause let's try some positive thinking for a change!) made an appearance on Jimmy Fallon last night as a guest on the Wayne's World-esque tween girl talk show "Ew!" and guess what? She was really, really funny. Really! I mean, remember last year when she hosted SNL and it was supposed to be a big "comeback" type thing and it was more of a "come again?!" kind of thing? Well, all of that weirdly nervous, unfocused, I'm all messed up and I don't know why/feeling kinda freaky and that's no lie energy was gone last night, and in its place was vintage LiLo. 

Hmm, could this be a good omen for our favorite morgue janitor?

HELL to the YES, I say!! Let's think about this for a minute: See, Lindsay Lohan used to be an actress, remember?? Before she became a pro car crasher/Ambien taker/jewelry thief, girlfriend was an actress -- and a good one at that. (I hate to drag out ye ol' Mean Girls reference, but how awesome was she back then??) So now that she's back to kicking ass as a performer, she'll start remembering how great that feels (a better high than any drug ... right?? No, seriously!) and want to keep kicking ass again and again. And she must know by now that too much gypsy-punching does not a successful acting career make.

Dina Lohan's Alleged DUI Could Be Just the Thing to Keep LiLo on the Straight and Narrow

It's a good thing the Lohans are a photogenic family, because their mugshot gallery just keeps getting bigger! And nope, we're not talking about now (hopefully) sober LiLo -- this time, it's 50-year-old Dina Lohan who's in trouble with the law, getting arrested last night for drunk driving in Long Island, New York.

Mama Lohan was allegedly driving 77 mph in a 55 mph zone when cops pulled her over at around 11 p.m. on Thursday night, with a blood alcohol level registering at .20 (over twice the legal limit of .08). Dina was booked on two counts of driving while intoxicated and one count of speeding, then released to an unidentified "sober third party," but is due in court later this month. Yikes!

Now, I have to tell you that, initially, I was extremely tempted to go on a "guess the Lohan doesn't fall far from the tree" type rant about this unfortunate event. 

You know, "of course Lindsay is a mess with a mom like that, yada yada yada, this is probably going to screw up her newfound sobriety big time, blah blah." But then I realized something -- it could be that the exact opposite is true. Think about it: Back when Lindsay was crashing Porsches and mopping up morgues and slapping gypsies, her mom's behavior probably seemed completely fine. Better than fine, even -- what's better than a mom who's also a drinking buddy?? (Obviously lots of things, but you get my point.) Now that Lindsay is cleaning up her act, she's probably seeing things a lot more clearly -- seeing things for what they truly are. Meaning, she's probably realizing that she doesn't want to end up like her mom, still posing for drunken mugshots at 50 years old. And that's the kind of realization that could keep LiLo on the straight and narrow for a long, long time.

Lindsay Lohan's Interview with Oprah: 8 Mind-Blowing Moments

Four days out of her sixth rehab stay, The Canyons star Lindsay Lohan stopped by to chat with Oprah Winfrey for her show Next Chapter. Where else would you go, right? Lindsay looked better than she has in a long time. Her skin was glowing. She's back to her red hair (goodbye to that godawful platinum). And whoever did her makeup did a really good job! That said, Linds was there to purge her demons. Confession is good for the soul. And Oprah is a celeb's favorite confessional. She's the high priestess of celebrity-gone-wrong atonement. So what did Lindsay have to say? Let's get to it, shall we. Here are eight watercooler moments from the interview.

1. Her jail sentence. Lindsay was sentenced to 90 days in jail back in 2010. Although Linds said this wasn't her full wake up call, it was like a half wakeup call. Kind of like the phone rings and you hear it, but you're really sleepy, and so you only half wake up, and then you roll over and go back to sleep. Only Lindsay rolled over and then went back to party. "I was terrified," says Linds of her time in the clink. "But not terrified enough to stop what you were doing?" asked Oprah. "No," said Lindsay. She also added that, subconsciously, she "wanted" to go to jail. Just to "get some peace." Dang, life must be rough when jail seems like a good way to relax.

2. Lindsay is an addict. Oprah came right out and asked if Lindsay was an addict and she said "Yeah." So that's settled.

3. Lindsay is addicted to alcohol. Asked her drug of choice, LiLo said alcohol. Though she admits that she wouldn't have turned down a nice Adderall/cocaine/martini cocktail. But that's all in the past.

4. Why this time is different. Sixth time is the charm for Lindsay. She's now feeling "spiritual," and "ready to get honest." She is also "exhausted by the chaos." She'd also like to get back to something close to the proximity of the acting respect she used to enjoy. But, you know, one day at a time ...

5. Lindsay blew all of her money. At one point, Linds was making $7 million a film. She has no idea where it went. I assure you I don't have it.

6. Her parents. Lindsay says she is still very close with her parents, Michael and Dina, despite all of the dysfunction and drama they caused her. "I hate what a bad rap people give my parents," she said. "But I've asked that they keep our life private, please." Hear that, Michael? No more selling your private phone calls with your daughter, 'kay?

7. Lindsay knows she could be dead. Lindsay acknowledged that her lifestyle could have ended tragically, as it has for so many others. "I've got some serious guardian angels," she said. True, but guardian angels get worn out too. No one should count on them for too long.

8. Lindsay won't be going to Europe thanks to Oprah "Buzzkill" Winfrey. When Lindsay's plans to head to Europe for a yoga and meditation retreat leaked to Oprah, she basically forbade Linds to go, worried it would topple her resolve to not party. Because, you know, there's so much partying in those darn meditation retreats! Those stinkin' monks are always getting wasted! Anyway, two days after the interview, LiLo cancelled her trip. So, that's a wrap, folks. Lindsay sounds like she's serious this time. Lindsay is no dummy and she's got a certain vulnerability about her that makes you root for her. Her insistence that she wanted to be back on top of her career again was a little unsettling -- career success is not the gateway to serenity. But we shall see what happens.

As Oprah said to Lindsay, "I want you to win." I think we'd all like her to win. But sometimes the only way to win is not to play.

Lindsay, before her stint in rehab.These days, Lindsay Lohan is better known for her substance abuse issues than for her once-stellar acting ability. It really is a shame how far her star has fallen. Even notables like Ben Affleck are trying to help the poor girl get back on her feet. Well, now that her 90-day stint in rehab is finally over, it seems that Lindsay could be ready for a real comeback. The proof? The recent selfie she posted on Instagram. Read on to see for yourself.

We had gotten so accustomed to seeing the actress look puffy and haggard with straggly hair. She looked more like a 45-year-old than a 20-something. It was obvious to all that something was seriously wrong with her. But now clean and sober, her newfound sobriety shows on her face. Lindsay recently posted this stunning photo for fans and she looks amazing.

Anyone who takes a look at her "before" and "after" photos can't deny how drugs can ravage the body, even in someone so young. Not only is her skin radiant and glowing, she looks healthy. She added the caption, "#back@work! So grateful today!:)." It's certainly been a long road to recovery for the star. She has been plagued with more legal drama and scandal than any other marquee name in Hollywood. She was given so many second chances and she seemed to just squander them all. People actually began placing bets as to whether her next move would be to jail or a cemetery plot. It was so sad. But this gives everyone hope that she can recoup what she has lost. This is the Lindsay die-hard fans have waited for: fresh-faced and ready to fulfill her potential. Let's just hope she makes it this time.

Sneak Peek of Lindsay Lohan’s Oprah Interview: The Question That Could Make or Break LiLo’s Career (VIDEO)

All eyes are on Lindsay Lohan this week -- even more so than usual. Fresh out of rehab, the "troubled starlet" is back in the spotlight big time, guest hosting Chelsea Lately tonight (preview clips are awesome!) and having an interview with Oprah Winfrey set to air on OWN on August 18 (in advance of an eight-episode reality series on the same network slated for 2014). Is a real comeback in the cards? It may all depend on how LiLo answers Oprah's hard-hitting questions (previewed in a super intense teaser clip below). Because people are totally ready to give Lohan another chance -- again -- but this time, LiLo is going to have to work to prove that she's on the right track for real ... to her fans, of course, and especially to Oprah. 

In the clip, we hear Oprah ask: "Are you an addict?" and "What does it feel like to be both an adjective and a verb for child-star-gone-wrong?" Whoa -- no pressure!

See, Lohan has little to no margin for error at this point -- the way she handles those questions is key, from a PR perspective at least. And I, for one, am hopeful: If the rumors going around are true, it does sound like LiLo is taking real steps to tackle her issues with alcohol (making sure all booze is removed from hotels, green rooms, etc., before she gets there), even if she does have a lingering problem with Adderall (which we don't know for sure). 

This clip is pretty short -- like, don't blink or you'll miss it short -- but LiLo's facial expressions and Oprah's direct manner speak volumes:

Insider Secrets From Lindsay Lohan's Rehab Stay May Surprise You (VIDEO)

Lindsay Lohan is out of rehab and looks, well, pretty amazing by LiLo standards! The buzz surrounding her visit to the Cliffside Malibu Treatment Center is mostly positive, and now, a member of her recovery group, Tommy Tracy, is speaking out about what the troubled actress was really like behind closed doors. He sounds like a screwball jerk to be squawking about LiLo to the press and so quickly. Not cool. But we still had to know what he has to say ...

Tracy told FOX 5, "[Lindsay]'s got a lot of strong talent acting, but there really wasn't acting there. There was really more soul searching there and her inter-development of her well-being and wanting to gain independence for herself." Hmm, seems promising, right?

He continued ...

[She was] really taking Alcoholics Anonymous seriously and wanting things to be different. Really contemplating life, what is really important in life. ... The party is over, and it is pretty much time for her to get serious about what she is doing in her career. I just don't see any signs of it being a problem.

Tommy, whose son got a birthday shout-out from LiLo on Twitter, went on to say he feels like Lindsay's "heart is in the right place. I can honestly tell you she would sit with her little notebook and she would be working on her 12 steps all the time. I have never seen someone so committed to it."

Not to be a total Debbie Downer, but this guy may just want his 15 seconds of fame and feels like he can get that by saying the opposite of what everyone else is saying ...

Unfortunately, not everyone seems to think Lindsay's recovery is a sure thing ... Director Paul Schrader, who worked with Lindsay Lohan on her new movie The Canyons, seems to believe her struggles with alcohol are overplayed, noting that he thinks she's just a "cheap drunk." Instead, he thinks her real problem is an addiction to the ADD prescription drug Adderall. Bret Easton Ellis, known for his big mouth on Twitter and penning The Canyons, seems to feel similarly, noting that he thinks her Adderall use may have made her "bossy" and affected her behavior otherwise on the set.

Meanwhile, Lindsay says she needs the amphetamine to control her severe ADD, and although she was off it in rehab, she reportedly wants her prescription refilled ASAP. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out ... But for LiLo's sake, I hope Tommy Tracy is on to something about her fate.
