Colton RomneyAfter seeing this photo of a military dad watching his twins' birth via Skype all the way from Afghanistan, it's easy to understand why it's going viral. I mean, we hear about soldiers witnessing their children's deliveries while stationed overseas all the time, but it's not very often that the actual moment is captured on film.

But luckily, someone had a camera nearby when Colton Romney was watching his wife, Shannon, undergoing a C-section to welcome their twin daughters, Liberty and Lauren, into this world. This allowed Shannon to see his reaction even though he wasn't physically there with her.

Take a look at this video clip to hear more about the birth.

Aww! Their story is so beautiful yet very bittersweet at the same time. It's so wonderful that we have the kind of technology these days to allow these dads to be "present" in the delivery room in a way, yet it's still so tough to think about parents going through such an emotional experience without each other.

Put yourself in Colton's shoes -- can you imagine how hard it must have been for him to hang up that phone after the birth? I'm sure all he wanted to do was hop on a plane and head home to be with all three of his girls immediately. Knowing that wasn't an option must have been heartbreaking.

And that brings us to Shannon. The thought of giving birth to twins without your husband by your side is gut-wrenching enough -- but when you throw in the fact that he's still deployed and she's getting ready to bring them home from the hospital alone, it's pretty impossible to conceive of.

But I guess there is one bright light -- at least Shannon did not technically have to spend her birthday alone, since the twins arrived that very same day. If Colton couldn't be there, at least she wound up with two incredibly special and irreplaceable presents!

Were you moved to tears by this photo?

Stranger Who Helped Woman Deliver Twins After Car Accident Gets Touching Reward

pregnant bellyThere are so many things that can go wrong when in labor and Jessica Stanley, a Florida mom pregnant with twins, experienced one of the most terrifying incidents when it was go-time. The car she was driving in crashed into another car while she was in labor. Jessica's fiance, Antavian Milton, was driving her and their three other children to the hospital because Jessica's water broke. Another car pulled out in front of them and Jessica remembers hitting her head on the windshield and then she blacked out.

Within seconds Betty Horne, a gastroenterology tech at Baptist Hospital, who was in the car behind them, ran to help. Horne had no idea what would happen next would change her life forever.

The panicked dad Milton jumped out the car when Horne approached yelling, "I'm gonna have a baby, she's gonna have twins." Horne reportedly looked in the car and she saw one baby already crowning. She grabbed a towel from her car and caught the baby as he was being born. He wasn't breathing. She swiped the back of the baby's mouth with her fingers to clear the airway and baby started crying. And what a beautiful sound that must have been amidst all the chaos.

New mom Jessica was alert and Horne passed her the baby boy. They named him Antavian II and he weighed 7 pounds and 13 ounces, which is very impressive for a twin. The paramedics arrived and took Jessica to the hospital to deliver baby number 2 by cesarean. That little bundle weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces and was given the name Antavian III! How very, very sweet -- both named after proud papa. I wonder what their nicknames are going to be!

Horne calls the experience "amazing" and was welcomed just like family there in the recovery room cradling the baby she helped deliver. "I don't even know what a hero is," she said when someone told her that she was one. "I tell you, I don't feel like a hero. I feel that that's something that we all got to do for each other. We all got to help each other."

The family honored Horne for being an amazing human being by asking her to be Antavian II's Godmother. What a beautiful gesture for a beautiful woman who sprang into action to help strangers, and whose actions helped bring a baby's life into this world -- a baby who is healthy and doing fantastic along with twin brother and mom.

Congrats to all!

Do you think you would know what to do if you witnessed a woman in labor? Have you feared being in a bad situation when ready to give birth?

7 Things People Really Think About Twins

by Brian Farnham 21 hours ago twinsMy wife is expecting twin boys (we've dubbed them Hans and Frans for now) and the news kind of rocked our world, given we already have two kids. We were trying for more but weren’t looking to double down, exactly.

Of course we’re excited to be expanding our family, but impending multiples has forced me to admit and rethink certain pre-conceived notions I held about the multi-zygotic subset of our species. Such as:

People expecting twins inspire pity. Whenever someone tells you they’re expecting twins, especially if you’re a father yourself, your first thought before congratulating them is always, “Wow. You’re screwed.”Identicals are creepy. Two (or more) people who look and act like each other makes humanity feel like something you can run off at Kinko’s.There are too many twins in the world. Twins used to seem kind of cool and unique, like iPhones. Now they seem ubiquitous and hackneyed, like iPhones. It’s us against them. When you’re expecting a single baby, it feels like you’re waiting for a special invited guest. When you’re expecting twins, it feels like you’re preparing for a rock band that’s planning on staying at your house.Everyone assumes it was IVF. Which makes some people look at you like, “Had to cheat, huh?”Rhyme-y or sound-alike twin names are annoying. Oh, it’s Jayden and Jacob? Lucy and Lacy? Brian and Brianna? Why don’t you just go ahead and name them Thing 1 and Thing 2?Dressing twins the same is cruel. Nothing quite says “If we lose one we have a spare” like matching outfits.

Kim Zolciak Is as Shocked She's Having Twins as We Are

Kim ZolciakHold onto your wigs, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak announced some big news today. While we knew she was expecting her fifth child, she revealed today that she's also expecting her sixth. That's right, it's twins for Kim and her husband, Kroy Bierman.

Holy cow. We already thought she was kind of crazy to get pregnant with three children so close together -- she announced this pregnancy just nine months after her last child was born. But to add a surprise one to that, and have four children under the age of three at one time ... wow. Just wow. Even Kim seems startled.

She told E! News:

I'm having twins and I couldn't be more excited. I was completely shocked. I had no idea. It was a natural conception, but twins do run in the family, so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised.

I don't care if twins do run in her family, I think anyone would be surprised by this news. It just goes to show once again that no matter how hard you try to control the size of your family, sometimes mother nature has other plans. Kim seems nothing less than thrilled with her rapidly expanding family though.

I can't believe I am going to be a mom to six children. It's going to be very busy but it's a dream come true.

Good for her. Despite all of the drama that played out on the show, it's clear that Kim's a devoted mom who loves her children, and Kroy seems to be an incredible dad. They have the means to get nannies and help as needed (Sweetie!), and it sounds like it will be a lively household. So good for them. Now the big question -- what will the sex of these babies be?

They already have two girls -- Brielle, 17, and Ariana, 12 (who Kroy recently adopted) -- and two boys -- Kroy Jr. 2, and Kash, 1. So will it be two of one sex to topple the teams, or one of each to keep things even? Only time (and possibly an ultrasound) will tell.

As for how many more children she plans to have, Kim said "this is it." Maybe, but as we've learned time and again when it comes to Kim, never say never.

Are you shocked that Kim is pregnant with twins? How do you think she'll handle that many small children?
