pregnant bellyThere are so many things that can go wrong when in labor and Jessica Stanley, a Florida mom pregnant with twins, experienced one of the most terrifying incidents when it was go-time. The car she was driving in crashed into another car while she was in labor. Jessica's fiance, Antavian Milton, was driving her and their three other children to the hospital because Jessica's water broke. Another car pulled out in front of them and Jessica remembers hitting her head on the windshield and then she blacked out.

Within seconds Betty Horne, a gastroenterology tech at Baptist Hospital, who was in the car behind them, ran to help. Horne had no idea what would happen next would change her life forever.

The panicked dad Milton jumped out the car when Horne approached yelling, "I'm gonna have a baby, she's gonna have twins." Horne reportedly looked in the car and she saw one baby already crowning. She grabbed a towel from her car and caught the baby as he was being born. He wasn't breathing. She swiped the back of the baby's mouth with her fingers to clear the airway and baby started crying. And what a beautiful sound that must have been amidst all the chaos.

New mom Jessica was alert and Horne passed her the baby boy. They named him Antavian II and he weighed 7 pounds and 13 ounces, which is very impressive for a twin. The paramedics arrived and took Jessica to the hospital to deliver baby number 2 by cesarean. That little bundle weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces and was given the name Antavian III! How very, very sweet -- both named after proud papa. I wonder what their nicknames are going to be!

Horne calls the experience "amazing" and was welcomed just like family there in the recovery room cradling the baby she helped deliver. "I don't even know what a hero is," she said when someone told her that she was one. "I tell you, I don't feel like a hero. I feel that that's something that we all got to do for each other. We all got to help each other."

The family honored Horne for being an amazing human being by asking her to be Antavian II's Godmother. What a beautiful gesture for a beautiful woman who sprang into action to help strangers, and whose actions helped bring a baby's life into this world -- a baby who is healthy and doing fantastic along with twin brother and mom.

Congrats to all!

Do you think you would know what to do if you witnessed a woman in labor? Have you feared being in a bad situation when ready to give birth?

loves vintage and will defend skinny jeans to the death though she is highly superstitious and "death" is probably a bad word choice. She has a touch of the hoarding disease and enjoys sleuthing, the worst reality shows, and wearing high heels, even at the playground. She's an AP mom of twins, slightly crunchy but with a pedicure.

dad hugging daughterOne of the hardest things about military deployments for a soldier is missing out on life's events back at home, big and small. When a military dad is away, he can't just put his oldest daughter's first day of school on hold or ask her dance instructor to postpone her big recital. Which is why reuniting with loved ones and catching up on absolutely everything that's happened is one of life's greatest joys for those in our military.

Take John, for instance. This military dad was stationed overseas in Afghanistan since May, and he recently gave his daughter Juliana a major surprise at school showing up after months away. Their reunion is absolutely adorable! Just you wait until you hear the one thing he notices about his daughter when he first looks at her:

A tooth! It's crazy to think that something as teeny as losing a tooth could be such a big deal to both daughter and father, but that's just one example of a life event that happens while dads, brothers, relatives, and friends are away serving our country. It's so heartwarming to see this father back with his daughter. And that hug? Ugh! The best.

I hope that now this duo's back together, they take this much-needed time to catch up on all the other important stuff (big and small). Welcome home!

How cute is this?

It's not easy being a single mother. Besides the social stigma that still exists, the judgmental attitudes, the sheer difficulty of finding the time to parent and work, there are the economic realities. Let's face it, not all fathers are helping out as much as they absolutely should financially, and that can leave the mom in the lurch. When one mom got desperate for the stuff she needed for her kids, she resorted to shoplifting. Definitely not an excuse, but it happened. However, after police were called to the scene -- where the mom was with her two children -- she got the surprise of her life.

Police were called to a K-Mart in West Virginia, and when they arrived they found a single mother who had shoplifted several items. But the items were clearly not for herself. In fact, the people she had stolen for were with her: Her 7-year-old daughter and her 2-year-old daughter. Said one of the officers:

She didn't take anything to benefit herself. She had only taken baby diapers, rash cream, and some clothes for her children, because she said she was going through kind of a rough divorce and her husband wasn't really helping out.

We all know how expensive diapers are!

The two cops, Ryan Willard and Duane Fields, were so touched they decided to buy the items for the woman. Now those are two men who were brought up right!

Wouldn't this be a great world if everyone occasionally reached out to help those in need? It's awesome that the cops, instead of sticking to the letter of the law, looked at the case individually for what it was -- a mom trying to help her babies, even though she was going the wrong way about it. We need more officers like this. We need more people like this.

The mom was so astonished and touched by what they did that she asked what she could do for them. Willard replied, "Try not to shoplift again."

K-Mart, however, did not drop the charges and the mom was fined $50. This is unfortunate since an arrest could prevent her from getting a job. But I realize that stores can't give away freebies to everyone who wants them or their shelves would be bare. But it would be helpful if a huge corporation like that could have some social outreach in their stores. Or point the mom to where she can get help. Her two daughters should not be watching her steal. She shouldn't be desperate enough that she has to steal.

And a big thank-you to those officers, eh? Being a cop isn't all about collaring bad guys and putting people in the clink. It's also about being good, honorable, and helpful. They seem to realize that.

What should have happened to this mom?

Lea Michele Steps Out With Touching Reminder of Cory Monteith (VIDEO)

Lea MicheleSince Cory Monteith died so suddenly and tragically, we've all been wondering how his girlfriend and Glee costar Lea Michele is doing. From the looks of it, she is holding up and was photographed yesterday for the first time since his death as she traveled in a car with a friend in Los Angeles. The most touching part? Lea was wearing a necklace that said "Cory."

Lea had her hair up and sunglasses on as she chatted with the driver, a female pal. Her silver "Cory" name plate chain was around her neck. Her only public statement about Cory was on Twitter, where she said:

Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support. Cory will forever be in my heart.

The necklace, worn near her heart, is a tangible reminder of her love. She has been photographed wearing the necklace many times -- including in the photo above, taken before his death -- and it appears to be her favorite piece of jewelry. Still is. Now even more so, I imagine.

Having something to wear that reminds you of a lost loved one is a wonderful way to keep that person close to you. Considering that Cory and Lea were always together and were reportedly going to move in together after he got back from Vancouver, she must have a bunch of his things at her place.

One of the most difficult things anyone who loses a loved one has to do is decide what to keep and what to part with that belonged to the loved one. Depending on how you grieve, you may find his things comforting -- or depressing.

But it looks like Lea is finding comfort in this reminder of Cory.

She also looks strong and together -- though I'm sure it's a different story inside.

Have you ever kept a remembrance of a loved one?
