you belong to meYou guys, prepare to die of cute. Prepare for your inevitable demise at the hands of an adorable little girl and her pink toy guitar-playing dad as they sing "Tonight You Belong to Me." Dad Benjamin Ames wanted to distract his daughter, who couldn't fall asleep because she thought she was hearing fireworks. Was she? Well ... I don't hear any. But she interrupts the song several times to tell her dad exactly how they should pause whenever they hear fireworks.

If you've ever tried to do something with a little interrupter, you'll relate. It's exasperating! But Ames shows a lot of patience with his daughter. Just so you know, they do finally get through the whole song. If daddy-daughter harmonies make you melt, you'll want to hang in there past the one-minute mark. I think it's worth it. But of course, the interruptions are funny, too.

I love how she knows all the words! I feel like every child needs at least one classic they can sing all the way through (or almost) with their parents. Every kid needs a song that comforts them at night when there are so many strange sounds.

It's kind of a long video (sad that 3:12 minutes is considered long ...), but if you have the time, they get to the horn section around the two-minute mark. It just ratchets up the charming hilarity even more. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to watch this video yet again and dissolve into a puddle of estrogen and sentimentality under my desk here.

Do your kids have favorite songs they like to sing with you?

Dads Are WAY Cooler With Each Other About Parenting Stuff Than Moms

david serchukI don’t know why, but from what I’ve seen dads are about 1000x chiller with one another than moms are. While you guys are all judging one another on just about everything -- breast feeding, sleeping, vaccinations, whatever -- we pretty much give the other dads we see high-fives, and nod. You’re doing your best, dog. I get it.

All you have to do is look at the comments section of any parenting site. (Maybe even this one? I won’t say.) If it has to do with birth, schooling, or, again, breast feeding, women are all up in one another’s business.

I just don’t see that from dads. You know how many negative comments and/or judgments I’ve gotten from my guy friends about my parenting? Absolutely zero. And I’ve been a dad for five years! I’m pretty sure I’ve made at least a few big mistakes in that time. In fact, I know it. I’ve even told some of my friends about these mistakes. Their response? Either they don’t care, or they understand, because they’ve made some mistakes too.

Do we dads set the bar too low? After all, we’ve heard a lot about the ongoing crisis in fatherhood. You know, deadbeat dads, dads barely in their kids’ lives, all that stuff. Maybe there wouldn’t be as many dad-related problems if we got a little preachy with one another? I can’t say. But we’re just not. (Maybe I’m just lucky all my friends are good dads?)

Where does this lack of parenting judgment come from? One guess: Dads just aren’t as fascinated by the families of their dad friends as moms are. Example: I’ll be on the phone with a friend, someone I haven’t spoken to for a while. At the end of it I’ll get off, having had a great time, catching up. My wife will ask how my friend is doing, and whether his pregnant wife finally gave birth. My answer: I don’t know? This always blows her mind.

But we were talking, you know? About stuff we always talk about: politics, comic books, maybe sports, stuff we did in summer camp in 1987. Timmy taking the bottle doesn’t always make the cut.

But if we did discuss our kids I’m pretty sure we would have said we each were doing a good job.

Why do you think dads aren't as judgmental of other dads as moms are of each other?

dad hugging daughterOne of the hardest things about military deployments for a soldier is missing out on life's events back at home, big and small. When a military dad is away, he can't just put his oldest daughter's first day of school on hold or ask her dance instructor to postpone her big recital. Which is why reuniting with loved ones and catching up on absolutely everything that's happened is one of life's greatest joys for those in our military.

Take John, for instance. This military dad was stationed overseas in Afghanistan since May, and he recently gave his daughter Juliana a major surprise at school showing up after months away. Their reunion is absolutely adorable! Just you wait until you hear the one thing he notices about his daughter when he first looks at her:

A tooth! It's crazy to think that something as teeny as losing a tooth could be such a big deal to both daughter and father, but that's just one example of a life event that happens while dads, brothers, relatives, and friends are away serving our country. It's so heartwarming to see this father back with his daughter. And that hug? Ugh! The best.

I hope that now this duo's back together, they take this much-needed time to catch up on all the other important stuff (big and small). Welcome home!

How cute is this?

'Real Housewives' Read That Mean Stuff You Say About Them (VIDEO)

real housewives of orange countyIt’s easy to forget that the women on Real Housewives are real people and not characters on a show (or so they tell us). They're talked about every day, and you’ve got to wonder, how does it affect them? Are they hurt by what people say or do they blow it off and keep on being their fabulous selves?

Well, in a new video, most likely inspired by Jimmy Kimmel's "Celebrities Read Mean Tweets," Bravo had four of The Real Housewives of Orange County stars have some fun with the mean-girl tweets they're all too familiar with. So let's see how the ladies deal with the Internet's nastiness.

Gretchen Rossi, Tamra Barney, Heather Dubrow, and Lydia McLaughlin showed off their goofy sides in the new Bravo video, which, honestly, was a breath of fresh air. As soon as I watched the clip, I was forced to remember that they are real people who feel real emotions. (However, I don't really feel bad for them. They made the choice to go on reality TV.)

Here are some of the funniest tweets from the video and how the ladies handled the pressure:

1. Gretchen Rossi

The tweet: "Gretchen forever has prom hair."

Her response: "You're damn straight, I'm always going to have prom hair and it's always going to look good, because as far as I'm concerned, I'm always the prom queen with my hair, b*tches!"

2. Tamra Barney

The tweet: "Tamra just seems like an older, meaner version of Gretchen."

Her response: "Well, f*ck you. How's that for ya?"

3. Heather Dubrow

The tweet: "Heather shouldn't wear false eyelashes. The eyelashes make her look evil."

Her response: In classic Heather fashion, she opens her eyes wide, puts on an evil face, and stares right into the camera.

4. Lydia McLaughlin

The tweet: "The new girl looks like a starving Denise Richards with a massive overbite."

Her response: "So, you think I look like Denise Richards? Awesome!"

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me ... yeah, right! These tweets are as awful as they come. These O.C. ladies are tougher than I thought they were if they can handle these verbal attacks on a daily basis.

It sure does look like the Housewives take the nasty words in stride and keep on movin’ on. I guess that’s the only way you can deal with it if you want to stay sane.

Do you think the Housewives handled the mean tweets well?
