Matt Walsh is a blogger, talk radio host, and dad to twins, and he recently had some words for a judgey non-parent about his deplorable attitude toward a young mom with a tantruming toddler in the grocery store.

Apparently, Matt was out shopping for ingredients to make chili when two things happened. One, he was recognized by a fan, and two, a mom was doing the best she could to manage her unruly toddler, who seemed to be ticked off because mom wouldn’t let him have the sugary cereal.

Matt writes:

I felt the woman’s pain ... She could bribe her kid into silence, but she was sticking to her guns. Good for her, I thought. Sure, if she’d only meet his ransom demands, my bean purchasing experience would be a bit more pleasurable, but I was rooting for her nonetheless. Not everyone felt the same way, apparently.

This is when the aforementioned fan loudly said, “Man, some people need to learn how to control their f**king kids.” Matt surmised that the guy looked about 19 or 20 and, with that kind of attitude, was obviously not a parent. It was also obvious that the mama heard the rude comment, so Matt said what any totally awesome, ballsy, knight-in-shining-dad-armor would:

Man, some people need to learn how to shut their mouths, watch their language, and mind their own business.

Parenting kids, especially little kids, is tough work, and Matt spends the rest of the post describing how not only non-parents turn into Judgey McJudgersons around young families, but how sometimes the older generation does too. He writes that parents of grown children sometimes “tend to dismiss the fact that modern parenting presents unique challenges, some of which didn’t apply several decades ago.”

And that brings us to one of my favorite lines written on the Internet this week:

I always love the older folks who lecture about how THEIR kids weren’t as 'attached to electronics' as kids are nowadays. That’s probably true, but mainly because, well, YOU DIDN’T HAVE ELECTRONICS. You had a toaster and a black and white TV with 2 channels, both of which were pretty easy to regulate. But, sure, congratulations for not letting your kids use things that didn’t exist. On that note, I have a strict 'no time machines or hover-boards' policy in my home. It is stringently enforced. I’m thinking of writing a parenting book: 'How to Stop Your Child From Becoming Dependent Upon Technology That Isn’t Invented Yet.'

Thank you Matt Walsh, from the bottom of this mama’s heart. If I could reach through the computer and give you a hug, I would.

Has your attitude on unruly toddlers changed since you became a parent?

Viral 'Worst Twerk Fail EVER' Video Revealed to Be Epic Prank! Guess Who’s Behind It?

Worst twerk failWe've discussed how whatever Miley Cyrus was doing at the VMAs wasn't really twerking, right? Or maybe we were all too distracted by her cow tongue antics to notice whether or not her booty had any pop. Anyway, regardless of her technical proficiency, it's clear that Miley's performance has encouraged all sorts of people to give the dance craze a try, including a girl named Caitlin, whose YouTube video went viral under this title "Worst twerk fail EVER: girl catches fire!"

That's exactly what happens in the video: she does a handstand against a door, twerks her butt, and then someone opens the door -- which causes her to crash into a nearby table that's covered in candles. The video ends as she shrieks in horror, her pantleg engulfed in flames.

The whole thing is both disturbing and deeply hilarious, and it racked up over 9 million views in less than a week. Now for the good news/bad news: the Twerk Fail Girl is TOTALLY FINE … because the video is a diabolically clever fake.

Here's the original video, which was posted by "Caitlin Heller" on September 3rd:

Caitlin included the following explanation:

I tried making a sexy twerk video for my boyfriend and things got a little too hot :)

WOW! Didn't expect all this attention. I'm fine. Just a little embarrassed!! THX!!

The clip instantly went viral, with some very serious media coverage musing that "It is unclear how badly the girl was injured or who she is," and my favorite, from the NY Daily News, "Twerking is the hot new fad, but for one girl it only left her burned."

As it turns out, the prankster behind the video is none other than Jimmy Kimmel. He revealed the hoax during his show on Monday night, confessing that "Caitlin" is actually a stunt woman named Daphne. Kimmel showed an "extended" version of the clip that includes him appearing (clad in a pink shirt and yoga pants) with a fire extinguisher at the end. Check it out:

I've got to hand it to Kimmel -- that was a masterful troll job. Golf claps for him, but I do think it's a little tragic that we're learning to become suspicious of magical moments supposedly caught on film. Twerking Girl on Fire now joins Golden Eagle Trying to Snatch Toddler in the category of BIG FAT DISAPPOINTING HOAXES. Not that I want people to get burned or eaten by birds of prey, but … oh, you know what I mean.

Did you see this twerk fail video before Jimmy Kimmel confessed it was a prank? Did you think it was real?

man and raccoonIf wanting Marc "Coon Rippy" Brown to keep his pet raccoon is wrong, I don't want to be right. I'm sorry, I know it's illegal to keep wild animals. It's dangerous and can be bad for them. But have you seen this guy?

Let me back up a bit. The self-professed hillbilly from Gallatin, Tennessee, recently took the Internet by storm when a video of him dancing with his pet raccoon, Gunshow, to Aretha Franklin's "Chain of Fools" went viral. There he is in his overalls, jamming out and dancing with abandon while his raccoon dances with him ... sort of. He followed that up with a video of him showering with another pet raccoon, Rebekah. They're both all sorts of weird and wonderful.

Only not everyone agrees about the wonderful part.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency got wind of his unusual pets and stepped in to enforce the law. While Gunshow has since passed away, they confiscated Rebekah. They say it's illegal to keep wild animals as pets and took her to a wildlife rehabilitation center.

Now poor Brown is left coonless, and he wants his pet back. He's appealing to the governor and has taken to the media to try and get his story out there. He says that while he did break the law, plenty of people do so all the time, and just because he posted a cool video, he shouldn't be punished. In an interview with Vice, he said:

My argument with them was that if this is the case, then every elementary school and biology class in high school and college is in violation if they've got tadpoles in an aquarium or a garter snake, or even if a child brings a box turtle to show-and-tell.

But when you have a raccoon on your shoulder in the shower and you make a viral video, if you've already had one viral video under your belt, it kind of draws a little attention to yourself.

As a former animal control officer himself, he says that not everyone should have a pet raccoon. He says you have to have some experience and know what you're doing.

You can't just raise it if you haven't a clue what to do. And I happen to know. It's just one of my areas of expertise. Some people are experts in electricity. Some people are experts at working on automobiles. Some people are experts at heart surgery. I happen to be an expert at whispering to 'coons, I guess.

So no, he's not setting the best example, but if ever there was an exception to be made to this law, this has got to be it. Here he is making his plea to get Rebekah back. See if you don't agree.

Do you think he should get Rebekah back?

Sam Horowitz's Bar Mitzvah Dance Goes Viral Because It's That Insanely Awesome (VIDEO)

Sam HorowitzHave no clue who Sam Horowitz is? I didn't either. I kept seeing people posting his bar mitzvah dance on Twitter and Facebook, and I kept ignoring them. I mean, really, how awesome can a bar mitzvah dance be? Turns out -- pretty damn awesome.

It's insane. It makes you want to dance. It's over-the-top, and all sorts of crazy to think this is happening at a religious celebration. There are burlesque-style show girls and a glittery object that descends from the sky, appearing to carry Sam, a 13-year-old from Dallas, down to the stage. And ultimately, there's Sam, bogeying to Jennifer Lopez's "Dance Again" like he's been doing a Vegas act for years. You have to see it to believe it.

Wow, right? It all went down last November, and it's hard to believe it took this long to hit the internet. But hit it, it has. People are mad for Sam ... or mad at his parents for letting this happen -- opinions are split.

As I watched the first minute or so, I was all sorts of indignant about parents going overboard on these sorts of celebrations. Did you see his name in those huge neon lights? These elaborate events for religious ceremonies, Sweet 16 parties, Quinceaneras, and the like, are so outlandish that it's going to be tough for these children's weddings to compete. It's overindulgent, excessive, and we may be creating little narcissists ... but then I saw Sam, and all my indignation went right out the window.

How can you not love this kid shaking his hips with abandon, like he's the happiest kid in the world. If you had the means to give your kid an opportunity to shine like that, wouldn't you? Mazel, Sam.

What do you think of this dance?
