Love Teen Mom or hate Teen Mom, the reality series often shows the darker side of parenting teenagers. Teenage girls get pregnant. Teenage girls get the crap beaten out of them by their boyfriends. Look at Teen Mom 3 star Katie Yeager. New details about boyfriend Joey Maes have come out, alleging that the mercurial father of her little girl has gotten so violent at times that he once broke her nose.

Got that? A teenage girl had her nose broken by her boyfriend. That happened (or at least it's alleged that it happened) in real life.

This is not the puppy love, aww, so sweet, story that comes to mind when we think "teen relationship."

MTV cameras didn't catch that fight, or several others being reported by Radar, but they have shown some scary moments between the two young parents on Teen Mom 3 this season. Two weeks ago, the show ended with Joey tearing the couple's apartment apart while Katie cowered on the couch.

As a mother, it was hard to watch.

Teenage domestic violence is not "just a Teen Mom thing." This is not just something that happens to girls who end up pregnant in high school (to that point there isn't any one type of girl who ends up in pregnant in high school ... sorry, but teen pregnancy knows no socio-economic boundaries).

Katie could be my daughter.

She's smart. She's driven. She's in love with a guy who isn't very nice to her.

It's a nightmare. You wouldn't wish it on your worst enemy's daughter.

And yet, it's a nightmare parents often don't address until it's too late.

Katie's mom supposedly called the cops on Joey when he got violent, but weren't there signs before that this guy was no good?

I have noticed that parents don't put much stock in teenage relationships. There's an assumption that kids fall in and out of love quickly, and that problems will simply resolve themselves because, hey, they're young; they won't be together forever.

But what we're seeing on Teen Mom right now is that it can be much more complicated than that. Domestic violence isn't just an adult problem. It happens with teenagers too. In fact, the CDC reports 9.4 percent of high school students report being hit, slapped, or physically hurt on purpose by their boyfriend or girlfriend.

It's not epidemic by any means, but that's 9.4 percent too many.

And what are parents to do?

Good for Katie's mom for trying to do something.

Was it enough?

It's hard to say from the outside. I do know I feel for her.

One of the problems with the lack of awareness that this is a true issue for teenagers is that there aren't a heckuva lot of resources out there for parents of teens in abusive relationships. These tips, from the California Attorney General's Office, sound like common sense, but it can't hurt to study them if you're afraid your child is in Katie's shoes:

• Recognize and confront the abusive behavior. Be sure to have specific examples.

• Let him/her know what is not acceptable. While being supportive of your teen as a person and his/her efforts to overcome the abusive behavior, you may have to make the difficult decision to report your teen’s violence to law enforcement.

• Be a role model for supportive, healthy relationships with your own partner.

El último rumor de Dancing With the Stars temporada 17 es OH tan emocionante. La belleza de este rumor de fundición es que la iglesia de la Cienciología (y Tom Cruise) van a ser muy, muy enojado.

Ya sabemos que Snooki se rumorea que se unirá al reparto y que John Stamos también pueden hacer acto de presencia (por favor). En unos pocos días en realidad sabemos todo, pero por ahora, debemos contentarnos con especulaciones y rumores. Esta es una pasada.

Dancing With the Stars es famosa por de estrellas que están teniendo un momento. Si es controversia (como Bristol Palin o Kate Gosselin) o la fama sólo por el amor de la fama (la situación), normalmente anotan algunos famosos que traerán un poco algo extra en cuanto a la controversia. Esto sería muy cierto de esta persona.

En la calle tiene que Leah Remini está siendo considerada. Eso sería la estrella rey de Queens que actualmente está encerrada en una batalla épica con la iglesia de la Cienciología después plantean interrogantes acerca de la desaparición de la esposa del líder de la iglesia David MiscavigeShelly.

¿Quién sabe lo que traerá a la pista de baile, pero su honestidad franca y completa falta de filtro cuando se trata de la iglesia que cuenta Kirstie Alley (un ex DWTS favorito) y Tom Cruise entre sus numerosos miembros va a ser interesante. Seré curioso ver cómo el espectáculo maneja. Si manejan. Hacen tictac de la iglesia no parece un acierto.

Ella podría estar emparejada con apenas alrededor de cualquier profesional, pero en realidad veo su va bastante lejos. Ella tiene ese aspecto físico que te hace pensar que sería un buen bailarín. Y ¿adivina qué? Cuanto más lejos se va, el drama más vamos a ver. ¡ Tráelo temporada 17!

Estamos más cerca de cerca el anuncio de la oficial line Dancing With the Stars fundido para caer 2013 y los rumores apuntan a la rampantes. Uno de los más ruidosos. Que una estrella Teen Mom cruzará sobre de MTV a menear sus caderas en ABC.

Cuando remueva el habló a Maci librode recientemente de Su TV especial siendo Maci, tomó la oportunidad para explicar por qué está listo para el show!

Primero... la mala noticia. Según Maci, ella no hizo el corte... nadie aún ha llegado! Pero eso no quiere decir que no estaría preparado para eso. Según la madre adolescente:

Nunca he hablado con nadie sobre haciendo Dancing With the Stars. Me encantaría; Creo que sería una gran experiencia.

Y ya está preparada. Maci dijo:

Ahora mismo estoy ensayando durante los últimos tres meses para un evento de caridad en Chattanooga es muy muy similar a bailando con las estrellas pero en realidad no es televisado. Es el centro de un evento en vivo y es para la Fundación del riñón de Chattanooga mayor.

Básicamente sólo toman personas que son muy conocidos en nuestra comunidad, en cuanto a noticias o radio DJs o personas que simplemente son muy bien conocidos por aquí... y ellos nos emparejar con una bailarina profesional y luego hacemos dos danzas la noche del evento. Todas las ganancias van a la Fundación del riñón.

Es uno de los mayores eventos de caridad que sostiene nuestro pueblo, y es bastante serio.

'50 Shades of Grey' Casting Is Almost Finished: Could These Stars Be Our Christian and Ana? (PHOTOS)

If you were to tweet at E.L. James today asking about Fifty Shades of Grey movie casting news, you'd probably still receive a snarky response about how they're still far off from making any sort of "final decision." And I'm sure that is probably still true. However, the latest buzz from a believable source leads us to believe that they're VERY close. So close in fact that we may have our Christian and Ana soon after Labor Day!

According to entertainment biz site TheWrap.com, casting is expected to wrap up within the next month, because filming needs to begin this fall. That's BIG -- huge! That means we're so close! And while they note that numerous people for both lead roles are under consideration, two names are floating around as very likely contenders: Dakota Johnson as Ana and Charlie Hunnam as Christian.   

You may remember Dakota as the cute co-ed who wakes up next to Justin Timberlake's Sean Parker in The Social Network. She also starred in the 21 Jump Street flick, The Five-Year Engagement, and the short-lived sitcom Ben and Kate. You may also know her as Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson's daughter!

As for Charlie ... well, he seems to have come out of the blue! The British actor starred as Jackson Teller in the FX series Sons of Anarchy and as Raleigh Becket in the film Pacific Rim. He's very Brad Pitt/Chris Hemsworth-ish. See?

Very BLONDE ... As is Dakota, usually, which isn't going to fly at least in the case of Ana, who is definitely brunette. But she's clearly dyed her hair for roles before (see above), and I'm sure Charlie would too.

Looks aside, I'm not sure if I see these two as our Ana and Christian ... But it's also hard to say, because they're both relatively "new," fresh, which is exactly what the casting directors want, it seems. In fact, TheWrap.com notes that Dakota fits the description the Fifty Shades folks have been looking for: 23, not quite a movie star (yet), acting credibility, and a rising feature career. But surely, she's not the only one up for the part and for whom those attributes apply. Still, it sounds like we won't have to wonder for much longer who will ultimately land the roles!

'Teen Mom' Star's Breastfeeding Experience Brings Her to Tears

Teen Mom may be a show aimed at scaring teenagers away from parenthood, but the show has been attracting older moms to MTV pretty much from the beginning. And if you're a mom who ascribes to natural parenting methods, you're going to love Teen Mom 3, especially star Katie Yeager.

Katie is a natural birthing, extended breastfeeding mama! And she sat down with The Stir this week to talk about breastfeeding on TV, donating her breast milk, and why sometimes breastfeeding would move her to tears!

On breastfeeding her now almost 2-year-old daughter:

I went 16 months breastfeeding Molli. Sometimes I wish I could still breastfeed her! It's one thing that I've always said: at least try. I sometimes would cry because I was so happy. That's one thing that I gave my daughter.

It felt so good whenever anyone said congratulations on your breastfeeding success; I know a lot of moms have trouble with it.

On donating milk:

I donated milk for eight months, I think, to Primary Children's [Medical Center], which is out of Salt Lake City. I would pump and send it out because I was in Wyoming still. I was grateful to be able to do that, and once Molli weaned, up until I lost my supply, I donated there.

I'm very proud that I was able to share that bond with my child.

On why she chose to breastfeed:

I was researching it when I was pregnant. I did the natural birth too, and I felt like this was the next step. I felt like I wanted to at least try it and I wanted to get that colostrum out, make sure she gets those benefits. And, definitely, I was hooked!

After I got through the first month, which was like the worst ever, I would cry and cry and cry -- and once I got over that rough patch, I was like, I love this. I want to breastfeed forever!

I tell everyone, if you're not happy, if your baby can tell that this is pain for you and you're crying and you're upset about it, then don't feel bad! It just was something that worked for me and that I loved, and if I were to have another baby, I'd definitely not get the epidural and definitely breastfeed because that's just what I know. 

I don't know how to make a bottle. I don't know how to mix formula. I would be lost! I'd be crying because I don't know how to make formula!

It's just something that I felt was the best for me, and anytime I meet another woman that is in the same situation, I geek out and bond with them, of course, just like any mother does.

On being able to share her breastfeeding with the whole world on MTV:

I'm proud of being able to do it at such a young age, and it's definitely something ... if somebody needs help, I'll be the first one to say it'll be okay, you can make it through it, this is what I did, this is how you can do it if you really want it.

I'm definitely a big breastfeeding supporter.

Katie isn't the only mom from the show to breastfeed -- Kailyn Lowry from Teen Mom 2 has spoken in the past about her own breastfeeding, and both Briana DeJesus and Alex Sekella told The Stir they did as well (albeit not for 16 months) -- but she is definitely the first to do so extensively on camera. The Stir got a sneak peek at the first episode of Teen Mom 3, and Katie is often seen with a blanket over her as little Molli eats.

'Teen Mom' Star's New Baby Name Is Earning Him a Whole Lot of Hate

Chelsea Houska is a fan favorite on MTV's Teen Mom while her baby daddy Adam Lind is ... not. In fact, he is probably one of the more hated dads given how he treated Chelsea after their daughter Aubree was born. But now he is having a new baby with his girlfriend Taylor, and the two of them have revealed that they plan to name her Paislee. Cue the Internet crap storm.

It seems most of the judgment around the name comes from the use of the double E as it's similar to Aubree's name. But hey, maybe it's a compliment. Could be, right? They are sisters. Maybe Adam is trying to make sure the two names go together.

There is also some judgement just about the name itself. It makes perfect sense why so many new parents keep the names quiet. People are SO judgmental about names. It's kind of awful.

According to family legend, when I was born, my grandmother told my mother my name sounded like a "goddamn DP" ("displaced person" after World War II). My aunt also had some snarky things to say about my daughter's name soon after I had her (despite the fact that she named her kids the most bland, boring, trendy American names you can think of). So yeah. There is a lot of name judgment.

Hell, even the Duchess of Cambridge is not immune. I heard a lot of grumbling last week over Kate's name choice (George). "It's boring!"; "It sounds like an old man." Here's an idea: Shut up!

I mean, really. Choosing a name for your child is a big, big deal. It's a big responsibility and a lot of work. As an expectant mom myself, I feel that pressure and basically never want to reveal the name we are thinking even though it's TOTALLY AWESOME and I LOVE IT.

Most of the time, names end up suiting people. And while it's true that what we name our kids does reveal a lot about our past and our upbringing (for instance, Kate wasn't going to name her baby Jayden), it's still up to each parent to choose their own name. So judgy people, shut your traps.

Stars Are Already Copying Kourtney Kardashian's Baby Name

Aww! My Girl star Anna Chlumsky is a mom! The 32-year-old actress welcomed a baby girl today, her rep confirmed to Us Weekly.

This is baby number one for Anna and her husband, Shaun So. When it comes to what they decided to call their little girl, well -- I think you'll agree her name sounds pretty familiar.

Or at least it will certainly ring a bell if you happen to be a Kourtney Kardashian fan.

Yep, they called her Penelope Joan So -- so now it looks as though Anna has way more in common with the K-Dash crew than she ever dreamed.

But then again, maybe she has no clue who the Kardashians are. During her pregnancy, Anna indicated that she and her husband had a few names in mind and said, "We like things to be original so you're not confusing your kid for some other person."

Hmm. I doubt anyone will ever confuse her Penelope with Kourtney's -- but considering Kourt gave her baby the moniker a year ago, Penelope Scotland Disick will probably be the first baby that comes to mind as far as associating the name with the celebrity kid crowd goes. And if Anna followed them at all, she probably would've chosen something different -- because everyone is automatically going to assume she "stole" it from Kourt. (Ugh.)

Those Kardashians. They're such a bunch of trend setters. Even when it comes to baby names. (Though I highly doubt Kim has to worry about anyone copying North's name. Just sayin'.)

But even if it's not the most unique name anymore, Penelope is still pretty darn adorable, and there's certainly room for more than one little girl with that name, right?

Congrats to Anna and her husband -- and hopefully she won't waste any time in sharing a photo of their newest addition!

Jane Lynch, Dianna Agron and 'Glee' Stars Share Heartache Over Cory Monteith's Sudden Death (VIDEO)

It's been five days now since Glee star Cory Monteith was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room, and the pain for many lives on. Now that the cause of Cory's death, mixed drug toxicity involving heroin and alcohol, has been confirmed and Cory's body was cremated Tuesday -- everyone is doing the best they can to handle the grief and move forward, including his Glee castmates.

Reactions from some of Cory's co-stars are slowly coming out in the media. Saddening photos were released yesterday of Dianna Agron, Jane Lynch, and Jenna Ushkowitz meeting for lunch and sharing an embrace. Twitter is flooded with love from Cory's McKinley classmates. Lynch went on The Tonight Show last night and shared some touching words about a beautiful man.

Jane Lynch had nothing but beautiful things to say about Cory last night on her Tonight Show appearance. Her words were bone chilling, saying that Cory was someone with "one of the biggest hearts" who "knew he was breathing rarefied air." Watch her touching interview, here:

Dianna Agron commented to The Hollywood Reporter about how hard the news was for her to hear, saying she "never lost a friend" before.

In this difficult time, I am leaning on all of the wonderful memories we shared with Cory, how many ways he was able to make us smile ... Cory is so deserving of that place in everyone's hearts. He was one of the most generous and kind people that I have ever met. He had a smart, curious mind, he was an enormous talent. He was loving to not only me but my family.

I have chills. So many chills. I had the pleasure of meeting Dianna when Glee was shooting here in New York City a few years back, and she has such a kind heart. As someone who has lost a close friend in my life, I can identify with her. It's never easy, whether it's the first time death has stuck close to home or the tenth.

Matthew Morrison, who plays teacher Will Schuester on Glee, paid tribute to Cory at a concert this past Sunday, singing "What I Did for Love" from A Chorus Line. Morrison told the crowd at Manhattan's 55 Below that Monteith was a "beautiful person" that left this world too soon. Watch clips of his performance, here:

And then there's Lauren Potter, who plays Becky Jackson. Potter tweeted this fantastic picture of her and her costar along with the messages, "Cory was always so nice to me. I have so many good memories," and "I am totally heartbroken right now. I love Cory so much this hurts my heart."

Our thoughts and prayers are with Cory Monteith's friends, family, and castmates.
