It was supposed to be Justin Timberlake's show but it ended up being all about Miley Cyrus. Because her performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards was so, um, out there? From the dancing bears, to Miley's embarrassing twerking, her butt hanging out of her plastic pants and looking saggier than a wet hen, and her tongue hanging out of her mouth, looking longer and pointier than Gene Simmons in his prime, Miley stole the show -- and not necessarily in a good way. I can only imagine Robin Thicke was thinking, "How? Why? What? Where am I?"

Watching the performance, it's sort of hard to know why Miley's a star. Pretty much every 6-year-old in the country dances around their room in the way that Miley parades around a stage. She sings about as well as most of the kids I know too. Here's Miley doing her thang. Whaddya think?

There were were some good performances tonight, starting with Justin Timberlake, who took over the entire middle of the show with a medley of his greatest hits. Halfway through, the other four members of his former band, 'N Sync, joined him on stage. They were basically relegated to back-up dancers, but hey, would they have gotten into the VMAs otherwise?

Justin seemed to have his own number one fan in the audience in the form of Taylor Swift, who had the misfortune (or good fortune?) of being smack dab in front of a camera -- which made for lots of close-ups of Taylor gyrating and singing to the JTathon. Taylor didn't even perform, but she managed to steal the show anyway with her speech after she accepted a Moonman for Best Female Video for "I Knew You Were Trouble."

Still apparently not quite over her fling with Harry Styles, Taylor snapped, "I want to thank the person who inspired this song, he knows exactly who he is." The camera then panned predictably to Harry, who looked bemused. (Hey, Taylor did wonders for this kid's profile.)

The cameras also seemed to catch her mouthing, "Shut the f**k up," as Harry's band One Direction presented. Cue the GIFs we'll see for eternity. Here's one:

Wouldn't you love to be at the VMA after party at a table with Taylor and Selena Gomez? You just know those girls love to bitch.

Nah, me neither.

Hey, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles Doesn’t Think You’re Finished With Him Yet

Of the long list of ex-boyfriends Taylor Swift has written songs about, one very important ex seems to be missing. Although rumor had it Taylor had written "I Knew You Were Trouble" about One Direction's Harry Styles, she actually wrote the song before hooking up with -- and being dumped by -- Hairy Harry. So the man (boy?) needs a song. Why should that smarmy pretty boy John Mayer get a song and not Harry?!! And we're not the only ones who think that Harry needs a Taylor Swift song. He thinks so too!

The One Directioner told US Weekly:

It would be hypocritical for me to say she couldn't do it because everybody writes songs based on personal experience. I can't say I'd have dated someone less famous to avoid it. At least she's a great songwriter!

Sounds like he's just waiting with bated breath for his damn song, amiright? You can't blame him. All these other dudes get songs. He needs his own stinkin' breakup song! And then for Taylor to sing it to him at the VMAs! This is what the world needs NOW!

I kind of wonder what a Harry ditty would sound like. Maybe sumpthin' like:

I remember making out

In Times Square

On New Year's Eve

With your hair ...

It was cold

But you kept me warm

In Times Square

You were so horn (y)

Well, okay, I didn't say I was a songwriter! But if she said all that, we'd totally know who it was about, right? And then Harry would be happy. And all would be well.

Taylor Swift 'Hates' Justin Bieber and it's Ruining Her Friendship With Selena Gomez

I don't think any of us were under the auspice that Taylor Swift liked Justin Bieber. The two were friends at one point, but back in May at the Billboard Music Awards, Swift couldn't have made her disdain for Biebs any more obvious. First, she was caught sticking her tongue out in disgust when he and Selena Gomez made out backstage, and then, when the press asked her a question about him, she replied with: "Can we have another question?"

But hate? Hate's a pretty strong word. You have to really dislike someone to say that you hate them. But when you hear things from Taylor's side, it's kind of hard to blame her for hating Justin Bieber.

However, the most surprising thing to come out of all this, is the fact that, apparently, the feeling's mutual.

A source told Us Weekly that Bieber basically has broken up Taylor and Selena's friendship. They said: "Taylor hates him. She thinks Selena makes a mistake every time she reconciles with him. Bieber has really come between the girls." Eek. Not cool. But on the flip side, an insider from Bieber's camp told the mag: "He complains Taylor's always telling Selena she can do better." Sooo, basically the two can't stand each other and Selena's in the middle. Sounds like a great time for her.

Even though Taylor tweeted a message about Selena being the closest thing she ever had to a sister a few days before the "Come and Get It" singer's birthday, Swift was glaringly absent from Gomez's birthday bash in Malibu. Justin, however, was not.

Personally, I'm on Team Taylor with this one. I mean, does anyone not think Selena can do better than Justin Bieber, what with his gas-masks, boob-grabbing, spitting, and naked seranades to his grandma? The guy's turned into a real yahoo, I tell ya. And definitely not like someone any girl would want to be in a relationship with.

It'd be a shame if Taylor and Selena's friendship was ruined over Justin, because at the end of the day, anyone who wears a gas mask "just 'cause" isn't worth fighting over. My grandma told me that when I was a girl, and I've heeded the advice ever since.

Taylor Swift 'Biggest Fan' Contest Cancelled When 'Creepy' 39-Year-Old Man Wins

Taylor Swift has fans of all ages, from the tiniest of tots (I took my 4-year-old daughter to her concert) to moms like me. But when a 39-year-old man won her recent "Biggest Fan" contest in what appears to be a big online prank, organizers said no way was he getting the grand prize -- a chance to meet her -- and the whole thing was cancelled.

No, it's not because she's an ageist (remember she did date John Mayer who's 35), but because the 39-year-old winner sounds like a big fat loser. The contest was run by Boston radio station KISS FM. Fans were asked to enter to win, and then online voting would determine the winner. Sounds fair, but "Charles" (the 39-year-old winner) didn't play fair.

Instead he and others made a mockery of the whole contest, posting on various websites with a mean scheme to boost him to number one. For example on 4chan, users were asked to vote for the "fat old guy creep" to "crush the dreams of these girls and give him a chance to make a complete ass of himself by blatantly just sniffing her hair with cameras rolling."

Because there are so many vile and cruel people in the world with nothing better to do, users voted Charles to the top. But Charles will not be meeting Taylor. Nor will any of her other fans in that contest. The radio station offered the following explanation:

Disappointingly, we have determined that the integrity of the "Taylor Swift's Biggest Fan" contest has been compromised. In accordance with our contest rules, effective immediately, the contest has been terminated. We apologize to all of our loyal listeners who have participated.

What a way to spoil it for everyone, Charles. And for what, a few chuckles? I don't blame the station at all for cancelling, but I do feel bad for her true fans who really would have loved this opportunity to meet Taylor.
