Scarlett Johansson's Relationship With Fiance Sounds Far From Perfect

scarlett johansson romain dauriacGoing from Ryan Reynolds's wife to divorced to engaged to boyfriend Romain Dauriac over the course of the last five years, Scarlett Johansson may feel like she's been on a romance roller coaster. But she seems to have come off of the ride stronger than ever. The actress, who stars in the new flick Don Jon with Joseph Gordon-Levitt about a porn addict who dates a woman obsessed with romance films, opened up to E! recently about what she's learned about conflict in love ...

She admitted, "We all are guilty of holding our partner or our imaginary partner up to these standards that are sort of impossible to fulfill. It would be much easier if the people we fell in love with behaved the way we wanted them to!"

'Course that's raaarely the case! Ha. So how has she made peace with that?

ScarJo confessed:

I've learned over time that what makes life interesting, relationships interesting, are the complexities of relationships and people and the fact that we can become more evolved ourselves if we are forced to compromise and accept the differences amongst one another.

She is so, so right! Whether it's from movies or even conversations with our girlfriends, we're so brainwashed into thinking that life and relationships have the ability to be "perfect" and predictable, and a solid relationship means being in harmonious sync with your partner 24/7/365. Puhhleeez! The faster we learn that's BS, the better -- and the faster we embrace the rough patches that come with the territory of living alongside another human being, the happier we'll be overall!

I agree also that being able to work through your differences is a boon for us as individuals. Being in a healthfully complex relationship totally lends itself to helping you evolve, mature, have an even more enlightened perspective, etc.

Case in point: ScarJo! She sounds more sophisticated, grown-up, healthier, and happier than ever. Which I would think makes it safe to assume her relationship with her future husband Romain isn't necessarily always easy ... but sure is rewarding.

Do you agree with Scarlett that accepting the differences you have with your partner is better for your relationship -- and for you?

'Exercise Pill' Sounds WAY Too Good to Be True

pillsExercise takes effort, period. In most cases, getting outside for a late afternoon jog is much, much less appealing than sitting out barbecuing with your girlfriends. So what if I were to tell you that there may soon be a new pill that promises the benefits of exercise, sans effort. Sounds too good to be true, right? I know! Two new studies reveal that an "exercise pill" may not be too far off.

In one study, mice were treated with a synthetic drug that not only burned calories, but also aided in weight loss, despite the fact that they were moving around less and eating the same as always. In a separate study, mice injected with the drug showed increased endurance. In short: this drug that they're testing may have the capability to make you feel like Superman and lose weight without getting up off the couch.

But like I said, it sounds too good to be true ... because it is.

The first thing I'll say is that there are already plenty of supplements on the market that aid in weight loss and help boost endurance. That, well, that's nothing new. The problem with this potential "exercise pill," just like those supplements, is that it can't give you the toning or heart healthy benefits of real exercise. While users may be able to slim down, you won't necessarily develop great muscle tone.

Not to mention, real exercise boosts your endorphins, which put you in an overall better mood. Yeah, sneaking in a sweat session can be a bit of a hassle, but afterward I'm almost always in a better mood. I'm pretty sure no pill can substitute for that feeling of accomplishment. At the end of the day, I'm much more into the real deal than this potential little pill, no matter how much of a bother it can be. Hey, that's just me.

Would you take an "exercise pill" in place of the real thing?

Kim Kardashian’s 1,200-Calorie Diet Sounds Too Extreme for a Breastfeeding Mom

kim kardashianFifty pounds. That's how much weight Kim Kardashian reportedly gained during her pregnancy with North. Fifty pounds -- at least. Some are saying as much as 65. And now the pressure is on to lose it all in celebrity-rapid speed. Think breastfeeding is going to do it alone? Yes, actually, I do. Hell no! We hear Kim's on a 1,200-calorie diet to lose that baby fat. She's slurping down veggie juices concocted by her new personal chef. It sounds amaaaahzing...ly torturous.

It's like Kim has to be punished for gaining all that weight. Enjoyed all that frozen yogurt, did we Ms. Kardashian? Well now it's time to pay! Mwa ha ha ha ha! So this is what Kim is supposedly doing to lose the baby weight.

A source tells Star magazine:

She has a chef making her fresh green juices of kale, celery, spinach, collard greens, and cilantro. They make up 80 percent of her diet, and the other 20 percent consists of low-fat chicken and a light salad or steamed veggies.

And when she's not choking down juices and steamed chicken, she's breastfeeding like crazy:

She kept hearing that she would lose a lot of weight if she did breast-feed. That’s why she’s forcing herself to do it.

Wait a minute, what's with this "forcing" business? I thought she LOVED breastfeeding. I thought it was so natural for her. So basically what this source is saying is that Kim is living in a 24/7 hellscape of lactation and hunger. And let us not forget that she's probably also working out, too. That sounds like a lot of fun for everyone. What do they do, leave her alone in a padded cell? Because I would not want to live under the same roof with this starving new mom.

Supposedly you burn an extra 500 calories a day from breastfeeding. You know what that means? You are HUNGRY like never before. I didn't eat that much more while I was pregnant. But after? Man, I was hungry. I had my chocolate cake with Oprah ritual every afternoon. I ate chocolate-covered almonds all day long. I still remember the moment about a month after the baby when I was standing in my kitchen around midnight, eating New York Super Chunk Fudge directly out of the carton, when a light bulb went over my head: I should probably stop eating ice cream every day if I really want to lose that baby weight.

Okay, so it took me a whole nine months to lose the 30 pounds I gained during pregnancy. That's how long it's supposed to take. At least I was still pleasant and civil because I wasn't starving. Basically my weight-loss plan was to eat healthy foods, stop eating ice cream and chocolate cake every day, and breastfeed. It worked, but slowly.

Bonus: I kept breastfeeding after I lost the baby weight and got even skinnier. But that doesn't work for everyone. Some women can't shed those last five pounds until they stop breastfeeding.

Anyway ... Kim's gonna do what Kim's gonna do. I just hope that in the midst of this juice torture, she also changes her tastes and palate a little bit, so by the time she's finished with the diet, she finds herself craving fresh fruit and veggies more, and French fries less. Because that's what's going to keep her a healthy mama for life.

What do you think about Kim's rumored extreme diet?

Cory Monteith’s Last Film Role Sounds Sadly Like His Life (VIDEO)

Cory MonteithCory Monteith will forever be known as clean cut musical jock Finn Hudson from Glee, but he had another side to him. Unfortunately, that other side cut his life too short. But it might also prove he could be a profound actor. Before he died, Cory filmed a role as a street hustler addict in a film called McCanick. Judging by what the director says, it wasn't Finn but the street hustler that Cory felt born to play. Director Josh Waller told US Weekly:

He was pretty open about his past ... he said that he'd never really been able to tap into his own personal history ... and I think he saw the character as a bit of a -- you know, here's that chance.

In fact, Cory inhabited the character so thoroughly that you wouldn't recognize him unless you knew it was him. Could this last role have grabbed hold of his psyche to the extreme, much in the way many blamed Heath Ledger's role as Joker for his untimely death?

Some actors can really take method acting to the extreme, and perhaps Cory felt that the role justified continued drug usage. After all, how could he convincingly portray an addict and get people to see him as something other than a singing, dancing high school kid, unless he truly lived that part -- had that part in his bones, in his eyes?

Waller was initially hesitant to cast Cory, but Cory practically begged for the role. Waller told Perez Hilton:

In my mind, I was envisioning a teeny little drug guy [for the role], but Cory Monteith is this tall, strapping man. But when I met with him, he wanted to do it so badly. He was very vocal about his past, and said he wanted to tap into things from his youth that he hadn’t been able to use as an actor yet. He didn't say it was a cathartic experience, but you could sense it.

Not every actor has to live their roles -- I doubt Meryl Streep does -- however, many do. They become that character. Not that the role would have made Cory start using drugs, he obviously had a long history with that, but it could have given him just the excuse he needed not to buckle down on sobriety the way he should have.

And once you've got that excuse, it can be damn near impossible to pull back.

It will be interesting how the movie does and if Cory is remembered for it. It will certainly be difficult for anyone who loved him to watch it. Here's a clip from the film. Will you go see it?
