Rapist Who Killed Mom and Daughters Says Prison Isn't Treating Him Right

The man sentenced to death for raping and killing a mother and her two daughters in a horrific home invasion and arson in Connecticut has already done the unfathomable -- so I guess it's no real surprise that he would take his sociopathic personality to even higher heights. Triple-murderer Steven Hayes is now suing his prison for "harassment and psychological torture." Oh man, dude, seriously? WTF? Yes, Steven Hayes, who robbed, then raped and strangled mom Jennifer Hawke-Petit, and then burned her two young daughters alive in a house fire (all while Dr. William Petit was tied up in the basement), feels that he's being denied his "basic human needs" while he's on death row.

In his first interview, Hayes told the New Haven Register:

Nobody’s supposed to be treated the way we’re treated here. I was sentenced to death, not psychological torment.

Oh, boo hoo. I don't think too many people would feel sorry for this sad excuse for a human being.

Hayes also opened up about why he committed such a heinous crime, saying, basically, that he "doesn't know." He said:

I just wanted money. That’s all I was looking for ... But that’s when Josh [his partner in the crime] told me about him and the girl [11-year-old Michaela, who was raped] ... I started to lose it. Then I looked out the window and saw an unmarked police car. And I just snapped.

Hayes, though he sounds remorseful, is still casting blame. He blames his crime partner and fellow death row member Josh Komisarjevsky for escalating things. He blames him for starting the fire. Asked about allegations by his younger brothers that he abused them as children, he says they've got it all wrong. He even casts some blame on his father, for leaving him when he was a child.

He also pats himself on the back for "being nice" to the Petits while he held them hostage for seven hours, and insists it was only in the last "couple of minutes," when they were being raped and murdered, that things got ugly.

And now he's suing because he should be treated better.

But he also said:

I don’t deserve to live. I don’t want to live.

He should have stopped talking right there. Hayes is suing for $500,000. Something tells me it'll be a subzero day in hell before he gets that money.

'Real Housewives of New Jersey' Recap: Joe Giudice Admits He's Terrified To Go to Prison

The healing continued on tonight's episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. The Arizona dessert has done them all good, and they seem destined to go back to Jersey at least a little less dysfunctional than they came.

First up was horse whisperer/psychic Wyatt Webb. The cowboy with insight as deep as his drawl was a master at picking up on the issues each of them faced. Now, seeing as how their whole lives have played out on TV for years, he could have just done some serious RHONJ marathons to come to his conclusions, but he didn't seem the type. Regardless of his technique though, he did somehow draw out some deep emotions from the gang.

Rosie Pierri admitted that she often feels like she's not good enough because she isn't married with children. Al Manzo admitted he was emotionally abused as a child by his father; and Kathy Wakile admitted she puts herself last way too often. As poignant as those moments were, however, Joe Giudice's admission was by far the most shocking.

He admitted that he was worried about his upcoming trial. Once he did that, he was able to lift the horse's leg. It seemed small -- anyone would be nervous about a trial that could potentially send them to prison -- but Joe has never shown this kind of vulnerability before. Everything is usually one big expletive-filled joke with him. So it was surprising to see him show so much vulnerability. 

Later when it was just him and Teresa, he expressed even more fear. He told her:

It's not like I'm a f**king criminal where I've been to f**king prison a million f**king times, ya know? I never f**king killed anybody, never did anything to f**king hurt anybody. I don't belong there and I don't wanna go there.

I've never had much, if any, sympathy for the guy, but tonight I felt some twinges of it. If he did the crime, then he needs to do the time, but it still was hard to watch that fear in him. Of course, there's also the strong possibility he was just trying to spin the story and get some sympathy while the cameras were rolling, but I felt for him regardless.

Mostly I feel for Teresa and their daughters, especially because he was just talking about the identity theft case against him at that point. This episode was filmed before the whole financial fraud case they both were charged with this summer that could send them both to prison for decades. If they were scared then, they've got to be terrified now.

Were you surprised to see Joe Giudice get so emotional? Did you feel bad for him ... even a tiny bit?

Elizabeth Smart's Kidnapper Is Beaten 'Bloody' in Prison

The kidnapper serving life in prison for abducting Elizabeth Smart has reportedly been beaten to a bloody pulp in prison. Boo hoo, right? The source is the National Enquirer, so take this how you will. But I don't see why they'd make up something so odd. Anyway, Brian David Mitchell, who abducted Elizabeth when she was 14 and spent the next nine months raping her, has been serving his time in a high security prison in Tuscon, Arizona. Apparently, he's not popular there.

Prisoners are known to look down on child molesters and rapists, and Mitchell is both. Add to that the fact that he reportedly goes around preaching his twisted version of whatever crazy ass religion he practices, and he's just asking for trouble. A source told the mag:

[Mitchell] had a target on his back because the other inmates hate child molest­ers. It’s part of the prison code. Even murderers look down on them as the lowest of the low.

Then one of the prisoners apparently decided to take Mitchell down. Says the source:

He pummeled the creep to the ground and punched and kicked him for several minutes. Mitchell didn’t even fight back. He just curled up in a fetal position and cried for mercy. Meanwhile, several of the inmates were cheering the attacker on and yelling at Mitchell, 'This is FOR Elizabeth Smart!' ... He had a swollen eye, bloody lip, and several cuts and bruises.

That sounds like what this asswipe would do -- curl into the fetal position and cry. Bullies like this are only bullies when they have someone weaker than themselves to torment.

Another source says that Elizabeth couldn't care less if Mitchell took a beating in prison, that to her "he doesn't exist."

Well, I don't condone violence -- two wrongs don't make a right -- but I won't lose any sleep over this smackdown this if it's true.
