dwts season 17 cast

Ahhhhh!

(Mamá me gusta).

OMG. No puedo esperar para la próxima semana.

¿Quién es tu concursante favorito hasta ahora?

alex mccordGreetings, Stir-crazy friends! I’m thrilled to join the community and stir up some trouble in the world of reality TV.

Join me each week for a new exclusive video, where I break down what we saw, what we didn’t see, how these shows are put together behind the scenes, and what I think will be the major stories of this coming season.

Let’s get started with The Real Housewives of Miami, as its third season premiered last night on Bravo. Miami holds a special place in my heart; it’s unlike any other of the Real Housewives franchises in several ways. The biggest? It’s unapologetically superficial with all the ladies doggedly pursuing money and beauty ... which, in a strange way, is refreshing. I’ll have my bling without the guilt, please!!

We’ve got weddings and bridezillas, the heartbreaking medical condition of Alexia Echevarria’s son Frankie, plus the legal troubles of her other son Peter, both of which add up to a LOT for one mama to handle! Plus, is Adriana de Moura really married, and why is she pretending she’s not? Does Lea Black lie all the time or just part of the time? Or are her frenemies in fact lying about her? Will Marysol Patton’s Mama Elsa come back?

More from The Stir: Lea Black Has It Out for Adriana De Moura

All of this comes with a fashion parade, sun, palm trees, plus a major helping of lies, backstabbing, and scheming. What could be better?? Take a look at my in-depth recap:

Do you think Adriana is really lying about being married? What was your favorite RHOM premiere moment?

Real Housewives of New York alum Alex McCord is TheStir.com's newest guest blogger. Each week, the NYC mom of two will dish about the catfights, feuds, and behind-the-scenes scoop on all your fave Real Housewives. Watch for more to come!

'Downton Abbey' Season 4 Premiere Date Announced ... Pass the Smelling Salts!

downton abbey pbs press tourExciting news, Downton fans! We have an official date for the premiere of Downton Abbey season 4. For months we've been catching little spoiler crumbs about the new season. We've seen photos, we've scoured actors' interviews for revealing details. And it seems like the show's premiere is just around the corner. I think they may even be finished filming, or nearly finished. I can't wait -- you? All right then, the premiere date is September ...

Oh Goddammit, no. That's when it's premiering in the UK. Here's the US premiere date: Sunday, January 5, 2014. It will run for eight consecutive weeks, and the finale will air February 23, 2014.

WTF, why am I even writing about this show? In Internet time that's like a millennium. I'll have forgotten how to spell "Downton" by January. Wait this long and I'll end up writing something like, "Downtown Abbie, a TV series (or was it a movie?) from the days when I was just a young'un, is making its return. I hope we've all brushed up on our Middle English. What is this show about, again? Something about a doctor traveling through time and space in a phone booth?" I will be traveling via rocket jet shoes by the year 2014, that's all I know.

Well at least the show will run for eight consecutive weeks, unlike the third season. Remember that? We got hit with a mere handful of two-hour episodes that were all over way too quickly. No more doubling up. And I'm assuming that by "consecutive," they mean we won't have to suffer through any Downton Abbey-less weekends. Good thing, because those can really kill your spirits and leave you in a despondent funk for the rest of the week.

You may ask yourself: WHY? Why are they doing this? Don't they know everyone on the other side of the pond is going to go and spoil all the details? Is this revenge for the Revolutionary War, or for copying every successful TV show you've ever had? Tell me!

Actually, we can't blame the British. This is on us or, more specifically, on PBS. Yesterday PBS chief Paula Kerger told exasperated fans, "We look carefully at the [competition] in the fall schedule with that in mind. We look at how we get promotion and buzz about it -- and that word of mouth has actually benefited us. We don't want to mess with that if it's working so well." In other words, making us wait is good for ratings, apparently. Well fine! See if I still care by then.

Oh who am I kidding? She's right. I'll be plastered in front of my TV come January 5 just like all the other fans.

Do you think Downton Abbey should air at the same time in the UK and the US?

'DWTS' Season 17 Premiere Date Plus 5 More Things We Know About the Show

DWTS judges

The wait is over! A premiere date for Dancing With the Stars season 17 has been announced, and you'll be happy to know we only have a couple months to go, as it will air on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.

It's always fun to watch a brand new cast take the ballroom floor each season, but there will also be some other changes to DWTS this time around that have the potential to make the show a bigger hit than ever.

Here's the scoop we have on season 17 so far.

Only one judge is confirmed -- Carrie Ann Inaba will definitely be back, but as of now, there's no word on whether Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli will return to the party. There's also a possibility that a fourth judge could be added. (Paula Abdul, if I had to take a wild guess.)No more results show -- For season 17, DWTS will only air on Monday nights, though we're not quite sure how that is going to affect the voting procedures. Maybe contestants will be voted off at the beginning of each show, after the previous week's performances have been judged by viewers? Guess we'll just have to wait and see. But it will probably be better this way, because sometimes those results shows are nothing but an hour of pure fluff.A controversial cast? -- As far as DWTS casting rumors go, Paula Deen and Jon Gosselin are two names that have gotten a bit of buzz, along with Indy car racer Tony Kanaan. At this point, anyone could wind up making the roster, but odds are good they're going to try and cast some pretty great characters this season.Younger target audience -- Apparently ABC hopes to draw in a more diverse group of viewers. Translation: they want people other than old fogies like me tuning in. But if they want the young "kids" to be glued to their TV sets, they're going to have to find a few good spring chickens to test out their dancing skills.Which pros are in? -- I can't lie, I was pretty bummed out when Maskim Chmerkovskiy didn't come back for DWTS season 16, and I'd love it if he decided to return. I know some of these pros get so famous that they move on to bigger things, but they're part of what makes the show great. As of now, Cheryl Burke is definitely coming back, and supposedly Louis Van Amstel, Karina Smirnoff, Peta Murgatroyd, and Sharna Burgess are too. But if by some chance Derek Hough or (gasp!) Val Chmerkovskiy decide to make an exit, I might have to boycott season 17 altogether.

What are you hoping will be different on the new season of DWTS?
