The world of fashion is cutthroat, competitive, and very much focused on the outside instead of the inside. This is true even where younger models are concerned. They learn very early on that in order to do what they love, they will have to develop a thick skin. It's a lesson taught by designers and by the big clothing companies whether the models are ready to learn it or not. 

Wet Seal is stepping away from the pack and making a change for good. They recently hired aspiring model 17-year-old Karrie Brown to be the face of their new campaign. On the surface, Karrie sounds like just another model. A very tall, pretty girl, who describes her personal style as being that of a "biker chick." But Karrie is different than most commercial models in one way. She has Down syndrome. 

Karrie's dreams of modeling came true, after Wet Seal saw photos of her on a fan page created by her mother. Karrie's photos quickly gained a lot of positive feedback. Overnight her pics had more than 10,000 likes! Wet Seal noticed and asked her to come model for them. 

Karrie's beauty, style, and amazing energy make her a natural. Her ability in front of the camera should have other more close-minded companies (I'm looking at you, Abercrombie) re-evaluating how they pick the faces that represent their brand. Karrie's an amazing example of what true beauty looks like.

Robin Thicke Is a Model Husband

Perhaps the key to a long-lasting marriage is to be open and honest and sexually explorative (and maybe not only with each other) -- always pushing the proverbial envelope, if you will. Maybe for the husband, it means to prance around with naked models. Or for the wife, have Miley Cyrus twerk your man. It's all good, thinks Robin Thicke's wife. Paula Patton was even down with her husband's video for "Blurred Lines." She didn't want him to stop at just having topless models. Total nudity is what she thought was best! Go for it!

It's clear Paula and Robin don't have the kind of marriage most of our grandparents had. But times, they sure have changed, and we need to change with them. At least that's what these two lovebirds who have known each other since they were 14 and have a 3-year-old son together think. Thicke says he has the most functional, dysfunctional marriage ever.

"I knew she was special the night I met her. I was only 14, but she was already the most special girl," Thicke said of his wife as quoted in Radar. Wow! Kind of changes my view of him a bit. He went on, "As a relationship progresses, you fall in love again in so many deeper ways. You realize that you need each other and you can’t live without each other."

Are you swooning yet? Is Robin Thicke the most romantic man ever or what?

Thicke even said he and Paula were perfectly in love and very happily married. He even boasted that they have the "greatest love of the century." Well that sure beats a box of chocolate and a dozen red roses. It really does make me want to hug you, Robin! And whatever rhymes with hug me, too!

Who are we to say that he's being a bad husband because some think his lyrics are rapey. For the record, I don't. If his wife is cool with his playful sexual antics (while performing and even if they are with Miley Cyrus), then we should be as well. Maybe it turns her on. If he's like that while performing in front of an audience, could you image what he's like when he's performing just for his wife!?

What really counts is his words and how he treats his wife and their marriage. And by the way he speaks of her, it's clear there is love. It's far from plastic.

'Model Workout' Is the Secret to Lifting Your Booty -- Fast!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say you probably don't love working out every day all the time. It's OK, neither do I. Half the time when it's time to workout, I'd SO much rather be lying on the couch catching the tail-end of Hoda and Kathie Lee gabbing during the fourth hour of Today. So when I do work out, I want that sweaty commitment to really count. Right? Right.

Which is why I turn to pro tips from trainers to the stars like Andrea Orbeck, who works with Victoria's Secret models and Heidi Klum. A woman who has the knowledge to get those models runway ready? I'm all ears! Check out Orbeck's go-to model workout that'll help get your booty lifted and kick your metabolism into high gear.

Orbeck's model workout is all about interval training. She asks her clients to run at full speed for two minutes, jog or do a brisk walk for one minute, then repeat those two steps over the course of a half hour.

In my eyes, there are two benefits here. The first benefit: anyone can do it. Whereas heading out for a six-mile run can be super intimidating, intervals allow people of all different fitness levels to rev up the heart rate while taking things one step at a time. For someone who may just be getting back into working out, the two-minute sprint at high intensity may be a LOT slower than someone who's an avid runner. You know what? That's just fine.

Benefit #2: You won't get bored. Since you're constantly switching your pace from fast to slower movements, you're remaining engaged. This helps keep the workout fun, and in my past experience, I'm less likely to quit halfway through.

Make sure to start and end this interval routine with stretching and there you have it: an entire body workout in under 40 minutes!

Kim Kardashian Is Crazy to Want North to 'Model' Her New Baby Clothing Line

Well, it's official. Not even childbirth can stop Kim Kardashian's brain from making those cash register noises. It's been less than two months since she's become a mother and she's already thinking about her next business move -- which involves babies now, naturally.

Despite the fact that Kim's been ridiculed for her fashion sense lately, she apparently still thinks she has what it takes to design clothes. So she's decided to create a baby clothing line. Because, yes! That's what the world needs! Ridiculously overpriced crop-top onesies. With fringe!

And the worst part? Kim's designer friend who she is reportedly teaming up with says Baby North West will be a "great poster child" for the line.

Excuse me, WHAT?

Am I the only one who finds this absolutely ridiculous? This child is WEEKS old. She can't talk, walk, and she certainly can't model. (Unless modeling requires nothing more than, you know, lying there.) She has no idea that she was born into this mega-famous, attention-hungry family. In a sense, it's really unfair to do to the child. But I guess we shouldn't be surprised. Even Kris Jenner has used the baby for publicity for her show already, so why should Kim with this clothing line idea be any different?

I'm sure Kim's baby line would make a ton of money, and I'm sure having North as the "model" would fuel the success even more. But Kim really needs to reflect on what's truly important in life now more than ever: family or money and fame.

Let's hope she makes the right choice.
