Kate Middleton's Biographer Reveals What Makes the Duchess and Prince William a Good Match

Details about Duchess Catherine's past, present, and clues to her future are all coming out at warp speed now that Kate: A Biography (can't get more straightforward than that!) is due out on October 1, and author Marcia Moody is dishing to the press to pique our interest in the book. While we're learning lots about Kate as a fashion icon (she used to be a tomboy!) and Kate's work and charities, the juice I find most intriguing centers around her relationship with Prince William.

Thankfully, Parade notes that much of the book is spent on their romance -- how Kate and William met, fell in love, and married. Thus, the magazine decided to ask Moody the intriguing question we'd all like to know the answer to: "What makes Kate and William a good match?" 

Moody's response:

Kate and William just click, like any couple in a good relationship, and it’s so clear when you see them together. They have shared interests and life-views, a similar sense of humor, their friends all know each other, they love each other’s families, they strive for the same things, and they are in love.

Awww, so sweet! I love that she notes how it's something that's easily perceived when you see them together, because how spouses interact and come off as a couple really does say so much about how powerful their bond is. Actually, I would say how they "click" is more apparent from their chemistry than all of the other aspects Moody listed -- the common interests, same goals, loving one another's families. Sure, that's important, and awesome if that happens to be the case for you, but those factors are not necessarily integral to making a relationship work.

In other words, we all have different compatibilities that tie us to our partner. I have friends with polar opposite political views than their spouse (I don't know how they do it, but they do!), and friends who barely understand what their spouse does for a living.

In cases like that, I feel like it's more about understanding and supporting one another's interests and goals. And maybe being open to spending time with (maybe even just keeping the peace with!) one another's families -- even if we're not ready to declare our in-laws our new BFFs. You do your best, you know? I'm sure there are couples who are completely on the exact same wavelength most of the time, but many are not and simply love the other person enough to work through their differences. And they have other strengths and commonalities that balance it all out. In fact, I'd venture to guess there are more couples like that than the former!

Still, what Moody says Kate and William have make them very lucky. Not to mention ... even more compatible than they would be if all they had was chemistry. Sounds like it's even further confirmation that their fairy tale romance is actually the real deal!

Kate Middleton’s Lucky to Have Mom Carole as George’s Live-In Nanny

Most new moms feel most comfortable when their mom is the one looking after their baby when they're unable to. And Kate Middleton is no exception. After giving birth to Prince George, the Duchess immediately headed off to her parents' home in Bucklebury so mom Carole could lend a hand with baby duties and give her daughter some much-deserved rest. (It was even reported that Carole is the only one who can get the little prince to sleep.) And now that Kate's maternity leave is coming to an end, and it's back to the ol' grind in London, the Duke and Duchess have decided to create what's being referred to as a "granny flat" so Kate's parents can continue to help out.

Guess who's coming to dinner, Wills? Mike and Carole Middleton! Forever!

Okay, so Kate's parents aren't permanently moving in, but $1.5 million has been set aside for a two-bedroom "annex" that sits next to the Duke and Duchess' 21-bedroom home at Kensington Palace. Mike and Carole apparently already own a $1.2 million apartment in London a little over two miles away, but it's doubtful that they'd hear Baby Cambridge's cries in the middle of the night all the way over there.

Personally, I think it's perfect that Kate's parents will get a place of their own near their daughter. Clearly, the Duchess really likes her parents being around, and by having a little apartment right next door, they'll be able to help out without completely taking over Will and Kate's house. It's a win-win-win. Kate will get the help she wants. Will will still have his space. And Mike and Carole Middleton will get their third million-dollar home in England.

Kate Middleton’s Royal Portrait Dress Sells Out Fast but There’s Just One Little Problem

Shortly after the official photo of Kate Middleton, Prince William, and Prince George was released, the world's least surprising thing happened: The dress the Duchess of Cambridge was wearing in the pic sold out. Because in order to become a princess, you need to dress like one.

Kate wore a dress by the British fashion label Séraphine, and if you're as big a Kate fan as you claim to be, you know that this is now the third time Kate has worn a Seraphine dress in the last few months. The style of the dress -- loose-fitting with a knot at the chest -- would look good on anyone. But the bright fuchsia color? Incorrect.

Kate Middleton has fantastic style, and I admit, I've definitely thought about buying a navy blue wrap dress after the royal engagement photo came out. But ... Kate Middleton would look good wrapped in tin foil. And tin foil would definitely sell out immediately if that's what she was wearing in the pic with Baby Cambridge. Just because Kate's wearing it doesn't mean it will look good on you! Sorry, not trying to be a meanie here (you're gorgeous!), but it's true!

This style dress would flatter pretty much anyone. But the color is too bright for a lot of complexions. So maybe consider picking up the dress, but just in a different color. Oh, wait. You can't. Because it's sold out.

Kate Middleton’s Mom Is the Only One Who Can Get Prince George to Sleep

Besties.Kate Middleton is becoming the guest that just won't leave. What started out as a quick post-baby trip to mum's has turned into a potential six-month stay. And Carole's like, "Dude. Leave already." Just kidding. The Duchess could never be an intrusion to anyone, least of all her mother. But Kate really is considering staying at her parents' Bucklebury home with baby George for a longer time than anticipated. And for a very good reason: Carole is apparently the only one who can get the little prince to sleep.

When you have a newborn, one of the biggest stressors is getting the baby down at night. Some days it's easy, others, not so much. And when sleep is eluding your little one at night, that's when things get really ... un-relaxing. Parents, can I get an amen? The hours are passing by, and you're alternating between nursing and pacing around the room, rocking the baby, hoping that, at some point, the little guy or gal will get tired and pass out. If you have someone who's "no fail" when it comes to getting the baby down at night, you hold on to them like a four-leaf clover that's been attached to a rabbit's foot that's been shoved up a unicorn's ass. Via horseshoe. And sounds like that unicorn is Carole Middleton.

Kate should spend as much time as she wants at her mother's house, if that's where she feels most comfortable. She's on maternity leave from her royal duties, after all, and I'm sure Carole is loving every minute she's getting to spend with her daughter and grandson. And if I were a betting woman, I'd say in a few weeks, Kate's plans will change. Because babies? They always be changing.

Kate Middleton's Parents Will Likely Be Closer With the Baby Than Charles and Camilla

There's a ridiculous rumor going around, saying that Prince Charles and Camilla are "furious" at Kate Middleton right now, because she's letting her parents hog baby Cambridge. The Duke, Duchess, and little George Alexander Louis have been spending a good amount of time at Kate's parents' Bucklebury home, which is a big deviation from how other royal babies have spent their first few weeks. And which means Kate's parents are getting to spend more time with their new addition than Will's are.

Now, like I said, I seriously doubt Charles and Camilla are "furious" with their daughter-in-law over this, but if you believe the ol' "where there's smoke, there's fire" adage, there very well could be some truth to this. And isn't this something lots of couples deal with?

Royals. They really are just like us.

In my experience, it seems to typically be the case that one set of grandparents is the eensiest bit closer (or a lot closer?) with their grandkids than the other set. Growing up, I was a bit closer to my mother's parents than I was with my father's, really for no good reason at all. And in the case of my daughter, she's a bit "closer" with my father (my mom has since passed) than my in-laws simply by default. My husband's parents live a plane ride away, where my father is about an hour drive. And I've noticed the same thing with my friends, as well. I'm yet to see an instance where one set of grandparents is super close with the kids and the other not at all, but there's usually a slight noticeable difference. And, I don't know, from what I've seen, it kind of seems like the mom's parents tend to be the ones who are slightly closer. Maybe because, usually, mom is with baby more often than dad? (Or if dad's with baby more often, maybe baby's closer with his parents?) I realize it's not that way in every case, but does anyone else feel that way?

I'm sure on some level Kate Middleton and Prince William feel guilty that her parents are "getting all the fun". I know I do in my situation, but there's really nothing I can do about it, short of moving. The fact is, my daughter will likely grow up being closer with my father than she will with my in-laws. It's a bummer for everyone involved (even my dad feels bad!), but right now, here's where our lives and our jobs are. It is what it is.

In the case of Will and Kate, though (and many others), they are all close, proximity-wise. So it will be interesting to see how things play out. From what I've heard, Kate is extremely close with her parents -- hence, her bucking royal tradition and spending time at their place -- and she'll likely be spending a bit more time with the baby than Will. So if the Middletons got to see George a bit more than Charles and Camilla, I wouldn't be shocked. I also wouldn't be shocked if it annoyed them a bit. Furious seems like a bit much, but annoyance? Totally believable.

Kate Middleton’s Royal Birth Plan Revealed

Well, here we are, Tuesday evening and still no Royal Baby. But just in case you were worried that the Palace isn't 110 percent ready for the big event, rest assured they are. Behold: The Royal Baby Birth Plan. Here it is, step by step, everything that will happen once Kate feels those first little contractions. Here is the carefully orchestrated chain of events that will follow her.

1. Kate will inform her private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, who will in turn alert Kate's doctor, Marcus Setchell, on a special palace-issued mobile phone. The message will be an encrypted signal ("OMFG, IT'S HAPPENING BITCHEZ!") not even Rebekah Brooks can intercept.

2. Dr. Setchell will hop into his Aston Martin BMW, affix a flashing green light to the roof, and zoom the seven miles from his North London home to St. Mary's Hospital. Press, now you know to look out for a BMW 6 Series with a green flashing light. Who needs to intercept an encrypted signal when you already have this scoop?

3. Kate will be whisked through a side entrance into her newly sanitized, $1,500-a-night room in the Lido Wing. Heavy security is already on site, probably wearing those white hospital booties.

4. Once she's safely in there, the palace will announce the imminent arrival of the Royal Baby, even though the press will have already seen her arrive.

5. Labor and delivery.

Wait, is that it? That's not a birth plan! We still don't know if Kate will be allowed to snack during labor, whether or not she'll allow an episiotomy, what her labor playlist consists of, whether or not she'll use a birthing tub, whether she wants to labor unmedicated. Will she push while standing up or on her back? How about the lighting? So many unanswered questions!

I'm sorry. I led you to believe I would deliver a birth plan, and here instead we have a publicity plan obviously written by a man who has never been anywhere near a deliver room. I guess we'll have to find out all those much more crucial details later.
