peanut butterThere are loads of things you don't want your growing teen to eat too much of. You know, like junk food, chocolate, that sorta stuff. However, what if I were to tell you that there's one food you should be encouraging your teenage daughter to indulge in at least twice a week? One that could actually stave off breast disease? Ready for the magical food: peanut butter.

A recent study published in the Breast Cancer Research and Treatment journal reveals that pre-teens and teens who eat peanut butter twice a week have a 39 percent lower risk of developing breast disease, or benign breast disease. And get this: the effect seemed especially strong among girls who had some history of breast cancer in their family.

Time to grab some jelly, two pieces of whole wheat bread, and make her a sandwich.

Sure, we hear things like this all the time, telling us what we should and shouldn't eat. One second, someone's telling us that celery has some magical power to make your skin appear shiny (it doesn't, that I know of), and the next we're wondering what watermelon juice can do for our hair. As hard as it is to take the constant stream of "scientific" information seriously, studies like this one make me personally want to believe that these super foods do exist.

I mean, come on: if eating an extra peanut butter and jelly sandwich or snacking on some apples and peanut butter every once in a while could help a growing girl avoid breast disease, then why not try it, right? Plus, the delicious stuff is packed with healthy saturated fats that are much better than the junk you'll find in all those candy bars.

What do you think about this?

lunchLunch is a tricky meal. Most of us eat it frantically, either over our desks or on the go throughout our day. At breakfast we can often eat at a more leisurely pace. At dinner we have time to have fun and explore different recipes to be shared with the whole family.

But this doesn't mean our lunch has to be joyless! In fact, our lunch can provide a pretty interesting window into our personalities. Read on to find out what your lunch says about you!

Are you super-organized? Maybe you're a health-conscious luncher. I bet there's a fair number of you who don't remember to eat lunch at all! We've put together a slideshow of 5 common types of lunches. See if your next midday meal is revealing something surprising about you.

var UGC_HOST = "http://ugc-01.cafemomstatic.com";var current_slide_num = 1;var slideshow_url = "http://thestir.cafemom.com/food_party/161269/6_things_your_lunch_choices";var short_url = "/food_party/161269/6_things_your_lunch_choices";var slide_id = "";var from_social = "";var current_slide_id = '110019';

Your motto: A place for everything, and everything in its place. Not only are you more likely to prep your lunch the night before work, but you probably race to get the empty containers into the wash when you get home. Frugal, thoughtful, and meticulous -- you are organized above all else. You probably always have a stain stick, Tylenol, and Band-Aids on hand. You're a good luncher to know, my friend!

Dina Lohan's Alleged DUI Could Be Just the Thing to Keep LiLo on the Straight and Narrow

dina lohan mugshotIt's a good thing the Lohans are a photogenic family, because their mugshot gallery just keeps getting bigger! And nope, we're not talking about now (hopefully) sober LiLo -- this time, it's 50-year-old Dina Lohan who's in trouble with the law, getting arrested last night for drunk driving in Long Island, New York.

Mama Lohan was allegedly driving 77 mph in a 55 mph zone when cops pulled her over at around 11 p.m. on Thursday night, with a blood alcohol level registering at .20 (over twice the legal limit of .08). Dina was booked on two counts of driving while intoxicated and one count of speeding, then released to an unidentified "sober third party," but is due in court later this month. Yikes!

Now, I have to tell you that, initially, I was extremely tempted to go on a "guess the Lohan doesn't fall far from the tree" type rant about this unfortunate event.

You know, "of course Lindsay is a mess with a mom like that, yada yada yada, this is probably going to screw up her newfound sobriety big time, blah blah." But then I realized something -- it could be that the exact opposite is true. Think about it: Back when Lindsay was crashing Porsches and mopping up morgues and slapping gypsies, her mom's behavior probably seemed completely fine. Better than fine, even -- what's better than a mom who's also a drinking buddy?? (Obviously lots of things, but you get my point.) Now that Lindsay is cleaning up her act, she's probably seeing things a lot more clearly -- seeing things for what they truly are. Meaning, she's probably realizing that she doesn't want to end up like her mom, still posing for drunken mugshots at 50 years old. And that's the kind of realization that could keep LiLo on the straight and narrow for a long, long time.

Do you think Dina Lohan's DUI could be a good thing for Lindsay?

Kanye West Could Be Headed to Jail

Kanye WestBad news for Kanye West this week. Kim Kardashian's beau may have avoided felony charges for his scuffle with paparazzi a few months back, but his nightmare is far from over. Kanye has been charged with multiple misdemeanors for allegedly attacking a photographer!

And don't let the word misdemeanor fool you; if he's convicted, baby North's daddy could be headed to jail!

The rapper was caught on video back in July, lunging at cameramen. He got a lucky break when the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office declined to press felony charges. But the case was moved over to the city's DA's office.

According to TMZ, the same municipality that brought Khloe Kardashian's husband Lamar Odom up on DUI charges earlier this week has now dropped criminal battery and attempted grand theft charges on Yeezy that carry a maximum sentence of a year in jail!

As if baby North West doesn't have enough craziness in her life right now, now she could have a jailbird for a daddy?

Watch the video of Kanye's paparazzi scuffle -- do you think the charges are warranted?

Liam Hemsworth Could Be Coping With Miley Cyrus' Naked Antics in a Shocking Way

miley cyrus liam hemsworthJust when we finally stopped reeling from her VMAs performance, Miley Cyrus went and released her super-naked "Wrecking Ball" music video, and now we are all collectively staring aghast at our computer screens wondering how on earth the former child star plans to top THAT?! It's also natural to wonder what the heck her fiance Liam Hemsworth has to say about her antics ... and if he's reached his breaking (up?) point yet or is willing to grin and bear it while his fiancee continues to shock/confuse/disturb us all.

Well, HollywoodLife.com's source claims to know the answer ...

The supposed insider revealed, "Liam can’t really control what [Miley] does, and this ["Wrecking Ball"] video is another wave into him letting her do what she wants to do, because it's not affecting him or his career, it is all on Miley." They continued, "He is just separating everything and treating it as what it is, and that is entertainment. Let’s be honest, she’s not killing anyone."

Huh, interesting. If this is true, Liam sounds quite ... evolved, huh? Because it wouldn't be completely crazy to think that her "career" would actually reflect poorly on his. Then again, sometimes you have no choice but to overlook aspects of your partner's job that aren't ideal ...

It's not uncommon to be affected by and need to come to terms with the negative aspects of your partner's career -- even if they aren't twerking for a living like Miley! Ha! It just comes with the territory of being in a long-term, serious relationship. Your partner might work crazy hours or complain about their coworker or have to transfer to a different city, and you have to be supportive. Have their back. Figure it out together.

Who knows, maybe that's what's going on here!? Maybe Miley's being prodded to keep pushing barriers by her team, and Liam has had to make peace with the fact that if he loves her (bless his heart!), then for better or worse, he's along for the ride. If that's the case, maybe they do stand a chance after all!

Do you think that Liam may be cool with Miley's new shtick? What drawbacks of your partner's career have you had to come to terms with?
