lunchLunch is a tricky meal. Most of us eat it frantically, either over our desks or on the go throughout our day. At breakfast we can often eat at a more leisurely pace. At dinner we have time to have fun and explore different recipes to be shared with the whole family.

But this doesn't mean our lunch has to be joyless! In fact, our lunch can provide a pretty interesting window into our personalities. Read on to find out what your lunch says about you!

Are you super-organized? Maybe you're a health-conscious luncher. I bet there's a fair number of you who don't remember to eat lunch at all! We've put together a slideshow of 5 common types of lunches. See if your next midday meal is revealing something surprising about you.

var UGC_HOST = "http://ugc-01.cafemomstatic.com";var current_slide_num = 1;var slideshow_url = "http://thestir.cafemom.com/food_party/161269/6_things_your_lunch_choices";var short_url = "/food_party/161269/6_things_your_lunch_choices";var slide_id = "";var from_social = "";var current_slide_id = '110019';

Your motto: A place for everything, and everything in its place. Not only are you more likely to prep your lunch the night before work, but you probably race to get the empty containers into the wash when you get home. Frugal, thoughtful, and meticulous -- you are organized above all else. You probably always have a stain stick, Tylenol, and Band-Aids on hand. You're a good luncher to know, my friend!

Schools Are Sneaking Pink Slime Back Into Kids' Lunch

pink slime ground beefAlready getting tired of packing school lunch for ungrateful whippersnappers? This will make you glad your kids are brown bagging it: pink slime is sneaking its way back into schools' lunch meat.

Remember pink slime? That disgusting mix of ammonia and ground beef that was really the ONLY thing anyone could talk about awhile back? Grocery stores, restaurants, and schools across the country responded to the mass hysteria by kicking lean finely textured beef to the curb ... but now it's baaaaaaack.

A new report shows at least seven states have put in orders to the USDA for about two million pounds of pink slimed beef for school districts to serve this year. That's more than double the number of states who were serving it up last school year.

This is the stuff fast food restaurants won't even buy anymore.

And they're feeding it to our growing kids!

Freaked out?

Me too.

And my kid isn't even attending school in one of the aforementioned seven states (which, since you're wondering, includes Illinois, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Texas, Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota)!

Here's the thing -- these states obviously KNOW parents are not happy with pink slime. And yet, they just waited until the rumpus died down, and they went back to their old ways. That bothers me almost more than the existence of pink slime in the first place (and that's saying something).

If they're willing to go behind our backs with pink slime, what ELSE are they sneaking into that Michelle Obama-backed "healthy" lunch? What aren't they willing to do to our kids for the sake of saving a buck?

Because that's the crux of it, isn't it? Pink slimed beef is cheaper. It's cheaper because it's crap, but still, it's cheaper. That's why schools -- which admittedly are always short on funds -- want to feed it to kids.

But when it comes to children, there are places you can afford to cut costs and there are places where you need to suck it up and pay through the nose. Food? That's one of them.

Let me put it this way: according to some studies, the nutritional needs of teenagers are higher than ANY OTHER AGE GROUP. They have large appetites, and their bodies are going through huge changes.

And we want to short kids like this?

Uh uh!

I hate this feeling. I hate feeling like I can't trust my kid's school. But this is what we're left with. It's not knowing exactly what might be in that mystery meat on their tray in the cafeteria or packing them something to eat every morning -- even when they whine that "all the kids' moms let them buy."

I'll admit I've been tempted to give in in the past, but not anymore. This steels my resolve. She's only getting home-packed lunches. Period.

How about you? Does the pink slime news make you mistrust the school lunch? Do you think it matters?

Kristin Cavallari Has an Easy Trick for Enjoying Lunch Dates With Her Baby

Kristin CavallariIf her transition to motherhood wasn't already seamless enough -- get a load of this photo of Kristin Cavallari having lunch with baby Camden at a restaurant in L.A. She looks relaxed and not the least bit anxious about her little guy throwing a fit and ruining her meal.

Yeah, yeah -- I know she's a celeb mom and they make pretty much every aspect of being a parent look easy. But take a closer look at the picture. Kristin obviously has a simple trick she uses to make sure going out to eat with her baby doesn't turn into an experience from hell.

It may sound like a real no-brainer, but see how Camden is eating out of that little blue bowl? Yep. That's it. Kristin has figured out that as long as you bring snacks along in your bag, lunch dates with kids can actually be pretty enjoyable.

When I had my son, it only took one instance of going to a restaurant and waiting for a grilled cheese sandwich to arrive, letting it completely cool, cutting it into bite-sized pieces -- and listening to my little guy whine and squirm during the entire process for me to realize I had to pack snacks to tide him over. (I know. What a dummy.)

Babies can't be expected to sit there and wait for their food without their little tummies rumbling. From that point forward, I always had a dish of Cheerios or a can of those Gerber puff things in my diaper bag. And besides serving as an appetizer, I found out fairly quickly that serving snacks doubled as a distraction for my son. It gave him something to do instead of just sitting there strapped to a high chair while getting all bored and fidgety.

And there's one more huge plus to Kristin bringing food from home for Camden. This way she can control what he eats instead of serving up restaurant stuff, which may not be the best fit for him as far as nutrition goes. Considering she fed him goat's milk as a young infant, it's clear that she wants to give him more natural choices as opposed to typical restaurant fare.

Whatever she's giving him, she's obviously doing something right. Camden certainly appears to be one happy and mellow baby!

What kinds of snacks do you pack for your baby when you go out to eat?
