Mama June and Sugar Bear's Relationship Isn't as Rock Solid as It Seems

The entire second season of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo has been centered around the planning of Mama June and Sugar Bear's wedding. It comes with all the typical highs and lows -- everything from bouts of cold feet to what the heck should the bride wear? But there is one important point that has gotten lost in all that hoopla. They aren't actually getting legally married and there is a good reason why.

Even though all the kids (and "Shuggie" too) would prefer to make it legal, Mama opted for a commitment ceremony instead because she's scared. Who can blame her. Marriage is hardly a forever kind of thing for most couples in this country, and she has seen her fair share of nasty splits. We all have. And witnessing that understandably makes you a bit gun shy. She may love Sugar Bear, but there is a chance it won't work out.

“It’s just that a lot of people in our family have been married and divorced a couple of times and for me, seeing that growing up, it wasn’t good,” she said. Another big worry of hers? The expense that comes with ending a a union.

“It also costs a lot of money to actually get out of a marriage. We got a piece of paper for doing the commitment ceremony and we don’t have to worry, down the road, if something doesn’t go right and things don’t work out,” she said. She makes a valid point, don't you think. The most expensive part of getting hitched has nothing to do with the legal aspects. A marriage license costs a few hundred bucks at most, but calling it quits can run you thousands. Not to mention all the legal wrangling involved with dividing assets.

It's easy to see why she doesn't want to worry about that. This doesn't mean she doesn't love him -- she's just realistic. By having a simple commitment ceremony, they get to express their love and celebrate with friends and family. Then if things don't work out later, the parting -- though surely painful -- will be much less complicated.

The Truth About Sugar Is Worse Than We Thought

There was a time when I used to swear that no matter what, I would never want to give up sugar. As someone who loves chocolate and loves to bake, how could I ever do without cupcakes, cookies, pies, sigh ... I mean, YOLO!

But as it may turn out, eating too much sugar may mean not living nearly as long as you would otherwise. Eek! Researchers at the University of Utah fed mice a daily diet of 25 percent extra sugar -- the equivalent of a healthy human diet plus three cans of soda -- and found that female mice were twice as likely to die and have fewer babies than those on a diet without the added sugar. OMG. Crazy, right?

Maybe even freakier: Thirteen to 25 percent of Americans currently consume a dose of added sugar equivalent to that used in the study.

Knowing people were bound to be like, "Pfft, whatever, who cares about MICE, dude!" the study's senior author, biology professor Wayne Potts, stressed that his findings are definitely relevant to humans. And he's even personally reduced refined sugar intake and encouraged his family to do the same.

As a recovering sugar addict, I'm totally on board with what Potts is saying. The more we seem to learn about refined sugar, the uglier it gets. The benefits are so minimal compared to the drawbacks. And when we have even more access to healthier, more natural options with a far less turbulent effect on blood sugar like agave and stevia and, oh, I don't know, plain ol', straight from the earth FRUIT -- why shouldn't do what we can to steer clear of super-processed sweeteners like high fructose corn syrup and white sugar? Especially when it might make for a longer, fuller life ...

La semana pasada, como la familia celebrada una ducha en honor a la mamá de junio y Sugar Bear próxima boda, el amor era claramente en el aire. El último episodio de Aquí viene cariño Boo Boo, sin embargo, fue una historia totalmente diferente. La pareja supuestamente estaba atacándose mutuamente y mamá incluso amenaza con tirar del enchufe en la ceremonia.

Junio no oculta el hecho de que la presión de la planificación la tenía en el borde. Desde las invitaciones, para ordenar el port-a-orinales para la yarda (ella no quería gente jugando "servicios" de su casa) y KT compras estaba convirtiendo su vida en una gran pesadilla agitada.

Sus hijos ciertamente no estaban haciendo las cosas más fácil. "No creo que las chicas realmente ayudará mucho," lamentó mamá fuera una boutique nupcial. "Son más que nada haciendo el tonto. Esperemos que no oído tienda de esta mujer al infierno y volver."

Sobrevivió a la tienda... pero ciertamente pusieron a su mamá por el timbre. Cuando odiaron un vestido, ellos no contengas las barbas desagradables. Al final, ella salió vestido de menos. Pero eso parecía causarle mucho menos estrés que Sugar Bear baile de habilidades. Cuando surgió el tema de su primer baile, ella se quejó de que no tenía ningún ritmo. Entonces cuando intentaron sacarla, ella insistió en líder. No es sorprendente, las chicas convencieron para tomar una clase de baile.

Pero las cosas ponen tensas más adelante en el show cuando junio grita un durmiente Sugar Bear sobre el año arreglado antes de su ceremonia de compromiso. "Levanta tu trasero", grita. "No has hecho nada que me ayude con esta ceremonia de compromiso y tú eres el principal que lo quiere". En un momento dado incluso confiesa, "se siente más como el final que al principio. Realmente no quiero seguir haciéndolo."

En realidad es algo pasar un montón de parejas. Las bodas son más estresantes de gente se da cuenta cuando primero comprometerte. Inicialmente, ellos están atrapados en el romance de todo--la propuesta, el anillo, el vestido. Pero las cosas se complican infinitamente más como va el proceso de planificación. Causa muchas conversaciones tensas e incluso discusiones entre parejas. Junio de mamá y Sugar Bear no son ciertamente es una excepción. Aunque, admite, sus arrebatos fueron sobre todo provocados por los nervios. La mayoría de las novias ciertamente pueden identificarme con eso. "Aún la amo," dice un claramente derrotados Sugar Bear. "Sólo espero que junio demuestra para arriba en el día del boda".
