Racist 1-Word Note on Restaurant Bill Is Almost Too Awful to Believe

We've seen a lot of nasty things written on restaurant bills, but I think this must be the worst. Student Toni Jenkins was waiting tables at a suburban Nashville Red Lobster when she saw the note a 20-something couple left her. Instead of a tip, she got the n-word scrawled on the bill. Ugh! Toni was so appalled, she posted a photo of the bill on Facebook, commenting, "... so happy to live in the proud southern states ... God Bless America, land of the free and home of the low class racists of Tennessee."

I can see how that insult would sting. I don't blame Toni for responding the way that she did. She says it was a post intended just for her friends and family, and she just wanted some support and commiseration. But then her employers found out about her Facebook post.

The restaurant suspended Jenkins for a couple days while they decided what to do. She was suspended on full pay, but still -- what kind of message does that send? Is she really such a danger to her customers that they're afraid of exposing more customers to her? OMG, the uppity bitch who doesn't like being called racist slurs -- run for the hills!

I can see why it's unprofessional to post a receipt with an ugly slur online. While it's not the restaurant's fault at all, it's not great publicity for them, either. But I'm a little puzzled by the suspension. They say it's "standard procedure" for employees who post photos of receipts online. But under these more extreme circumstances, couldn't they have just had a conversation with Jenkins and asked her to remove the photo and not post any like that in the future? 

At least Red Lobster sent out a statement condemning the racial slur. A spokesman says the chain is "extremely disturbed" by the incident. "We take this extremely seriously. This kind of language is completely disgusting and has no place in our restaurant or anywhere else, and we are committed to getting to the bottom of what happened as quickly as possible." Jenkins hasn't actually missed any days at work and is expected to return on schedule. I kind of feel like her suspension got blown out of proportion in reports, though I also think she shouldn't have been suspended at all. 

At any rate, I'm glad Red Lobster is clear about saying bigotry has no place at their business. Like I always say, racism is not delicious.

Restaurant That Baked Cockroach Into Boy's Pizza Should Have Closed for Good

Having lived in two cities renowned for their pizza -- Chicago and NYC -- I've heard of some pretty wild, creative toppings and even "stuffings" before ... but cockroach has never been one of 'em! The creepy bug showed up baked into a 6-year-old boy's pizza crust. The little boy's father had brought the pizza home from a joint in Leeds, U.K. called Munchies. Ew, ew, ew!

The family was so grossed out -- can you blame 'em? -- that they spoke up, reporting the incident to not only the restaurant, but to the authorities, who proceeded to investigate the eatery. And warning: what they ended up finding is sure to kill your appetite!

Several cockroaches were seen scurrying inside pans (ahhhh!!), and they also observed years' worth of dirt and grease in the food prep area, as well as bags of moldy kebob meat on the floor, according to DeathandTaxesMag.com. Disgusting!

Thankfully, the owner of the revolting spot, Matloob Hussain, landed in court and pleaded guilty to eight related offenses. He was fined $1,174.10 and ordered to pay $1,956.94 in court costs, reported the Daily Mail. And while that sounds all well and good, get this ... Munchies was shut down for a week to be cleaned and "debugged," but it has since reopened. Hussain is not involved in the operation anymore, but still!

Would YOU eat there after hearing details like the above?! OMG. It sounds like a total horror show played out behind the scenes at this restaurant. I realize that under different ownership and a cleaned-up space, there may be nothing for customers to worry about. But I wouldn't take a chance! There are far too many alternatives to take the chance. After hearing the gory details, I'd think most people would want to eat anywhere but there!

Lectores, tengo otro cuento de restaurante insultar Ay para ti. Se reúnen ' redondo. Es un primor... debíamos publicar la foto de la factura ofendía por debajo el salto por razones de F-bombardeo. Es para su propia protección. ANYHOO, nuestra historia comienza cuando el joven, estudiante de ususpecting Naomi Bloomer ordenó unos tragos y un brownie de una barra de café. Cuando llegó su recibo notó que incluía el audazmente redactada la Nota: "F *** ers todo venga enseguida." ¿Creo que tal vez alguien tenía un mal día en el trabajo?

FORMA DE HACERLO NO ES IMPRESIONANTE.

Naomi dice que ella quejó primero al cajero, que le voló diciendo: "Sí, nosotros hemos sido pegados." (Eso es lo que ella dijo...) Entonces Naomi escribió a servicio al cliente para la barra de café tres veces y sigue la consoló. ¿Y sabes lo que hace que la gente siente. En lugar de simplemente dejarlo caer, te dan ganas de seguir esa disculpa sabes es debido a los extremos de la tierra, si es necesario. Alguien tiene que pagar! O al menos di que lo sientes. ¿Es decir, Caray, qué difícil es simplemente pedir disculpas?

Finalmente, llegó el dueño de la empresa, Dave Dickinson (Sí, realmente) disculparme. "Nos esforzamos para servicio al cliente antípodas super amable. Así que pedimos disculpas a la persona que no experimenta esto." (Antipoda se refiere a Australia o Nueva Zelanda, el último de los cuales es donde tiene su sede la empresa. Aprendieron una nueva palabra hoy!)

Esto era una tontería. Es decir, "cabrones", entrando en la tienda en masa son un poco de la idea de por qué usted entra en el negocio, ¿no? ¿Quieres un montón de clientes, y contratar gente para asegurarse de que están muy satisfechos cuando salen. ¿Qué se supone, coordinar nuestros antojos de café para no cargar excesivamente los baristas? HRM, tal vez esto es una cuestión de gestión y capacitación tanto como una cuestión de rudeza.

Y después todos los insultos de restaurante ofensiva de millones que han sido escritos en la Internet, ¿por qué haces que la gente todavía? Algunas personas incluso despedir así nunca termina bien. Pero sabes que va a suceder. De hecho, voy a poner mi calendario para una semana a partir de hoy y sólo espera, voy a tener uno de estos puestos a escribir.

Man’s Sandwich From Airport Restaurant Starts Moving and He Finds a Horrible Surprise Inside (VIDEO)

Hello everyone, I'm about to share with you an incredibly gross story. I'm warning you upfront, just so you're prepared. All right? Here goes. A man named Joel Woloshuk bought himself a focaccia sandwich at an airport and was just about to dig in when he noticed something curious: The parmesean was moving. "I'm looking at what I thought was parmesan, right? And the parmesan began to move," Woloshuk said. (Kind of gives new meaning to Who Moved My Cheese, right?) This was a troubling development, so he bravely decided to investigate. After some poking and prodding, he discovered what is perhaps one of the worst things you can ever find in your food. His sandwich was full of maggots.

The! Horror! There they were, the little grubs, squirming amidst the cheese and tomato. Somehow, maybe because he was on an airplane by this time, Woloshuk refrained from screaming and flinging the sandwich away (like I would have). Instead, he took video of the sandwich in action. And he kept that sandwich through his entire flight from Atlanta to Miami. And back to Atlanta.

When Woloshuk brought the sandwich back to the airport cafe where he bought it, he got the brush-off. News reporter Amy Napier Viteri called the president of the company that runs the cafe, and he told her the maggots couldn't possibly have originated at his shop -- he blamed it on the vendor who supplies their bread. A followup inspection showed that the cafe was clean enough, and the cafe says they have removed every last crumb from that bakery and will never buy bread from them ever again.

Okay, so that's a relief. But I still think they should take a little more responsibility for the incident. Didn't anyone notice anything when they were building that sandwich? Shouldn't someone from the cafe be doing some sort of quality control of everything that comes into their kitchen before they send it out to diners? As a human who occasionally eats food made by other people, that is something I would like restaurants to do. YOU KNOW?

Because if they chose to do business with that bakery, they may be doing business with other, equally lousy suppliers. This should bring about a little due diligence. Maybe they should be looking closer at everything that comes into their kitchen and training their employees to pull anything that looks a bit funky. Then I think they'd be a more trustworthy place to get some pre-flight lunch.
