dakota johnson with mother melanie griffithDakota Johnson appears to already be gearing up for getting in front of the cameras to film Fifty Shades of Grey. The actress confirmed to portray Anastasia Steele was just spotted at Bergdorf Goodman in NYC with mom Melanie Griffith and, according to E!, reportedly spent "a considerable time in the cosmetics department and ended up splurging big time at the Orlane Paris counter -- $3,000, to be exact!" Oof!

The gossiphounds go on to dish that the mother-daughter duo walked away with products like the posh line's hydrating serum, super moisturizing light cream, and Vivifying cleanser. Huh. While I can understand wanting to drop some dough on a few high-quality, key skin care products that you feel make a major difference ... and I realize we're talkin' Hollywood royalty here who can afford to lay down serious cash for whatever beauty products they desire, I'm having trouble wrapping my head on the idea of thousands on skincare in one fell swoop!?

Especially for 23-year-old Dakota. We can't be sure if they were shopping for Dakota alone or Melanie or both of 'em, but if there's any chance the lion's share of the products were meant for her, that's kinda sad. I hope it isn't indicative of her getting super-self-conscious about how she looks in the wake of all this newfound attention? She's beautiful just the way she is!

Plus, as much of a product junkie as I can be at times, I really can't get behind spending that kind of money on any sort of serum, moisturizer, or cleanser. After all, what could a $75 cream possibly deliver that can't be accomplished with a clean diet, lots of water, and simple, natural skin care solutions like aloe or witch hazel? Products over a certain price really start to seem more and more like snake oil.

Oh well! At least it sounds like Dakota got a chance to share some quality time with her mama before cameras start rolling. I'd venture to guess that eating healthy and a lot of rest will go a lot further than any $50 cleanser to helping her look and feel her best when Sam Taylor-Johnson eventually yells "action!"

How do you feel about laying out a lot of cash on skincare products?

Brandi Glanville's Latest Tweet Demonstrates Exactly Why She Doesn't Have a Man

brandi glanvilleI'm starting to get the feeling that there's a reason Brandi Glanville isn't in a serious relationship. She's in love with Twitter, and she compares every man she meets to it. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star was rumored to be dating ex-flame Jonathan Ruiz, but that relationship seems to have gone to crap, because a little over a week ago, she tweeted: "Ex-boyfriends are ex for a reason #dontgoback." And now she just wrote: "I'm done with ALL men #lesbianpillplease."

Question: Would you want to be involved with someone who aired every single relationship grievance to their thousands of Twitter followers? You would? Oh, then let me introduce you to Brandi!

First of all, Brandi ought to cool it with the "I'm swearing off men forever" schtick, because A) she's obviously not, and B) that, quite frankly, is getting old. But moreover, Brandi needs to stop tweeting about her relationship issues all the time. Say she and some dude she was dating just got into a fight. And then she fired off this "I'm done with ALL men" tweet. If you were that guy, would you appreciate that? Who wants to read vague, passive-aggressive comments online about themselves all the time?

Brandi, I don't mean to overstep any boundaries here, but I'd like to make a suggestion. Stop tweeting about your love life for god's sake. Clearly, it's not doing you any good. You're a funny and intelligent enough person to be able to tweet about things other than dudes. Like your hair. Have you ever considered a tweet about your hair? Food for thought.

What do you think of Brandi's constant tweets about her relationships?

Miley Cyrus’s Provocative VMA Performance Doesn’t Encourage a Rape Culture

Of all the dumb things people say … well this one is pretty dumb. Richard Cohen wrote a column for the Washington Post on Monday that somehow managed to link Miley Cyrus’s raunchy VMA performance with the Steubenville rape case.

So that just happened. A journalist suggested that performances like Miley’s are the real reason that two teenage boys sexually manhandled their drunk and passed out female peer. He implied that that’s how teens operate these days thanks to a “tawdry cable TV and celebrity culture.”

Cohen wrote:

Let me also suggest that acts such as hers not only objectify women but debase them. They encourage a teenage culture that has set the women’s movement back on its heels. What is being celebrated is not sexuality but sexual exploitation, a mean casualness that deprives intimacy of all intimacy.

I’m not here to defend the VMA performance, because I thought it was crass and I’ll thank God in heaven to never see Miley’s tongue again, but I’m hard-pressed to blame an obnoxious 20-year-old on TV for the sexual misconduct of teenage boys.

If a teenager watches a young lady (and I use the term loosely in this case) twerking and simulating sex with a foam finger on TV and somehow manages to translate that into permission to have sex with passed out drunk girls, then our culture is in worse shape than I thought.

It’s never ok to do something to another person without their explicit, sober consent -- no matter how many grown-up Disney starlets shake their hips in nude bikinis on cable TV.

As it is, I think the outrage over the VMA stunt is evidence that we are not a completely debased society. If this were the norm, then what’s all the fuss about? It seems that our culture doesn’t celebrate the sexual exploitation of young women after all.

Do you think Miley’s twerking encourages a rape culture?

Miley Cyrus Doesn't Owe Parents an Apology for Her Raunchy VMA Performance

Miley Cyrus VMAsRut-ro. Miley Cyrus has gone and done it! Her raunchy VMAs performance has set the mommies' tongues a clucking!

Did you see her gyrating and twerking up there? Did you see her rip off that sexy teddy bear onesie and reveal her so pale they blended right into her skin undies? Did you see her letting Robin Thicke perform fake anal right out there in the middle of everything?

What are our kids supposed to think?

Well, how about nothing?

My 8-year-old is a Miley Cyrus fan. She danced to "Party in the USA" at her pre-school graduation, and she's seen her fair share of Hannah Montana episodes. Today I asked her what she thinks about Miley, and she said, quite simply, "She's cool. I love singing her music!"

She didn't, however, have an opinion about Miley's VMAs gyrations, for one simple reason: she didn't see it -- or any of the VMAs for that matter.

She didn't watch because she was in bed -- school starts soon, and we've reinstituted 8 p.m. bedtime to ready for early rising. She didn't watch because it was the MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS. It wasn't a show for kids. And when I myself finally pulled up videos of Miley letting it all hang out (I skipped the VMAs to catch up on Breaking Bad), I made sure she was in another room before I hit play.

She can like Miley's songs, even like some of Miley's (kid-appropriate) acting. But it's not up to Miley to protect my kid from Miley acting out.

It's up to me.

So I have to ask: what is all the fuss about?

Did Miley act like an idiot up there on that stage? Sure. But then, she also acted a lot like a 20-year-old who is still figuring out who she is; a 20-year-old who has had to endure the judgment of an entire nation as she's transitioned from sweet little kid to teenager to young adult.

Miley Cyrus has not had it easy with the pressure of growing up in the spotlight. Do we really need to add "being a role model to our kids" onto her heavy burden?

Is that really her job?

I don't think so. It's no more her job to raise my kid and do right by my kid than it is Alex Rodriguez' job to stay off steroids so that my kid's love of baseball remains untainted, or any other celebrity's job to live a stained life just so my kid never has to learn that there are bad people and bad things in this world.

That's why kids have parents. We're here to shield them from the bad things out there, to introduce those issues in kid-appropriate ways, to pick and choose what they learn about and when.

So to all the parents demanding Miley Cyrus' head on a platter, I have to ask: where were you when your kid was watching Miley grind on a foam finger? Why weren't YOU protecting your kid?

Do you really believe Miley Cyrus owes parents an apology here?

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson Reunion Doesn't Stand a Chance If She's Living With a New Man

kristen stewart lane garrisonEver since Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson broke up, we've heard varying stories about each of them moving on with respective other people. There was KStew's rumored rebound relationship with Michael Pitt, and Rob's been linked with who knows how many other women including Elvis's granddaughter Riley Keough. Still, just as Robsten fans were holding out hope that the two were close to reuniting ... Kristen may be moving on -- and has already moved in! -- with another man.

It's been obvious from photos on the set that Kristen gets along with her Camp X-Ray co-star Lane Garrison, but apparently they're getting along so well that they're now living together, according to a source who spoke with Yahoo! omg!.

The source explains, "Kristen was enjoying Lane's company, and he was spending a lot of time with her at her home. He doesn't live in LA so he moved out of his hotel when they became close and moved into the guest wing of her house in Los Feliz.''

So it's just the guest wing, and not her bedroom. But who knows ... Where there's smoke (or stars living in close quarters), there tends to be fire (or an AFFAIR!). And what the source had to say about Kristen's brother Cameron's take on the whole thing makes it seem like romance may be brewing ...

The insider claims, "Kristen's big brother, Cameron, has told her he's concerned about the new relationship, especially since [Lane Garrison's] recent arrest after his jail term ... But Kristen is trying to pull her life together and she's been leaning on Lane since they started filming together. She understands his past but trusts that he's changed and is really enjoying getting to know him.''

Sounds like trouble! Especially for anyone holding out for a Robsten reunion ...

What do you think is going on between Kristen and Lane? Would you want to see them together?
