Actress Rose Byrne -- who you may recognize from Bridesmaids as Helen Harris and Get Him to the Greek as Jackie Q -- has always looked picture perfect with her medium brown mane, but it turns out she can also rock blonde locks and look just as good. No, wait, even better! Not a feat just any brunette can accomplish, amirite?! Especially as we're going into the colder months, when we're all encouraged to take our hair color even deeper, richer, darker -- not blonde.

But like Khloe Kardashian with her ombre highlights, Rose has proven the perfect blonde can be pulled off anytime of the year! She debuted the makeover whilst appearing at the Emmys with nominated boyfriend, Boardwalk Empire star Bobby Cannavale.

The reason it seems to work -- and be beyond covetable? It's not in-your-face blonde. It's more of a honey-toned, soft, and warm blonde. I feel like there's a real difference between going lighter but staying warm and golden vs. lighter and cooler. Clearly, the warmth of this hue works with Rose's skintone. It's obviously far from natural, but it could be!

It's like 180 degrees from some recent attempts by brunettes to go blonde -- cough, Kim Kardashian, whose blonde is just too jarring and doesn't suit her skintone. That said, if anyone or anything is going to convince you to go for sunny highlights even as we're swiftly approaching Halloween, it's Rose and her bombshell new 'do -- all the way!

Today John Boehner urged Congress to support President Obama's call for strikes against Syria. In other news, Kim Kardashian went blond. Yes, hard to believe, isn't it? Boehner agreeing with Obama ... oh, you mean you're shocked about Kim going blond? I KNOW. No one saw that one coming! And no, I don't think it's a wig.

Kim's got kind of an ombre dye job, so her roots are still dark, a gentler jump into blond than an all-over dye job would be. I don't love it. But you know what? It could be a LOT worse.

At least it's not a pixie cut. We've all seen women chop off all their hair right after having a baby. It seems like the practical thing to do at the time. Mama feels liberated ... and then a week later she wakes up with a bad case of the regrets, but it's too late. I get it, though. Becoming a new mom changes your identity, your sense of self. Maybe you want a new look to reflect that -- or maybe you want a new look to say you're still cool. We all know Kim is worried about losing her cool now as a mom. But a short haircut takes forever to grow out. A dye job can be reversed the very next day. (Wish it were so easy to fix things in Syria ...)

Anyhoo, that's about the best thing I can say about Kim's look. Could be worse. Check out the photo in the link above to get the full effect, because the photo she Instagrammed here doesn't really show it all. I think it's really hard for olive-skinned, dark-eyed women to pull off blond locks (I say this as an olive-skinned, dark-eyed woman). That doesn't stop us from occasionally being curious and trying it anyway, and other women like her sister Khloe have done it well. But this looks kind of dull, like Kim just got dusted all over with a giant brush filled with mineral powder foundation. I like how they matched her hair to her gold necklace, though. Points for that.

Oh Kim. We know. We've been there. We look forward to you going brunette again. It's going to be okay.
