Lea Michele Wants Cory Monteith 'Glee' Tribute to Tell the Truth About Drug Addiction

Every day, there are new details coming out about how the Glee crew is going to handle the tragedy that is Cory Monteith's July 13 death on the FOX show. So far, what we know about the Cory Monteith tribute episode, set for October 10, is minimal. We've heard that the actors will be sitting down as themselves, addressing their best memories about their lost friend. We've also heard from creator Ryan Murphy that Cory's character Finn will die on the show as well. Now, a source is telling Us Weekly what Lea Michele wants for the tribute episode.

"Lea wants it to reflect the truth, to warn people of what can happen," a source tells Us Weekly.

That's ... brave. Hard drug use isn't a light topic to cover on a TV show with such a young demographic like Glee. Just like with the school shooting episode, something tells me that the October episode dealing with the drug-related death of Finn is going to be a heavy-hitter. 

With that said, though, I think it's the right choice. I think that sometimes, it's easier to have some of life's most difficult conversations when prompted by the things we see on television. Do parents want their kids and teenagers doing drugs? Of course not, never. But seeing some of their favorite TV characters handling the difficult passing of someone because of hard drugs, it starts the dialogue.

Lea wants to warn audiences about the dangers of hard drug use, and that's exactly what she'll be doing. Cory's death was a chilling reminder that anyone, no matter their background, can fall victim to the horrible effects of addiction. Something tells me that the upcoming ep will have both Glee fans and the media talking for weeks to come.

'Breaking Bad' Honest Trailer Breaks Down Our Addiction to Walter White (VIDEO)

Have you seen the deeply awesome "Honest Trailer" clips from the folks at Screen Junkies? They're a series of parody videos that include snarky yet oh-so-true commentary about various popular films. For instance, the Honest Trailer for Hunger Games, which, among other things, hilariously questioned how Peeta used his cake-decorating skills to magically camouflage himself into, what, a forest rock? ("Seriously? That is f*cking ridiculous.")

While the YouTube humor series is typically focused on movies, the latest Honest Trailer takes on Breaking Bad -- and it's every bit as fantastic as you'd expect. It's also chock-full of spoilers from past seasons, so skip the rest of this post if you haven't caught up! Otherwise, enjoy the video magic of an amazing show being skewered with perfect, loving accuracy.

I know it's a cliché to talk about spraying the monitor with laughter-delivered beverage, but I seriously -- and ironically -- half-choked on my iced tea when I got to the part about Walt's cancer being the kind that makes him cough a lot. (Not that cancer is funny! It's just … that line is funny, okay?)

The occasional moments of slow exposition! The eternal breakfast scenes! Hank's terrible jokes! All the Latino villains! The fact that white people drone on and on about Breaking Bad even more than The Wire! Oh, it's all true, and this trailer does a truly great job of good-naturedly poking fun -- while still acknowledging how relentlessly fantastic the show is.

Is Sex Addiction a Real Problem or Just an Excuse to Behave Badly?

You would think with all of the news we've heard about sex addiction in the past few years, there'd be no doubt that it's a real addiction, much like drug or alcohol addiction. But a new study shockingly says sex addiction is no addiction at all! The study says that people who have so-called "sex addictions" are really just people who like to -- get ready for this shocker -- have a lot of sex.

The study showed "hypersexual" people -- the types who engage in a lot of sex or have had serious repercussions over their sexual exploits -- pictures of people having sex and expected that their brain waves would "spike" the same way that cocaine addicts have a brain spike when shown pics of toot. But apparently that didn't happen.

Sure, maybe some people need more sex just the way some people need more water or sleep, and this doesn't make him or her an "addict." But hopefully those people are figuring out how to do lots and lots of shebanging without ruining their lives or those of their spouses.

Perhaps the problem is that "hypersexual" people live in a society that demands fidelity to an extreme degree (like sex with one person for the next 50 years -- yeah, that's extreme), and they don't quite realize that they are hypersexual until they've walked down the aisle. But I would say in that case, better to get divorced than to cheat with anyone you can get your hands on.

Other experts say that sex addiction -- even sexting addiction -- is quite real. And considering a bonafide sexting addict might be the next mayor of New York City, this is quite a newsy topic.

Yet Anthony Weiner, who had now admitted to sexting no less than THREE women after his resignation from Congress, insists he's no sexting addict, narcissistically blathering:

I don't believe that it is. The people that I am working with don't believe that it is.

Okay, Anthony, but the "people" you work with are 22-year-old high school dropouts who are sexting you back, so that doesn't count. Haha. Anyway, I can't quite decide if Anthony is deluded or he's being refreshingly candid, given that everyone is so quick to blame their foibles on an addiction these days.

Some psychologists (obviously not the ones "treating" Anthony) say sexting addiction is quite real. I personally believe that any compulsion you have an overriding desire to engage in, even if it is to your detriment, is an addiction of sorts.

Even if there's no big negative consequences but you are using the activity, whatever it is, to avoid your thoughts, feelings, intimacy, or clarity -- that is addiction-like behavior. If you consistently choose to fiddle with your iPhone rather than engage in actual conversation with an actual human being, that's an addiction, IMHO.

Remember, everything in moderation!
