j.k. rowlingRemember when the credits rolled on the last Harry Potter movie and you felt like some small part of you died? I mean, reading the final page of the final book was bad enough, but at least we could take some small comfort in knowing that the movies were still going strong. Then, when THOSE ended ... whew! Them's were rough times!

Anyway, good news: We can now look forward to ANOTHER Harry Potter film franchise ... sort of. See, J.K. Rowling is officially writing the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, "inspired by Harry Potter's Hogwarts textbook of the same name, and will feature the book's fictitious author, Newt Scamander."

YAY!!! This, Potterheads, is awesome news -- on more than one level. Because not only does this mean more Harry Potter movies (sort of), it means something HUGE for the whole supernatural genre.

What does it mean, you ask? Well, it means the addition of a whole new cast of characters to supernatural pop culture! Let's face it: The fascination with vampires, zombies and werewolves is bound to fade sooner or later. It's time to broaden those horizons! And they WILL broaden. Here are just a few of the bizarre beasties in the "book":

The Doxy, “a kind of biting fairy”

The Mackled Malaclaw, a "weird sort of land-lobster with a bite that causes bad luck"

The Alethiafold, which "slides under doors at night and suffocates its prey."

Who needs vampires?! Well, actually, I do. Played by Alexander Skarsgard, preferably. But nevermindallthat. Bring on the Fantastic Beasts!

Are you excited for the new Harry Potter spinoff movie series?
