Who could blame Kim Kardashian for being peeved at Katie Couric? The newswoman made a nasty comment about the Kardashians to In Touch, then later sent a gift to baby North West as if she and Kim were BFFs. Clearly realizing her faux pas, Katie issued an apology, but if you ask me, it's too little too late.
When asked why she thought the reality TV clan was so famous, she quipped, "I don't understand -- why are they so famous? I think it's mostly teenage girls that are interested." Ouch. She has some nerve.
I’m not saying she’s wrong for her opinion -- many of us marvel at the Kardashian fame and how the hell they attained it by basically doing nothing but shop and bitch about each other. It's actually quite fascinating. But you can’t diss someone PUBLICLY and then pretend to be their buddy. Who does Katie think she is -- A Real Housewife of New Jersey?
In response to the mini scandal, Katie sent a statement to E! News:
I was responding to a reporter's question, and explaining how I'm intrigued by the public's fascination with her family. I didn't mean to hurt her feelings. The gift is genuine, and I'm happy for Kim and Kanye.
Oh please! That is not an apology. That's getting caught with egg on your face and trying to weasel your way out of it. If she doesn't like or respect the girl -- that's her right. It's a free country and she's entitled to her opinion. But don't ass kiss the next day. That just makes you look bad, Katie. Really bad. Kim should mail that insincere gift back to sender.
Do you think Katie's apology was sincere?
