When I first heard about "beauty oils", I'll confess I was more than a bit skeptical. I mean, doesn't it seem weird to put OIL on your face? I don't have super oily skin, but I do have that tricky t-zone area, and I tend to equate "oil" with "grease." Oh, how wrong I was! Beauty oils are really fabulous -- I've been trying a lot lately and I love them.
There are products for every skin type, and many beauty oils are multi-purpose. For your face, you can use them instead of moisturizer or before your moisturizer, and/or as a primer for a really smooth skin surface for foundation. Some beauty oils are also great for your body (as an ultra hydrating moisturizer or a bath oil), for your hands (great for cuticles!), and still others you can also use in your hair. Then of course there are some products targeted for very specific purposes. They can be pricey, but a little bit really goes a long way. Here are some of the best ones on the market ...
FOR FACE: L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Glow Renewal Facial Oil is made with a blend of eight lightweight, fast absorbing oils. It's made to soak in super fast, so it replenishes and restores dull, dry skin and gives you a more radiant, brighter look. ($24.99 at LorealParisUSA.com and drugstores)
Use it on your face and neck; alone or before mosturizer; and/or before you put on foundation (it gives your skin a smooth surface for makeup!).
FOR FACE: Seventh Generation just came out with an awesome line of skin boosting serums made with various high quality beauty oils. From hydration to firming, each blend is formulated to nourish and treat your skin without clogging pores. Fabulous! ($14.99 each at SeventhGeneration.com)
FOR CLEANSING: Erno Laszlo Phelityl Pre-Cleansing Oil is designed to penetrate your pores to dissolve impurities, so when you follow up with a cleanser, your skin is so fresh and clean. ($45 at Nordstrom)
FOR ALL OVER: Caudalie Divine Oil can be used on your face, body, AND hair (use it on the tips for a great de-frizzer). It's made from an exceptional blend of oils (grape, hibiscus, sesame, and argan) combined with patented antioxidants. It smells AMAZING. You can also use it as a luxurious bath oil. ($49 for 3.4 oz, $32 for 1.7 oz at Us.Caudalie.com)
FOR BODY: L'Occitane Almond Firming and Softening Supple Skin Oil smells like heaven and makes your skin feel divine. Not only is it formulated to make your skin more supple, it's great for treating and preventing stretch marks. ($40 at Sephora)
FOR HAIR: got2b oil-licious is a great, really affordable line of beauty oil-based hair care products designed to combat frizz and really hydrate your hair. The "Calm and Shine" styling oil leaves a smooth, silky finish. The "Opulent Smooth" shampoo and conditioner are made with argan, white grape seed, and marula oils for detangling and shine. ($3.99 each at Walmart)
