AppId is over the quota

Teen Mom 3 star Mackenzie Douthit made a confession many teen moms (famous or not) have probably thought at one point or another. Douthit said she wishes she never got pregnant. During an emotional interview after her 16 and Pregnant days, Douthit candidly said: "I don't want my son to ever hear me say this, but I wish I would have never got pregnant." She also says she doesn't like hearing that she's a "mom". Doutit talks about how she loves her son, but says that she's 17 and doesn't want to hear that.
Douthit clearly was not ready or mature enough to have a child, but guess what? She did. And she needs to grow up.
My situation is completely different from Douthit's or any teen mom's, as I had my daughter in my 30s. But I can't, for the life of me, fathom ever saying, "I wish I never I never got pregnant." Not only because I don't feel that way, but because I can't think of anything more hurtful for a child to hear. That's like basically saying: "I wish you didn't exist." And the fact that Douthit said it to MTV, on film, makes it even worse. There really isn't a "I hope my son won't hear this" here. It's more "when will my son hear this?"
I don't doubt that Mackenzie loves and cares about her son very much, but she obviously has some things she needs to both work out and accept -- like the fact that she made the decision to have unprotected sex and have a child, so she is a mom, no matter how much she dislikes hearing the name. And it's heartbreaking to hear her say something as hurtful as "I wish I never got pregnant" not only for her son's sake, but because so many women who would love to get pregnant can't.
Hopefully by the time little Gannon is old enough to Google his mother, the two will have had a long chat about all the things she regretfully said before she came to accept, and love, their unique situation. But I kind of don't think that's going to happen any time soon.
