After four years of dating, to say that Gretchen Rossi and Slade Smiley's engagement was inevitable is an understatement. The duo, who filmed the whole shebang for the season 8 finale of Real Housewives of Orange County, are happy as can be -- as apparent by Gretchen's overwhelming glow on Watch What Happens Live last week. But get this: as if her proposal to Slade complete with the debut of her song "The Time Is Now" and a helicopter ride wasn't big and dramatic enough, the Real Housewives star confessed to Bravo that originally she wanted it to be different. Very different.

Just wait 'til you hear the insane proposal Gretchen really wanted, here:

Alcohol lit on fire in snow near a forest!? Hello, fantasy world! I like Gretchen, I really do. But it seems like fame has RUINED her perception of reality just a little bit. That whole fire bit ... that's only something that one could make happen with the help of a reality TV camera crew and a whole bunch of weird professionals that specialize in that sorta thing.

I commend Gretchen, though. She chose love over money (because she has her own) and it's clear that she's head-over-heels in love with Slade. Now that she got that big TV proposal she probably wanted and everyone knows her business, I think it would be a good idea for her to enjoy being engaged, spend time with her honey, and take a step back.

Unfortunately, something tells me that isn't happening any time soon. Gretchen and Slade wedding special? I definitely won't be surprised.

The search is on in Atlanta, Georgia for the killers of a 13-year-old boy who was shot during a carjacking. Police say Steven Galindo Diaz was helping his older sister, Samaria Diaz, put air in her tires, when they were confronted by robbers with guns. The men took Samaria's necklace and tried to take her truck, but when it wouldn't start, they shot her little brother in frustration.

What is wrong with these people?

Who shoots someone because they can't steal their vehicle?

Who shoots a child?

Who shoots ANYONE?

From all accounts, Samaria Diaz did what you're supposed to do when a robber confronts you. The 22-year-old handed over her car keys. She let them take her necklace. She didn't put up a fight against men armed with a gun and a bat. And when her little brother was shot, she stayed by his side. She started CPR. 

She did everything right.

And everything was stolen from her. Her necklace. Her sense of safety. Her baby brother's life.

My heart goes out to Steven's whole family right now, but especially to Samaria. She was the responsible adult watching her little brother, and she did everything she could to keep him safe.

But sometimes doing everything right isn't enough ... because monsters exist in this world.
