Jennifer Lopez Returns to ‘American Idol’ But Her New Handsome Sidekick Is No Simon Cowell

Does anyone still watch American Idol? Bueller? Bueller ...? I think a lot of people tuned out when Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj were judges -- not even a fake feud could save that season. But now news is out about the brand spankin' new judges' panel. For those of you who still care, and apparently I do too, as I'm writing about it, the new ones will be: Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., and Keith Urban, the sole returning judge from last season.

Hooray?

Idol veteran Randy Jackson will be back as an in-house mentor. We'll see how that goes. Ryan Seacrest will be back as host, so all of you worried about his departure can rest easy tonight.

But seriously, kids, is the show really the same ever since Simon Cowell left?

Embroiled in some baby daddy drama nowadays, Simon hasn't been a part of Idol since what's seemed like forever. The best part of the show was listening to all these hopeful contestants sing and then hearing what he had to say. I mean, the things that would come out of his mouth! And in that accent! "Did you really believe you could become the American Idol? Well, then, you're deaf."

While watching the first few seasons, it was fun formulating opinions in your head, listening to the BS the first two or three judges said, and then seeing if your opinion matched up with Simon's. And with Jennifer, Harry, and Keith ... whose responsibility is it to come up with those biting one-liners now?

Can you imagine any of them saying something like this, "You look a little odd, your dancing is terrible, the singing was horrendous, and you look like one of those creatures that live in the jungle with the massive eyes. What do they call those? Bush babies." And getting away with it? I don't think so. I really don't think so.

Especially since Harry issued this statement: "I have always been a huge fan of American Idol and really enjoyed my time as a mentor on the show. And I am honored that they’ve asked me to be a judge this season. As an entertainer, I am truly excited to bring my perspective to American Idol, and to help emerging performers find their way."

Oy. Nothing Simon-esque about that one. Don't get me wrong, Harry's a super-likable and talented guy. And of course he's going to be polite and politically correct in a statement, but still, the question remains ... can these judges save the show?

And will anyone actually tune in to find out?

Simon Cowell y Lauren Silverman oficialmente son una pareja feliz ahora

¿Simon Cowell y nueva novia Lauren Silverman tratan un poco demasiado duro Mostrar al mundo que son felices y juntos? Sí es cierto! Ahora oficialmente es su novia! La pareja fue recientemente descubierta y fotografiada muy acaramelada besos y enredada en Francia de vacaciones. Silverman está ahora en casa en los Hamptons, pasar tiempo con su hijo de 8 años Adam, pero no antes de que ella y su novio 20-años-viejo se quebró en un beso que no se parece en nada una artificiosa, planteada y dirigidas por publicista tiro viene de un restaurante de Londres, no en absoluto!

Cowell también presuntamente ha estado burlando de reporteros que preguntan si se va a casar con su babymama, que sólo les abierta da respuestas destinada a mantenerlos adivinando. Él es claramente disfrutando esto. Tienes que admitir que hizo un buen trabajo de difusión de lo que prometía a explotar en una situación muy embarazosa con el descubrimiento de la aventura y un divorcio complicado potencialmente para Silverman.

Diablos, todo eso fue tan corta, tenemos que dudar de si alguno de que hubiera ocurrido en absoluto. Quiero decir... Mira ese beso! Son un par de dulces.

Lauren Silverman's Past Doesn't Make Her a Homewrecker or Simon Cowell an Innocent Victim

So, have you heard about the craziness with Simon Cowell and how he's having a love child with socialite Lauren Silverman? That's not really the crazy part, of course. The reason this particular zygote has been dominating tabloid headlines is because Silverman is married -- to Cowell's friend, Andrew Silverman.

Er, his ex friend, that is. I'm assuming they're no longer BFFs, now that Cowell's been named in Andrew Silverman's divorce filings as a co-respondent, and Andrew's own brother was quoted as saying, "It is an unbelievable story of betrayal." But as the drama continues to swirl with ugly rumors of adultery, estrangement, and birth control trickery, one of the involved parties is getting a SERIOUSLY unfair amount of slut-shaming heat in this whole mess.

I'm talking about the babymama in question, Lauren Silverman. It's been revealed that when she was 16 and attending a private school in Florida, she had an affair with a married English teacher. The man was 26 at the time, and according to former classmates, the relationship went on for about a month and a half before Lauren's mother mother figured out what was going on. The teacher was asked to resign, and Lauren transferred to a different school.

Now, normally when you read about teachers engaged in illegal relationships with their minor students, the story isn't presented in a manner intended to make the underage teenager sound like a conniving whore. But in this case, we've got headlines like "PREGNANT LAUREN SILVERMAN'S VERY RACY PAST," and "LAUREN SILVERMAN'S HOMEWRECKING SEX SCANDAL!"

Even the father of the teacher has whined to the Daily Mail,

He had to leave town because of this bimbo.

Awww, did the poor 26-year-old man have to leave town because he was caught committing a CRIME? Let me just go ahead and quote from Florida's law regarding the age of consent:

A person 24 years of age or older who engages in sexual activity with a person 16 or 17 years of age commits a felony of the second degree.

This teacher should be counting his lucky stars he didn't go straight to JAIL for his relationship with Lauren Silverman. Being underage means that she couldn't legally give consent, full stop. It's beyond disgusting to cite this long-ago incident as proof Silverman is some sort of homewrecking scandal-monster.

Silverman's decision to hook up with Simon Cowell while she was still married certainly seems like bad decision-making to ME, but god knows this sort of thing happens all the time. It's almost like the media's looking for proof she's some sort of sex-crazy siren that trapped poor helpless Simon into his current situation. What about HIS involvement? What about HIS responsibility to use birth control? Why aren't HIS past morals being questioned in the same way Silverman's are? And by the way, wasn't HE the guy who was sleeping with a MARRIED WOMAN?

Simon Cowell no es la primera aventura de Homewrecking de Lauren Silverman

Lauren juguete de compras con su sonLauren Silverman, madre del hijo de Simon Cowell, aparentemente ha hecho una "cosa" de tener relaciones. ¿Qué es lo que dicen? Un leopardo no puede cambiar sus manchas. Bueno, aparentemente, ella puede ser la chica del cartel para ese dicho.

En la secundaria, cuando Silverman tenía sólo 16 años, supuestamente tuvo una aventura con un maestro muy querido, casado, Inglés. Ahora, de ninguna manera estoy culpando su 100% de ésta. Que el maestro era un idiota. De hecho, cualquier maestro que se pone con un estudiante es un idiota. 26 Y en una posición de poder, y estoy seguro de que era tan atractivo a Lauren como su aparente buena apariencia. Pero aún... hay algo que dijo por el hecho de que Lauren no tienen la moral suficiente para detener a sí misma en aquel entonces.

Un ex compañero dijo que al Daily News que el romance duró dos meses y todos en la high School secundaria sabían que estaba pasando. Eventualmente fue mamá de Lauren se enteró, al Director, y ese fue el final de eso!

Claramente Lauren no hace demasiados fans en la escuela. Otro ex compañero dijo:

No era sorprendente que era ella. Lauren siempre fue la escandalosa alborotador, siempre persiguiendo chicos mayores.

La diferencia ahora es que este asunto no puede ser cubierto, porque tenemos nueve meses de golpe bebé viendo que hacer. Oh sí... y su marido separado, Andrew Silverman está luchando por la custodia completa de su hijo de 7 años de edad.

¿Cree usted que una vez alguien tramposos, están destinados a engañar?

Bebé Drama tendrán de Simon Cowell efectos sobre niño inocente duraderos

El drama continúa girar con Simon Cowell, una embarazada Lauren Silvermany su marido, Andrew Silverman. En serio, qué desastre! Lauren está embarazada con el bebé y Andrew de Simon es obviamente muy enfurecido y... espera... ¿Podemos detener la locura por un minuto y recuerda que hay un niño de 7 años en medio de todo esto? Verás, Lauren y Andrew tienen un hijo. Así que mientras Simon supuestamente está haciendo todo tipo de reclamaciones que su hijo va a querer para nada (y deberíamos nosotros le aplauden para que? Es asumir la responsabilidad de tus acciones tan grande de un choque hoy?) --Hay otra batalla potencial que implica mamacita de Simon--y éste podría tener consecuencias duraderas.

Verás, al parecer algunos piensan Andrew va a tratar de conseguir la custodia de su hijo. Lauren que no es una buena madre... ya que ella está constantemente fuera colgante con famosos, entre otras cosas. Seguro que Andrew surgirá con más que eso--y tendrá altas potencia abogados para ayudar a hacer su reclamo. Sólo espero que cuando peleó esta batalla pública con Lauren, no puso a su hijo en el medio de rencor y la ira.

Esta es la parte de estas trifulcas públicas que rompe mi corazón. Porque mientras todo el mundo está tratando de averiguar qué está pasando, un niño va a tener todo su mundo al revés. Así que Simon y Lauren pueden ser vertiginoso de su bebé en camino pero no debemos olvidar de hijo de la Silverman--que bien puede ser el centro de una batalla de custodia potencialmente desgarrador.

Esperemos que Lauren y Andrew recordará a ser padres primero ... y no dejar a su hijo convertirse en un peón en todo esto.
